Great location, romantic building on a hillside just on the edge town - couldn't have been better in that respect. We were give a 'suite' with a huge bedroom, a sitting room and a big bathroom. The front-desk staff were welcoming friendly and helpful.

The Casa Da Arco gave the general impression of being the somewhat forgotten and neglected part of the more expensive establishment next door (the hotel by which it is owned). Our room/s smelt damp/unused and throughout our mid-March stay remained somewhat cold, being heated by only a small 1kw/2kw electric heater. If left on, the bathroom electric fire started to smell which was a worry. The water from the taps was rusty brown when we first arrived. The bathroom sink was badly blocked with bits floating in the water. It got a little better after we reported it, but the hotel said that they needed to get a plumber in to unblock it properly - wish they could have done that before we arrived. The bed sheets seemed like they were probably at the end of their life and felt very old. When we pulled the duvet out of the wardrobe, It seemed like the duvet cover may not have been washed for some time. These issues plus other things like one of the wardrobe doors having fallen off and being leaned up against the wardrobe (I put it back without much trouble and it worked well-enough), the door knob falling off, no light bulb in the standard lamp, the curtain stay having fallen off the wall and lying on the floor all added to the rather room-that-time-forgot impression. After reading other reviews, we thought that the breakfast next door might be a real treat. Sadly, it wasn't. It was acceptable, but to be honest nothing more than that - the least appetising that we had of the four places we stayed in. Having said all that, it was a great location and we could have loved the sense of staying in a room of an old country house, but there were just too many things wrong. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay in Sintra and despite it all I (but not my other half) have nice memories of Casa da Arco.

The location is exceptional, 1 minute from the center of Sintra. The rooms themselves are quite old but well renovated.

The room. It was smelly, damp. Not really well cleaned either. The door was hard to lock, the shower door as well. The duvets were damp. It was cold in the room so we asked for additional heater which helped a bit. However, still got cold after a stay here. No hair dryer, asked for one in the reception - there were no available. In the morning the electricity went off but the staff member quickly solved the problem. All in all, the staff was very nice, polite and helpful (never had to contact the hotel 3 times for different reasons while staying just one night) but the room itself should not be put on booking, simply outdated, wet and left us with an extremely unpleasant experience.

Breakfast was amazing! Room was clean, large and nicely decorated. Great location just a short walk from the centre.

A kettle in the room or common area would be nice to make a hot drink on a cold night. There is no heating in the room which is typical for the region, and it was rather cold so I couldn't sleep well (there was a small heater in the bathroom which I left on all night but it had little effect).

Excellent service ,allowed to park car early in day .Huge room in the annex with excellent facilities . Staff very pleasant and helpful

Casa do Arco is a great place to stay at in Sintra - it is very central, close to most amenities, and the staff are very helpful. Great stay overall :)

Strange way of ordering and serving breakfast. We understood that this was in connection with Covid measures but it resulted that the breakfast was a bit pure as the staff brought it and didn't appear anymore. We had a feeling they are afraid of us although we had to show our Covid passes. We visited further accommodations in Lisabon and on Algarve during the same week and the way of serving breakfast there was much more convenient there.

We got placed in a wonderful room in Lawrence’s Hotel just down the street of Casa do Arco. Due to covid we got our breakfast served in our room every morning which was perfect; really nice breakfast! All the staff of Lawrence’s Hotel were super kind and very helpful - thank you for speaking English. The first night when we arrived late they made reservations for us at a very nice restaurant in Sintra. We would definitely come back here if we visit Sintra again!

staff is not so competent. they told us to park on the street, we asked them to confirm that we parked well, and the day after we got a fine. they sent us to a wrong address even to pay the fine... complex to get there by car, even impossible is there is any cut road as it happened on the 2nd day.
