This is an old villa that has been converted into a hotel but is not so adapted to the modern visitor. The villa and the yard around it are not well maintained, the rooms are on the first floor, 25 stairs, no elevator and you have to carry your luggage upstairs alone. There are not enough sockets in the rooms to charge electronic devices (phone, iPad, etc.). However , it is suitable for the price and a night's stop on the way.

The charm of the place

Actually nothing, the experience was amazing.

The staff and owners were very kind. The bathroom was huge and well-appointed. The bed was very comfortable, and the breakfast and breakfast venue were very nice. We didn’t swim in the pool, but we did sit out by the pool to drink wine. It’s a short drive to restaurants and to the Busaco Forest. Lovely grounds. Very quiet country inn experience.

The room felt a bit cold and dark. Maybe some lighter furnishings would help change that mood. This is a small thing as the rest was as expected and as advertised (which is that it’s an old country inn).

This beautiful property is run by a very, very sweet couple. We only stayed one night as a quick stop so we could visit the Bussaco National Forest and Palace, and it was perfect. The grounds were gorgeous, they had a little swing set and slide for our 2 year old son to play on, breakfast was delicious, and the hosts recommended a great restaurant in Luso for dinner. Wish we would have been there for warmer weather to enjoy the pool! Next time!
