This is a good place to stay, right in the center of town of nags head with a lot of good resteraunts and activities for the children to do. The only down side to the property it is a little outdated. That being said it was still a clean property to stay in.

The pictures do not do this property justice. The house was beautiful, clean, and had everything and more our large family could need. Inside and outside were very clean. PLENTY of spacious bedrooms and living space. Everything was in working order, ready upon check-in, easy check-out. Very close to grocery store, restaurants (we enjoyed Mama Kwan’s fish tacos, the Beachcomber Tiki Hut hidden behind the Ramada on the ocean, & Swells’a Brewery), and tourist attractions like mini golf, Jockys Ridge and the Wright Bros Memorial. Would definitely recommend and would stay again! Thank you for a wonderful vacation!

We’ve been coming to Banks with our children and now our grandchildren for the past 34 years, and this is the best house we’ve ever rented! The rooms were amazing and big - lots of masters with not only bathtubs AND showers, but walk-in closets as well. There were extra rooms as well - for games or reading or a temporary office. The way the extra rooms led to the decks was ideal as well - no bedrooms disturbed by people hanging out late on the deck. Also, the outdoor shower was great - the showerhead worked great (not all rusty and only giving a trickle). The location was perfect - in Nagshead but close to Kill Devil Hills. We could walk to lots of our favorite places (Kill Devil Grill, Tortugas Lie, Harris Teeter, Helen’s and various ice cream places).We will be back!

we had 10 people stay. The houses was great, lots of room, very clean. I loved all the different sitting rooms, and playing pool provided some fun during the rain. The location of the house was great, it was close to stores and plenty of places to eat, including a great candy store and fudge store. The pool was very clean, but cold it was really needs to be heated. We brought our golden ret. who loved the beach as well. There were a lot of stairs, and the worst part was the the entrance to the beach had no stairs, but a steep stand hill. I think there may have been stair at some time but now it's just covered it sand. This was a problem for some of our family. Other than that I would stay here again.

Our group of 14 -- grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins -- had a wonderful week at Smooth Sailing. The kitchen is extremely well-equipped, the beach views and proximity are fantastic, there is lots of room for everyone and the management company was very responsive to all our questions. Highly recommend.

We had a great time at the place. We had always stayed in Duck, but this year we went to Nags Head. There is much, much more to do along with grocery shopping less than a mile away.
The pool was fine and the 2nd floor access to the beach was easy to handle. We loved the high chairs on the top floor porch. The place was well stocked with plates silverware and glasses.
The only problem we had was that the week we were there, the temperatures were well into the 90’s and the air conditioner on the 3rd floor would not hold the set temperature. In the morning it would be back to the set temperature. We called and they were responsive and somebody did come out. Also the pool light in the pool was out and they sent somebody out to look at it. We hadn’t noticed it until the end of the stay.
We would definitely stay there again.

However, the finish on the dining room table is overall sticky. Possibly wrong kind of paint was used, we used a sheet as a tablecloth.

Our first experience with Beach Realty was great. They are very friendly, professional & quick to respond.
The only reason for 4 out of 5 stars on general condition, is that some items need to be replaced/upgraded/fixed, (I.e. hot tube jets very weak, ground level fridge missing shelves, gas grill has extreme grease build up).
The main kitchen fridge was replaced (new) while we were there.

Overall good
Great location. Very spacious house. Somewhat strange layout, but accommodating. The check-in process was terrible. We were told we would be contacted to check-in and never received communication. We finally just showed up and the house was ready. It would have been nice to know further in advance given we were traveling with small children.

We were happy with the house. The sand dune hill at the end of the walkway from the house was difficult for the three of us that are almost 80 years old to negotiate. The young people dug it down somewhat and it appears that under the sand there is more walkway and some steps. If you could dig more sand out that would be great

You mostly choose a house due to amenities and location. This house has the location but lacks the amenities that is states on the description. Example, the hot tub does not work, so if you like a lukewarm tub, you are good to go. But if you are looking for a real hot tub, then this place is not for you. Also, there is a lot of sand around the pool, and past guest have used it for their ashtray. So the sand was nasty. The rooms are large and it is nice to have the amount of king sized rooms. The house has a lot of potential for niceness but its average.

Despite the weather the first few days, the week was everything we had hoped for and more. The house was perfect for our gathering - the design/layout could not have been better. The house was clean when we arrived but the high winds blew so much sand into the pool it was so not inviting that i called the realtor and a Pool person arrived the next morning and cleaned it. The hot tub was a big hit with the young folks and the jacuzzi in my room was a hit with me.
The kitchen was well stocked (other than with food, spices, etc due to Covid) and using the list provided we really had everything we needed.
Very close to anything we needed - groceries, souvenirs, restaurants (highly recommend Awful Arthurs) and convenience stores.
I would definitely go back to this house as well as recommend it to others.

Positive comments:Allowing dogs.Bedrooms attractively furnished.Linens outstanding.House clean, many sitting areas.Air conditioning worked well. Keyless entry. Enjoyed tall chairs on upper deck-only view of the ocean. Pool was new.
Negative:No view of ocean from view from any bedroom or any other room. Too many stairs in house,no elevator for food transport. Too many stairs to beach. Walkway had nails that needed pounding in. Three steps down to beach needed clearing of all sand, one broken, dangerous for small children.Yard around pool needs much attention, dead tree needs to be removed, bush needs trimming, sand should be removed from edge of -one should have left heaps of used charcoal near the grill, which we moved and we did maintenance around the yard.Shower at pool not clean nor pool entrance to house. Front entrance to house not clean on outside and a bag of trash was left there. Light bulbs in different areas inside the house need replacing.

Smooth Sailing hit some rough seas in our maiden voyage, but with some attention to detail and TLC it should be in good ship shape for you. To start with the positives – five master suites and no bunk beds is a great plus if you don’t have children. Our family is well beyond the bunk bed years and it was a delight that everyone had a suite and that there were additional bedrooms for extended guests. On the downside there were many items that needed to be fixed that were not. The ice machine in the refrigerator was not working and although there were four ice trays as back-up this was a disappointment. The freezer door would not close properly. Several ceiling fans did not work due to the on/off cords missing. Back-up fans were provided but again this was a disappointment. Kitchen cabinets were broken. The 3rd floor toilet leaked into a 2nd floor bedroom closet, and many lights were burnt out and should’ve been replaced.
Smooth Sailing has a great location and with some attention to detail it can be a great rental.
