Oceanfront Cottage in Milbridge ~ME~

Cabin and property was great. Host was great. Many things to do in area. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time staying at this cottage in Milbridge.
First let me talk about the cottage. The cottage was the perfect size for our group of 5 and had everything you would need to be comfortable. We enjoyed exploring the long rocky beach on our daily walks and sitting on the deck. The property is very well maintained and private, with a good amount of space between the neighboring homes. Location wise, it is just a few minutes to town and not far from Bar Harbor.
The area was a lovely surprise. There were ample places to eat and go see. I recommend a drive up to Jasper Beach and Mexican food at Vazquez. There is a grocery store right in town and we found it had everything we could need.
All communications with the owner were excellent with super fast responses. The property owner's have family next door who were very nice and gave us some excellent suggestions on things to go see and places to eat during our stay. It was nice to have that resource nearby.
Overall we had a fantastic stay and will be planning on coming back.

The place was exactly as listed, well stocked with everything you need for a great Maine experience. The owner had goodies upon are arrival that we very much appreciated and if you need anything, the owners are very easy to contact. Overall I give this place a 5/5.

We stayed there for a week with our two dogs. We were looking for a place to have fun but also to relax. The house is located on the shore of the bay and is very quiet. The backyard is large, and our dogs enjoyed running there. The house is very clean and well-equipped for a long stay. The property is close to several nice trails, so we could hike every day. There are a few local shops nearby. We had breakfast with tasty pastries from a nearby bakery, Sugar & Crumbs, and enjoyed fresh fish, lobsters, and clams from Chipman’s Wharf every day. The owners are perfect hosts, very friendly and welcoming. We appreciated the basket of local products they organized for us at the property.

We had a wonderful week staying in Milbridge. The view from the home is amazing. We enjoyed walks on the beach and bonfires overlooking the water every evening. Yhe home was clean, and we had everything we needed. James was easy to communicate with amf made sure we had local recommendations. We had an amazing time.

We had a very relaxing week at the cottage. It was clean, cozy and comfortable with a beautiful view. While our trip was late in the season, we were still able to spend time down at the beach and have a lobster dinner at the picnic table watching the sunset. Owners were great! Accessible, responsive and super nice - though we did not have a single issue. We would definitely return. Thank you James!

We had a great time down on the rocky beach front and there was plenty of lawn to let our dogs enjoy the vacation as well. The cottage was clean and contained most everything necessary for a leisurely week. James was great and was available for anything that was needed. We would certainly stay there again.

We totally enjoyed our stay at this cottage. We felt at home as soon as we walked in the door. The cottage is light and bright with a charming ocean decor, including framed posters to help guests identify the sea birds you see and the shells you find on the beach.
We found the owner and his father (who lives next door) to be friendly and welcoming. Jim next door was available if we had any questions or issues during our stay ( we had none as everything was perfect).
The cottage was clean, the kitchen well equipped, and there was a well stocked pantry. The beds were very comfortable.
Outside you find a wonderful view of the water from the deck, large yard or Adirondack chairs. During mid and low tide there is a large beach area to walk, or bring a chair down to and just relax. The property is quiet and private with just the sounds of birds, the waves, and the boats heading out to fish or haul lobsters and then returning home.
In town there is a grocery store and a number of restaurants and shops. Just be aware most places close between 7:30 and 8:00.
We truly had a lovely vacation at this cottage and it was hard to pack the car and head back home.

This was a wonderful property that was well maintained and included all basic amenities as well as a great supply of tea and coffee (which we drink in large quantities) and maple syrup that my kids used every day on their pancakes. Laundry was great, clean, worked efficiently. Host was responsive and helpful, and was very helpful when a few issues arose. We will definitely plan to stay again, and you absolutely cannot beat the view and the area.

This is a well equipped and cozy cottage with views you will never forget. So peaceful with only the sounds of birds, breeze and water. Don't miss the Knotty Lobster for lobster stew, lobster rolls and mozz moons - just 5 minutes away. There is also a very convenient grocery store. Bring your binoculars so you don't miss the deer, fox, seals, osprey and other birds. Awesome

Amazing sunsets, private beach. Eagles and ospreys. whitetail deer too many to count.
Wonderful hosts. Location is perfect for close day trips to Schoodic peninsula, petit manam and many more trails to explore! Visit Chipman’s wharf for excellent fresh seafood. The cottage has everything you need to make lasting memories! We even were able to see the Milky Way from the cottage deck. So many reasons to plan another stay at this wonderful property!

