I was hesitant at first because this was my first time trying a 'local' hotel brand. But I can now say without hesitation that this hotel is amazing - it far exceeded my expectations. I arrived at 7am with my kids exhausted and sleeping. No problem - the staff were able to check me in early. Clean, cozy, comfortable rooms. No fuss at all. So immediately, my impressions were positive. The beach is amazing - powdery sand, clean and right in front of the property. Quite simply a world class beach. The pool is amazing - at just the right temperature. And with separate kids pool. Kids facilities- amazing. They have a fully equipped indoor play area, with several staff in attendance. Breakfast was good - full range of local and western foods available. Yes, all of it was amazing. And I don't often give compliments when they aren't deserved. But above all, it is the staff that really blew me away. Kind. Friendly. Warm. Professional. They really put us and the kids at ease. The service they provided really put 5 star international hotel brands to shame. I'll remember this hotel for a long time, and wouldn't hesitate coming again.

Nothing, to be frank. This was an amazing stay. They exceeded my expectations.

Gyönyörűen felújított szálloda, az eredetit megőrző stílusban, értékőrző módon. Szép a partja, tágas, tengerfelé néző szobánk volt, nagy terasszal. Már a fogadtatás is nagyon kedves volt, Ali nevű menedzser személyében es később is egész ott létünk alatt. Hálásak vagyunk neki, hogy ajánlott egy vezetést a szállodán belül, Sanduni kollégája nagyon lelkesen es felkészülten ismertette a szálloda építészeti történetét, a festményeket, bútorokat és műtárgyak is beleértve. Fantasztikus volt a ételek választéka, minősége és íze. Igazi gasztronómiai élmény volt, amit még kiegészített a pincérek kedvessége és figyelmessége. Közülük Chandima és Lassan külön is kiemelkedett.

A medencék nagyok, tiszták voltak, de sajnos a víz olyan melege volt benne, hogy se úszni, se lehűlni nem lehetett benne. A hőségben (35-37 Celsius) nagyon jól esett volna, mivel az óceán gyakran olyan nagyon hullámzott, hogy inkább a medencét választottuk.

Действительно красивый отель в колониальном стиле с большой ухоженной территорией. Спокойно и кинематографично. Замечательный пляж и рядом река с невероятной экскурсией, где можно встретить варана, крокодила, обезьян, разнообразных птиц и летучих мышей и т.д.. Также недалеко красивые буддийские храмы. Кстати, вкусный завтрак.

А вот сырость в номерах просто убивала. Она испортила все впечатление. Невозможно жить в такой влажности. Запах, мокрая одежда, обшарпалось в номерах - все это по причине плохой вентиляционной системы. Ну и цены на напитки в отеле, как и в других подобных отелях, сильно завышены. Место достаточно тихое, ресторанов мало. В самом отеле есть только один доп. рыбный ресторан. В этом месте наверное лучше брать и включенный ужин. Или можно прогуляется по пляжу и уже там найти нормальные места для местных туристов. Цены в два раза ниже. Еда вкусная. А напитки лучше покупать в супермаркете. Очень вкусный местный ром калипсо.

Понравилось месторасположение, атмосфера отеля. Небольшое количество европейских туристов. Хорошие виды, пляж и бассейн. Хорошие завтраки.

Вентиляция в номерах ужасная. Испортила все впечатление. Один минус, который реально стоит исправить отелю, ну и сделать небольшой косметический ремонт в номере. Очень темно и сыро.

We picked this hotel as our last stop before leaving Sri Lanka to have a super relaxing experience. We mostly did. The rooms are well equipped, we even got a complimentary upgrade to a Sea View room. The pool area is gorgeous, loved the fact that the water is not treated with smelly chemicals. The are enough sunbeds and towels. The sandy beach by the ocean is very clean and the ocean lukewarm, not crowded at all. There are a few sunbeds by the beach but there are local guides stalking so we mostly left our belongings on the territory if the hotel because it’s a public area. We ate at SMS restaurant, it was pricey compared to other locations in Sri Lanka but it was always delicious, literally everything we ate was good. I want to mention here the waiter Pramodoya who was very fast and remembered all our preferences. The selection of beer is not very big, but the cocktails are super nice, highly recommending Passion Fruit Martiny by Damith (bartender) and the Cinnamon Garden. We also had 2 hours massage at the hotel spa, it was ok, but there is a weird policy of delivering massage through clothes, so don’t wear a good shirt, it will never ruined.

