A lot of amenities were included in the room rate & the room was a good size. Staff are very helpful.
Nothing not to like about the property. However, the Akanso Onsen appears a bit tired. There are a number of shuttered hotels & shops.

The view was excellent and resort was located right next to the lakeside with a boardwalk leading to the mud pools. There was also a small shrine nearby at the top of the hill where you can get very nice sunset photos. We were amazed to see deers running out of the woods and wandering outside the resort.
Would have been good if we were given bedroom slippers to wear in the bedroom instead of socks. Happy hour at the bar could have been extended, by the time we finished our dinner, the happy hour was over and we didn't have a chance to try out some of the free flow drinks at the bar during our stay.

The hotel has good breakfast, dinner, and servise. The drink and ice cream are free, and also the milk in hot spring. The location is good. It is very close to Aka lake and other stores.
The desk staff do not have good English ability.

Everything was exceptional at the hotel. Definitely the best service in all of the onsen ryokans in Hokkaido.
transportation was a bit hard without renting a car. But it isn't really the hotel's fault.

The room is nice and spacious. The bed is super comfortable. Meal is delicious.
No choice of breakfast, cannot chose a western breakfast. Staff speaks limited English.

Big beautiful room that is very well equipped.
Poor service during meals from the japanese crew except the chinese lady and the last japanese lady.
They seemed to be in such hurry. They try to put everything on the table almost all at once and disappear..😓. Werent told of our entitlement to free drinks during check in except from the chinese lady who explained everything in detailed. Asked about the ice fishing from the concierge and he could not give us any information. Just asked us to go find it out ourselves ! Instead, we got some information from the chinese lady that served us during the first 2 days.
The hot tub in the room was DIRTY WITH GRIME AROUND THE BORDERS OF THE TUB. NOT LIKE A LITTLE BUT A LOT! Really gross me out!😖