We had a wonderful week at this waterfront cottage! It's very clean, private, well stocked & has lots of thoughtful little touches that you make you feel at home. SO relaxing to sit by the water & listen to the tide come in! We kayaked, did several great oceanfront hikes nearby, took day trips to Campobello Island & Bar Harbor and had a wonderful rainy day for reading & puzzles. Highly recommend the lobster rolls at Chipman's Wharf! James & his family were wonderful -attentive, helpful, but never intrusive. FYI-Wifi is great for those of us who sometimes take a 'hybrid' vacation.

The cottage was charming and decorated well. It included alot more pantry items than we expected. Only complaint is the TV is rather small and brush could be cleared out to improve the view.

Wonderful Grandparents/Grandsons Experience
We were looking for an opportunity to share a Maine experience with our grandsons and this place fit the bill so well! We totally enjoyed the waterfront and exploring the coastline right outside our front door. Yet this location allowed relatively easy access to Bar Harbor, Acadia, Lubec, and Cutler outdoor experiences. The cottage was simple, quaint, and cozy. It gave us the "One Morning in Maine" Robert McCluskey setting that we desired...
We easily give it a 5 star rating!

A hidden treasure
My friends and I were thrilled with our week in Milbridge. The cottage was clean and fully equipped - even paper goods were provided. The owners, Jim and Susan, were friendly and helpful. We loved the water view and the opportunity to beach comb. An added bonus was the 3 gorgeous sunsets. We also enjoyed the quiet location but the town and the markets were only 10 minutes away.

Just like a home-a-way from home. But better- its vacation. Jim&Sue were best, on top of what ever we needed. And great for ideas on places to go and things to do and see . Also kind and thoughtful, yet not over bearing or intrusive. From, Bob&Kim O

We had a wonderful time staying here. The owners are a great couple and a wealth of information on Maine.
The house is clean, comfortable and affords a beautiful view. It's located on a quiet street where deer can often be seen.

From peaceful to packed full days.
So many great things in the experience of staying here. Cozy home, well equipped, private and quiet, great yard for frolicking in, beach combing or just sitting and enjoying the energy of the water, amazing sunsets, and many attractions in the surrounding areas, not to mention how wonderful the homeowners are! Wish we had made arrangements to stay two weeks. Next year!

Love Maine and this Cottage
We stayed in this adorable cottage by the sea with friends. There were 4 adults and 4 children ages 10 - 15. (3 boys, 1 girl) Our friends brought a small pop-up camper for the three boys to sleep in so the lone girl would have some privacy. We had everything we needed. Even with 8 people we never ran out of hot water. We combed the beach for shells, explored the inlet in kayaks, stargazed to our hearts content, marveled at the way the fog rolled in from the ocean, and ate the best seafood we have ever had! Jim is a knowledgeable and friendly host. Sue has decorated the cottage in a charming nautical theme. Make sure you get your seafood from Chipman's! We highly recommend this cottage for a quiet, secluded, relaxing vacation!

Highly recommend and we hope to return!
My husband and our two daughters (ages 8 and 5) stayed at the cottage in August and had a fantastic time. Jim and Sue were delightful, friendly and welcoming. We spent many mornings on the beach looking for sea glass and shells...the girls loved the beach and the big lawn with plenty of room for cartwheels. Beautiful sunsets. Peaceful. Private. The cottage was comfortable and relaxing, and we appreciated the furnishings. The entire experience far exceeded our expectations. We were happy to just hang out at the cottage and on the beach...but did venture out to do a few nearby hikes (Pigeon Hill, and another one farther down that road) and to Schoodic Point...gorgeous. Thank you Jim and Sue for a fun, memorable and relaxing experience!

Phenomenal vacation spot! The cottage is so pretty and clean and fresh, the deck is so relaxing, the yard is so huge, the view is so phenomenal, the water is so beautiful and the owners are so warm and friendly and accommodating! Jim and Sue have created an oasis in this quaint and peaceful cottage, minutes from the grocery store and delicious restaurants! :) We highly recommend the hike to Pigeon Hill and Jim's whale watching boat trip!

A much needed vacation. ..
My family and I had never been to Milbridge before. This was certainly a terrifically enjoyable vacation. Our hosts Sue and Jim we're extremely helpful with anything we needed. The view from our home for the week was simply breath-taking. The dog loved to run around the large yard and exploring the private beach.I went on a whale watch on Jim's boat and got so close that you could practically reach out and touch them.Milbridge is a charming little town, but it's not a busy town with lots of attractions like Wells. It's main attraction is the sea views and the quiet. Also when you come down be aware that there are no restaurants open past 8.I would highly reccomend this house to anyone who wants a memorable vacation.

