It was in general a really nice and cozy place, and I really liked the bar

I was very disappointed though, that there was no kitchen, which is the reason for my rather low review in the end

The atmosphere was good and the food was also good. Bed was comfy. 

No water on the fourth floor!! Seemingly been like that since June……Was noisy and walls are paper thin.

For the price I'd hoped for more than a bunk that felt one squeak away from falling apart

The rooms were nice and clean. We were on the top floor in a big room with a comfortable bed. The staff is super nice and helpful. Really nice to sit downstairs at the bar in the evening. The hostel is at the best possible location in Akureyri

The bathrooms on our floor were not working, and looking at the reviews, they had not been working for a while. The showers are in the basement and the draining was really bad, meaning that there was no dry area there to dress or undress. They were quite dirty as well.

I enjoyed being central in town but that came with the trade off of being very loud during the night

I did not love not having any quiet common space, the restaraunt was packed full the entire time so there was no lounge or area to hide out in. The spots near the windows on each floor were next to rooms so trying to do work or be on the phone was impossible. There is no kitchen here other than the restaurant which was challenging. The beds seemed a bit sketch they were so rickity and loud I felt the top bunk was going to collapse the entire night. I also am a contender that beds with bunks should have curtains for privacy at minimum. The entire place was just very noisy all night being in town and the room got quite hot.

As far as the hostel goes facilities are very poor. Showers are only downstairs and reaching them requires passing next to people drinking at the bar. The showers were not clean. 3 sinks on each floor to share are not enough, there was a large queue in the morning. No kitchen to make tea/coffee or to use your own food, one can only buy from the bar at high price. No towel in the room. Room floor is not clean, bedding not ironed. Price paid was around €120, so very poor value for money

Location. Pub/Restaurant atmosphere very cool. Bedroom was a good size. The Polish guy who checked was in was very friendly & social

1)Paid for a private room on a private floor... However the water was broken forcing us to go downstairs and share with the hostel floor which was pure chaos. I looked at prior reviews and this complaint goes back to the 7th of July (Our stay was the 23rd of July) so why has this issue not been fixed for weeks?!? We should have been notified or given a discount because we did NOT get a private space on a private floor as advertised. 2)Website advertises laundromat and we planned our trip around this fact- Only to find when we arrived that just like the water.... the laundromat is indeed broken. Why keep booking customers if everything is out of order? This led to an extremely frustrating situation after already traveling for 7 days and needing some peace, rest & clean laundry (The reasons to book a room in the first place....) 3)No kitchen, hot water, or fridge in a backpacker's hostel 4) With the exception of the wonderful polish guy as I already mentioned, staff was generally dismissive, unfriendly & unhelpful.

Clean room, comfortable bed, very good location right in the city center.

It would be usefull to put a bath sink especially in the private room. The rooms are quite big so there would be space for it. I don't understand the poster saying I should take the linens from the bed and put them in the washing bin in the hall when I checkout. The cleaning staff is coming in the rooms to bring clean sheets anyway. Can't they take the dirty sheets at the same time?

Rooms were overly hot, even though they weren’t fully occupied… Showers weren’t in great condition, one out of order and the one I used flooded almost instantly. There is a lot of noise from the restaurant and patrons below. Sauna was also sadly still broken.

They got coupon at the bar for free coffee or beer for every customer. Located at the center of city. Room is clean and staffs are helpful.

No hairdryer provided. The bathroom is shared but clean. It might be a bit noisy on weekends since the bar is just downstairs. Kitchen was under maintenance during our stay; only a microwave and a kettle shared by the entire hostel.

I booked it as I had stayed there a few times and always loved it! The location, the staff, the food, the kitchen ... such a nice place to be. Alas, things (as has the owner I hear?) seemed to have changed, so there's no kitchen anymore, the bar got bigger, the food worse (and tiny portions), staff overworked, etc ... Very disappointed, as it used to be a cool place!

When I arrived I had to wait quite a bit for check-in, the staff, that also does the bar and kitchen, clearly had too much to do ... The room that I was given then turned out had been forgotten to clean – I had to go back and actually tell them about it. I then had to wait more (but no space to really do that), a guy came and quickly threw some covers on – no cleaning or such in between guests it appears. The double room also didn't resemble the one I had booked online at all (no lamp, no chair, nowhere to put your stuff) ... I was later informed that maybe I had looked at photos or 'superior' doubles, but had happened to book a 'normal' double ... Alas – there is no details or photos on that on booking.com Very poor performance. Staff was friendly, and surely not their fault – they gave me 40% discount on food (offered it very quickly ... as if it was a standard thing to do, and they might hear complaints often ...? You wonder. Next time I'd rather book the Apothek Guesthouse – it's straight across the street, good double and single rooms, got a kitchen and was more quiet, too.

Room 307. There was Good noise isolation from the bar downstairs and nice view. (But not from the nightclub outside or from room 308 with the same wall). No shower noise on the floor was also a plus.

NO KITCHEN!!! only ONE microwave and a kettle - IN THE HALLWAY 2nd floor. and showers are in the basement.

The staff is great and the location is pretty central.

There was no kitchen, no plates, not even a knife. If you want a towel you must pay extra.

The staff ID very helpfull and nice. There is no Kitchen put there ir a microwaves and a kettle to use. They offer you a welcome drink and you have 30% if you eat on the restaurante. Very good vibes and the rooms very cozy, clean and big

- in winter not a lot of people (get 2 nights on 3 alone in the dormitory) - people here and staff are lovely (special thanks to the staff for my last day and their help !!) - good quality of bed/linen and space - Nice location - very good price - clean - staff give you advices for your trip and listen to you

- no breakfast in winter (I totally understand because low tourism, but I didn't know that it is only in summer) - saturday night is very loud, lot of noise and disturbances if you have a room with windows on the street. People are outside of the bar until a easily and you heard it very well.

Nice touch to have a free drink at the bar downstairs, whether it's coffee or a beer.

Sheets for the bed weren't included, have to pay extra for those, or bring a sleeping bag if you know it in advance.
