A great inexpensive place to spend a few days.
The bungalows are separated by bushes, which provides privacy. There is a socket for charging. The Internet is caught through a cellular connection. Magnificent beaches and a walk to the other shore of the island.

Jungle hut accommodation on a tropical island
The food was great - I am in awe of what the chef, Douglas, was able to create in a small galley kitchen powered for a short amount of time by a generator. Delicious and great portions. I loved the huts on the private beach, each with their own separate toilet&shower hut. The beds were great. Drinking water was replenished daily and I never ran out. Drink prices were reasonable when compared to other places in Vanuatu. The people were fabulous - a massive thank you to the delightful Linda who took me snorkelling, she was full of energy and was really fun to be around. The paths were clearly marked and easy to walk on, they were raked over regularly so they remained well kept. I relaxed, snorkelled, relaxed again, did a bunch of reading while sunning myself. It's important to note that you should take reef shoes as the beaches are coral so will hurt if you don't have them.
Information on what to do on the island once we got there was not exactly abundant. Normally I would have researched this myself but this booking was a last-minute one to replace the holiday I had planned in Tanna but couldn't get to. There were dive suits but no one mentioned going diving. There was a walk to a secluded beach but I only knew about that from another traveller - apparently they can give you a packed lunch to take with you and you get one of the dogs to show you the way, no one on the island mentioned it until I said I had already tried to get there but had to turn back as it was a really difficult and painful walk for me - I have had bad knee surgery and climbing over massive tree roots and in and through rocks. I also had a problem with rats getting into the hut. There are heaps of repairs around the resort that need to be made, one of them is the deterioration of the woven reeds in Fare2, the hut I stayed in. After the first night, one of the dogs took it upon itself to sleep right at the opening and so prevented the rats from coming in again. I know it's a jungle island and wildlife is to be expected, but the accommodation needs to be maintained.

Superb
Gorgeous peaceful island. Great snorkeling. Relaxed atmosphere. Very casual.
The only thing we didn't like was the amount of plastic litter lying around. It was very off putting.

the real Bonnie Doon
Tranquility, serenity, peace. This is the real Bonnie Doon. 30 minute ride from airport, 15 minute boat ride to island, then peace. Dolphins, dugongs, turtles, fish and coral galore. Straight out from your Bure or within a short walk. No car noise, no street lights, only sounds is from other guests or the lapping ocean. Thick black nights = maximum star gazing. Take the time to get to Fred’s Beach. It is spec-tac-ular. Ask the kitchen for a picnic lunch as you’ll need to spend hours there. 75 minute hike, private beach, crystal clear water, deep coral, little cave to explore. You won't want to leave. The best part is the tour guide, Boots the dog. She will take you there, stay with you and guide you back (take some water for her as there’s no fresh water and she won't leave until you’re done.). There is nothing luxurious about the living quarters at this resort, it is very basic. Do not come here if you’re a sook. 4 hours of electricity, 1 wifi hot spot, dinner is placed in front of you and it’s that or nothing (which removes all the thinking about meals and you’ll be famished). Lots of walking and sightseeing or you can chill out in a hammock. Reef shoes and a torch are a must. One highlight is attending meals with the other guests and comparing what you’ve each discovered over the day. Some great connections made. Diving can be arranged twice a day, snorkelling and sunshine all day. The staff are gentle, kind, hardworking and will do whatever they can to make your stay better. Be kind to them, bring them gifts as they deserve all the love. The new manager, Evante, has some great ideas for small improvements – like the bonfire! A great evening for everyone. Hopefully she’ll be given some leash unlike other past managers who have burnt out inside 2 years. FYI – she loves talking about horror movies and we happened across a dolls head on one of our walks. We may or may not have scared the crap out of her by putting it on the well. Pure gold! Love you, Evante.
The major downside for us was seeing how the owner (Owen) and his best buddy (Stan) treated the local staff members. Rude, obnoxious, tight, unappreciative, belittling, penny-pinching, smug old dudes. Any suggestions or variations are denied just because they don’t like change. No repairs or upkeep has been done in years. The staff work 12+ hour days and some stay on the premises. No amenities allowed, half the roof blown off and they’re permitted to eat whatever the dogs don’t and some bread. I do not joke. Early one morning, Stan called out that a light had been left on at our Bure overnight and he was coming down to turn it off. I replied that we were still sleeping (1 woman, 2 children), he then ENTERED OUR ROOM to turn the light off. When confronted, both he and the owner justified his actions as being totally acceptable. Like, what now? Again, I do not joke or embellish. If this is how they’re treating paying guests, imagine how they’re treating staff! I can think of many 4 lettered words appropriate for these two Australian people.

Superb
Superb tasting meals were conjured in the jungle. The house reef was quite nice with moray eels, turtles, sea snakes, puffers and the usual reef fish. Healthy corals are always a joy.
Water for drinking did not really do the trick for pampered taste buds.