We Loved It !!
We loved your little cottage - It was charming, clean, and everything we needed for a week on the ocean. We enjoyed watching the changing tide, combing the beach, and climbing on the rocks. Many thanks to Jim and Sue for their wonderful hospitality. The ride on Jim's lobster boat was a highlight of our trip - seeing lighthouses, seals, islands, and puffins. It was also a great base camp for our day trips to Acadia Nat'l Park, Bar Harbor, McLellan Park, Pidgeon Hill Trail, West Quoddy Head Lighthouse. Perfect location for watching sunsets over the ocean !.

Great Vacation Spot!
Our family had a great vacation here! The house was very clean and had everything you could need and more...The view was beautiful. Jim and Sue were very kind and personable. House was very private. The kids and our dog spent hours along the shore looking in the tidal pools and collecting seashells. We drove to FDR's summer home on Campobello Island in Canada. It was beautiful! Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park is a must! Great time to be had here...peace, quiet, solitude and the sea! Our kids and dog were sad to leave. We are already planning on coming back here next summer!

FANTASTIC! FANTASTIC! FANTASTIC! - Words can't describe how wonderful the cottage is!
We would give Jim and Sue's cottage 10 stars if we could! The descriptions and pictures pale in comparison to the actual cottage and location. We (2 adults and 4 kids) found the cottage to be everything we hoped for in a Maine vacation. Well decorated, clean, fully stocked with necessities, and small enough to be cozy yet big enough to give us all space. We enjoyed several days of just exploring the beaches and rocks on the property. The tidal changes were amazing. Morning coffee on the edge of the water was picture perfect for us. Jim and Sue are fabulous hosts and Jim's recommendations were spot on for great days - the beach at Petit Menan as well as his secluded beach across the road - take time for both of these. Our kids fell in love with the ocean. The boat ride to see the light houses, wildlife, and lobster traps was also a highlight. Good location for day trips to Bar Harbor, Machias, and Cherryfield. Milbridge is a very friendly, quiet village with everything you need right there. Lobsters are available at several places on the way to Petit Menan - and they were superb! Perfect for a family get away or a romantic retreat - this cottage cannot be beat! Thanks Jim and Sue!

Paradise in my own state!
Who knew paradise was only 60 miles from home?! My husband, myself and a very spoiled dog spent a week in Milbridge during the first week of September 2010. The cottage was charming and very comfortable with every amenity you could need (even a crockpot to make garden fresh tomato sauce). Jim and Sue (the owners) make you feel like it is your home away from home and had very good ideas of things to do, Mclellan Park, or a hiking trail that you have to be a local to find, even a lobster boat trip with Jim captaining his own boat. (those lobsters couldn't have gotten any fresher!!) We had such a great time we are glad we did a "staycation" this year and are thinking of how gorgeous it must be in the fall with the changing leaves.
This cottage is a fabulous place to either use as home base to explore Downeast Maine, Acadia region or even Mt Katahdin (about 1half hours away). I highly recommend to anyone looking to enjoy Maine the way it should be. I know we will be going back!!

Wonderful, relaxing vacation spot on the bay
My husband, 2 dogs, and I spent a week at this cottage and loved it. The house is very clean, cheerful, and comfortable while the yard is large, private, well-tended, and overlooks a gorgeous bay. We spent several hours on the beach each day with our dogs
who were able to run and explore to their hearts' content. The owners live in the house next door and were very friendly and helpful, but not at all intrusive.
Within an hour's drive, the town of Ellsworth has a very nice natural food store (John Edwards Market) and several nice restaurants, including Cleonice, where we ate and found the food outstanding. Also within an hour's drive is Acadia National Park, which is an absolutely beautiful place for driving, hiking, or camping.

Great place for Maine vacation
We spend a week around 4th of July in this cottage. It's excellent vacation place for pretty much anyone who want to visit Maine. Ocean front, huge yard for kids to play, quite and cozy - you don't see any neighbors. Has everything you need - kitchen & bath stuff, nice grills, outdoor furniture. Grocery and couple restaurants just few minutes away. Owned by nice people, who also doing boat tours, so if you not a fun of 50+ tourist on one whale watching tour you might consider more private excursion.
