First of all was the perfect location which was so close to the beach and only a short walk from the centre of town. The amenities were better than we had expected and would be perfect for families with children as there’s plenty of equipment, for both beach and other outdoor activities, all for the use of guest with no extra costs

Only the top floor has this but that’s only a small issue as it’s only a short walk from the main beach which makes up for that

By the sea is exactly that- by the sea. Our room was called “cozy” but it was much better than that. A kitchenette with a good size fridge ample storage, a small lounge room with private courtyard and BBQ.

En primer lugar me llamó la atención positivamente recibir un email con instrucciones para tomar la habitación porque estaba llegando después de la hora en que cierra la recepción. Me sentí muy bien porque se notaba una preocupación por el cliente.
La arquitectura, los colores, y las instalaciones me parecieron muy lindas, cómodas y diferentes a lo que se acostumbra en un hotel.
Me llamó la atención que todo el staff era femenino y la forma en que se presentan es muy cálida.
La atención al día siguiente fue muy acogedora y a pesar que dejaba la habitación temprano me permitieron dejar mi equipaje, el auto estacionado y usar la piscina antes de retirarme.

Staff very helpful, pool warm, laundry facility and bathroom very good. They have thought of everything, coffee pods and kitchen equipment great. Bed large and very comfortable . Bikes looked great and overall it feels like the owner has made it a labour of love.

The staff were absolutely fantastic, from check in and being escorted to our room and any questions during our stay to booking on tours. The facilities were exceptional with the rooms being provided with just a little extra like spray oil for the bbq, washing powder for laundry, paper towel in the kitchen. They resort also provided practical items which after travelling by plane we were unable to bring such as eskies, trolleys and beach chairs which could be taken over to the beach.
The resort is a little noisy, with conversations being heard through across multiple balconies

Amazing, friendly, bubbly girls. Nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect, less than a minute walk to the beach, a couple of minutes walk into the town which has everything you need, shops, restaurants, bars and groceries. Our apartment was clean, comfortable and very well equipped, with a great view. Facilities were excellent!!!! Wish we could of stayed longer.

Parking outside apartment not easy as it was narrow and difficult to turn car around the shared drive, however it was free to park on the street or the beach car park.

From arriving to By the Sea Port Douglas until we left we were treated so well by all the Girls 👧 Full explanation about the place and our superb Apartment 44 was given in detail by Kate, who originally hails Kerry, and being Irish visitors ourselves, the lilt of her Kerry brogue was lovely. We were amazed at how close the accommodation was to the beautiful 4 mile stretch of beach, and the detail to facilities for personal use.....beach equipment, bikes, trolleys, towels, laundry, etc, etc.....was unbelievable and very much appreciated 😀

The staff at the By the Sea were so friendly and had lots of recommendations for what to do and where to eat. There were also lots of items available in the lobby for the guests to use - towels, floaties, water, games, movies, umbrellas, etc. By the Sea is conveniently located right on the main street of Port Douglas, where tons of restaurants and shops were just a short walk away. Also, it is less than 500 feet from 4 Mile Beach which is the perfect place to watch the sunrise or hangout and go swimming. The room was extremely clean and had a beautiful view of palm trees and the ocean.
Not a con, but the reception desk is only open during the day, so if you have any early flight out the next day make sure to pay for your room the day before!

Lovely and helpful staff, clean and really comfortable, easy location right at the end of the main street of Port Douglas (great beach access if you're going to Four Mile Beach). Not a "luxury resort"-style hotel, but clean, friendly, quirky, and welcoming, and has everything you need (and way more - bikes, puzzles, DVDs, beach accessories, etc). Definitely exceeded our expectations. We had a great experience, and would highly recommend it.

All around lovely. Right on the beach, and next to restaurants. Very clean spacious room. Very comfortable. Staff were so nice and surprised us with 2 bottles of beer & a card for my boyfriends birthday. Can’t rate this place enough!
