Bathrooms and unit was tidy and seemed clean. Bed was comfy and nice to sleep on.
The unit seemed smaller than pictured and there were no chairs or couch in the unit as picture shown.
There was no private parking for customers. if you stayed at a park outside in between 9am and 6pm you had to pay $2 an hour for parking.
At one stage we were coming back to the unit and we asked a staff member if they could put a cone up or something to reserve said park as we previously went past and there were no available parks. They said that they could and to give them a few minutes because they were also managing the bar. When we got there we had to wait for a good 30 minutes or so before we could get a park outside the accommodation.

It suited our needs perfectly. Clean and comfortable
We had a man come to our door, he obviously was given the key by mistake, we were fast asleep and rudely woken. We were quite shocked. I wanted to talk to a staff member at reception but no one was available, I tried to express my disappointment. It certainly wasn't the mans fault. I thought reception would be well aware of which rooms were occupied. Hope this won't happen to someone else.

Nice room, comfy bed and clean bathroom.
The manager was rude to a female member of staff on our arrival, and was very dismissive towards us, taking forms off us and then tossing them across the counter. When asking about the parking we were told that it will “probably” be fine as they don’t tow cars until a few days later. He wasn’t very professional or friendly at all.

Nothing. Location of the place is good, but you don't get what you paid for.
Everything. Paid for a deluxe room with ensuite and got crappy little room where there was not one hook to hang anything, had to put clothes on the floor. Suggested to the owner how about somewhere to put clothes and he just laughed.Paid $400 bucks for absolute rubbish.

The room was comfy, I had a separate room so can’t comment on the dorms, although they looked tidy when I walked past.
The free breakfast was good, I didn’t have any as I had my own to get through.
Also had free look but didn’t have time to make use of that (gutted)
I would say the staff could be a bit more understanding and helpful. There was a bit of a sense of a “school teacher” vibe with them, strict rules with NO alcohol after 8 (I’m 30, I can have a beer after work), no food in the room and didn’t let me back up stairs to the kitchen after checkout (not even for a cup of my own tea!).
I think it was due to the guests being more on the younger side, that said you feel private in your own room.

Have a big car parking space , However, small rocks falling from the mountain cracked my front window, so I suggested parking the car on the side closer to the road. Not near the hillside
The cold and hot water faucets are too old and difficult to use ,not good and need more service with smile

Fantastic location! The Octagon is about three minutes away, so you're in the heart of Dunedin. The bedroom was small, but the bed was comfortable. The room was surprisingly quiet, too. The private bathroom was clean and well laid out.
The only issue was that one of the plugs in the bedroom didn't work.

Loved the location of my room. I could easily access the carpark from my room.
Walking distance to the shops & restaurants.
Having to lug my suitcase down the stairs. Used the back entrance instead.

Good location and free parking a 5 minute walk away (if you can get a space).
They provide free breakfast.
Room size was good. No privacy curtains but each bed had a shelf with a dimmable lighbulb.
Issues with key cards every day of my stay. Having to prop the doors open with door stoppers.
Felt that people didn't clean up after themselves in the kitchens and bathrooms.
People not respecting quiet hours (between 9pm and 7am), guests loud, stomping around outside at 2am.
Room wasn't properly clean, the shelf next to the bed hadn't been dusted for some time. Not enough plug chargers in the room for everyone and socket has a 1 hour timer, which I understand is for saving energy but not good for overnight charging.

Good value Good bed. Good bathroom - how much more would you get at a hotel? Not much I think.
No glass in the bedroom for water.
No way to make coffee in the morning ( we had no milk even for the hostel kitchen)
The fan in the bathroom was a nuisance noise

Quiet and comfortable
We paid online and also charged when we checked in and getting a refund was a difficult process because the staff member didn’t know how to work the eftpos machine or the till properly. It was sorted out but shouldn’t have happened at all!
Our room was around the back of the building down a long outside alley and in a completely different part of the building. Didn’t feel very safe at night.
