Location and staff friendliness

Saniflow toilet which kicked in during our last night and woke us up twice . Had we been staying a further night we would have requested another room.

Beautiful surroundings and the hotel was lovely to look at.

Staff were unwelcoming. Service at the bar was shocking, actually seemed as if we were an inconvenience. I phoned 24 hours before and asked if we could leave our bags...but they checked us in and charged us an extra £20. The hotel was not busy at all.

Hotel was situated amongst lovely countryside.

Staff were unfriendly and didn't seem to care that we were there. Greetings were lacklustre and felt like we were inconveniencing them.

Newly nicely decorated room. Clean too. Receptionists very friendly.

Too door too short so let light in at bottom. Floor slopes down towards the wall so the bed needs lifting at the head boards as felt we were sleeping with our heads lower than our body. Door to main stairs need to close automatically as hear talking of guests.

Lack of gluten-free options at breakfast. Some gluten-free cereal would have been good.

This hotel is advertised as having a spa including in the name of it, pictures online etc but we were informed by receptionist that the facilities had closed down in January but still had a gym. We had already paid extra each to use the facilities. To me this is false advertising. Very tired decor throughout including bedroom furniture and bathrooms etc. New carpets were been fitted the day we were leaving but the whole hotel is in need of lots of refurbishment. Every thing about this hotel seems very tired.Our room was an executive room which we paid £129 for and is advertised as having bathrobes and slippers in the room there were neither of these. This didnt include breakfast either. Very outdated throughout and in my opinion single glazed windows in bedrooms as all we could here from before 7am where the hotels kitchen extraction unit.Staff in the hotel weren't particularly helpful or friendly either ,No how was your stay etc when checking out. And to be honest seemed like more staff were needed. Having worked in the hotel industry myself they seemed very stretched. We had stayed in this hotel last year and looked past the dated decor as the facilities etc made up for it. However this year there weren't many positives. We paid £79 for a Wowcher deal last year which included spa facilities. And this year £129 plus £6 for gym facilities. I cannot understand how they can warrant charging this price.

Don't like buffet breakfast for hot food. Never stays hot. Hot water jugs not very user friendly and not well labelled. Easy to mistake coffee for hot water!

All staff were welcoming and friendly and the hotel is located a short walk to the centre. All rooms were clean and had all the requirements in it. Breakfast was lovely with various choices

I stay here annually for work and it is a good location for getting to and from work and getting in to Ilkley in the evening.

Always a mixed bag - Initially was sent to a room that was still being cleaned and not ready. The rooms are good sizes but depending what room you get it changes. Some rooms are boiling hot and heating cannot be turned off, other rooms are nice enough.