There are however a few details which I would expect a 5* hotel to manage better: 1. The rooms would require a bit of renovation, i.e upgrade of tiles in the bathroom and silicon isolation in the shower; 2. The reception staff doesn’t have a decent level of spoken English so it was very hard to get the answers to our questions, same for the waiters, our feeling was that some of the don’t know English letters and can’t neither remember our orders neither understand when we showed with the finger on the menu what we want; 3. The reception staff didn’t want to book for us a transfer to the airport only put us in touch with a driver to talk ourselves which made us feel uncomfortable and worried if the driver understood us correctly; 4. There was a wedding 2 out of 4 days during our stay, nobody was explicit about this so when we were supposed to enjoy our 2h spa, we were listening to Justin Bieber instead of relaxing music, the next day wedding continued by the main pool and super loud hindi music played all day, tbh we wouldn’t come to Cinnamon if we knew about the wedding; 5. The breakfast… it’s not suggestive at all where the fruits, vegetables and cheeses are, I feel like most of the guests had the same issue as almost nobody had any of these on their plates.

Lovely restaurant location by the river. Green with birds chirping and squirrel s playing. Pristine beach and lovely service from their staff.

Everything was perfect.

We absolutely loved our 3 night stay at Cinamon Bentota. Mr. Ali was very accomodating and even gave my 1 year old daughter a plush toy upon arrival. The facilities were excellent, we enjoyed the pool, pool bar, kids club and the views from our room. The food at the buffet restaurant was amazing and the staff were very helpful! Would definitely recommend this place for a family or couple to relax and enjoy.

Calm and peaceful with lots of resort space. Loved the pool area and the beach so much.

The staff was extremely courteous and the property is exceptionally well designed.

The location in front of the sea. The kindness and professionalism of the staff mostly at the restaurant, at the swimming pool and the housekeeping team. Lasan was a very nice and smiling waiter! We loved his service. The quality of the food excellent and as well the room.

The breakfast was nice and the service in the morning was more acceptable than the rest of the stay. The food was good. The service manager was very friendly and kind, attempting to help us as we faced an onslaught of issues staying at this hotel.

The service was atrocious. There was a wedding happening during the same time as our stay and it seemed like the entire hotel was severely understaffed. We waited 40 minutes to get checked into the hotel, and then the lock of the first room we attempted to stay in was broken. We found out after that we had been "upgraded" to a worse room, after requesting our previous room they said it was fully booked. After waiting another 30 minutes in another room (we booked 2), the hotel staff escorted us to another room that had not been cleaned. We then waited for them to clean the room and after 2 hours, we couldn't get into the room. We attempted to call the reception for updates, but no one picked up the phones. After complaining to the service manager we managed to geta room around 10:30pm. (we arrived at the hotel around ~7 pm.) The wedding continued until ~10 pm with some of the rooms right outside of the DJ. The inside of the rooms are poor, they have stains on the counters and grim within the showers/bathrooms. For the price you're paying, you're not getting a 5-star experience.

Check in process is not great, we waited over an hour for checkin. We knew we were early but there was no communication from staff and we didn’t know if we should wait or go to the pool. Each time we asked we were just told a few moments. If checkin is advertised for 2pm rooms should be ready for this time. We didn’t get our room until nearly 2:45pm and we were only there for one night. Staff were also not very helpful, if they didn’t know the answer to where the gym was they would send you asking lots of people to find it

Overrun by mosquitos in the rooms, food area and closed bar / lounge. I have not experienced anything like this in other hotels in Sri Lanka / Bentota. Extortionate prices and the price at check out with tax and one additional night was 3x the price I booked it for. There are better hotels in the area for half the price. Had it not been for a wedding, I would not have booked here. It does not feel like a 5* property.

The entire hotel is great. We stayed in a beach view room. Rooms was big and very well designed. The pools are big so plenty of space. The pool Bar is a bonus. The breakfast buffet is very good and so was dinner. It's nice that you have a choice to seat in Air conditioned area or not.

The view on the beach was covered by trees so couldn't see the beech or see. It wasn't clear if the guys where part of the staff (i guess not as they didn't have uniforms) as they try to sale you some packages (Boat ride, sky jet, experience of releasing baby turtles in the sea, etc.). Sri Lankan see is always a bit rough sea so you can always use the pool.

The staffs were marvelous. The location great. The layout of the property is peaceful.

There was nothing that I did not like.

Lovely hotel, large, spacious, airy, well decorated indoor spaces. The room we had was enormous, comfy bed and very well equipped, with everything we needed. The balcony was also huge with a settee, coffee table and table and chairs with a view of the gardens, palm trees and swimming pools. The staff were very attentive and friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The breakfast buffet was excellent and both swimming pools were really warm, as was the sea. My wife and I also liked the morning yoga class on the jetty by the river.

We couldn’t fault it.

The location is great, there is the Ocean on one side and a lagoon on the other, so we could spend a lot of time in water having fun on our holiday. They have a great Indian Chef, Sunny Mehta, who made our stay special by making unique Indian dishes for us during our stay very special.

Some niggling problem with the AC system which had a leakage, had to be fixed twice, but they were helpful in setting it right.
