Great location!

Shower drain was slow, overflowing water nearly invated the room. I couldn't connect to the Wifi for internet, at least I couldn't find the instruction to connect.

Ski rental/ski school in the car park was excellent and friendly (not connected to the hotel).

This hotel has no reception desk, virtually no wifi, v poor phone network, no lounge, no hand soap, no bath mats, no shampoo, no room service during your stay (i.e. no bed-making, no fresh towels, no cleaning, bin emptied just once in the week). Staff rolled their eyes when I asked for shower gel etc. and argued about who should go and get it. Then they produced a handful of free samples, some of which were already open. The ski cellar smelt of cats-pee, our room entrance smelt of mould and the downstairs toilets (right next to the bar, with open doors) smelt of sewage. There is a smoky bar with EXTREMELY loud music (blaring indoor and outdoor), where you can have food until 7pm. No vegetarian, nothing with fresh veg. No non-smoking area unless you want to carry your food up to the breakfast room (then you have to pay first). As it's on the top of a mountain 6km away from Oberwiesenthal, if you don't have a car you have no choice but to eat here. The food was mainly disgusting - even simple things like pancakes or scrambled eggs were slimy and rubbery. A bus runs here a few times a day from the station in Oberwiesenthal, but not during/after heavy snow/not in the evenings. Taxi to Oberwiesenthal costs c. €17 each way. The mountain location should have been fantastic, but considering all accommodation in Oberwiesenthal is at the top or bottom of a ski-lift, this was not so special in the end, and we were marooned in a building with no charm and noone to advise us. For example, even though you can hire your skis and book ski school at the hut in the car park, you have to buy your lift pass at the bottom of the mountain, so you are forced to take your beginners on a 3km adventurous run down to Oberwiesenthal before you can get to the beginners' slopes. The rooms are not arranged so you get great views, except of the car park. Overpriced, no child reduction for 6-year-old.
