Excellent location, very helpful and friendly staff, breakfast was very good each morning, food was well prepared and service was excellent, served with a smile, room was spacious and the bed was very comfy. Bathroom was superb. Room was very clean and the hotel was very clean all over. We will book again if we are down in Durham again

The decor, the Christmas atmosphere with a live singer. The amazing staff and extra bits in the rooms that add comfort.

Can’t really be helped but just make sure you time it right to get a car parking space. The Marco Pierre restaurant also isn’t up to par for the price.

The friendly attentive staff, the cleanliness, the superb food (evening meal and breakfast), the comfortable bed. All exceptionally good.

Location; building

Restaurant food was disappointing. Dinner was not very good and cooked breakfast was precooked and reheated. We paid for a superking bed plus cathedral view and were given neither until we complained and were moved from the second night. We were not offered a refund for the amount we overpaid. We were given free drink vouchers as an apology but the restaurant would not take them to pay for a glass of wine. Check in was efficient but rushed and unfriendly.

We got a terrible room for the money we paid. It was below the main sidewalk with a tiny little window so it was very dark and damp.

I like the interesting building, and how our room had been decorated.

The fact that everything had clearly been installed with a tall man in mind - shampoo and shower gel a bit too high in the shower, light switches a bit too far up and so on. Also, there was no min ceiling light in the main part of the room, so when it was dark or the curtains were drawn, it was very dark in that room.

Great location. The building was beautiful and loved the cards to get access through the corridors so it was safe. Breakfast was nice.

The room we were in was quite noisy on the top floor from noise of the fans outside of the window.
