Loved the location on the lake and all the different areas to sit especially the wooden raised platform looking out over the lake. The hosts were very kind even if we struggled to understand each other. Loved the terrace outside the room and the home cooking

Reflective materials on windows meant that it shut out the light when not open, and many birds tried to attack their image but did enjoy that it gave us a really close up look at them. The hornbills felt like they were in danger of breaking the windows!

The lady host is very kind and smilling. The location is beautifull just in front of the lake and the garden is pretty. The dinner and the breakfast was very delicious. Bandara messaged me and provided a free pick up from the bus station. Later we asked him for a Sigirian tour, and he provided the most detailed and beautifull tour to us. He knows a lot about the location and took us to special spots for photos. But above of all he is very responsible and makes you feel secure. We missed the right exit and were lost in the forest. But he found us very quickly in the dark. He was the perfect guide and friend we ever met in Sri Lanka.

The property is set on a beautiful lake, with a lovely terrace to sit on. There’s also a nice seating area outside the room. The people were very accommodating and breakfast was lovely! There is a driver, Emsantha, available who is absolutely brilliant. He made sure we did everything we wanted to and was an Awesome guide, cannot recommend him enough.

Accommodation is located about 300m side the main road, the view to the garden was beautiful. A mosquitoes was very useful. A lot of animals around, every morning I had a bird alarm clock knocking on the window because of mirror foil. A big breakfast, but mostly sweet, too many calories. The host was very helpful even he doesn´t speak too much english. He arranged for us a renting motorbike. A good value for the price.

You can hear traffic in the distance. The lake is not for swimming. It is rather a pond. You should count using an air conditioner for an extra charge 9USD, but the hotel is hidden in the garden, so not very necessary. The fan was broken, didn´t rotate.

this place is amazing! located in quite area not far from main road. With lake view you can relax and spend a very nice time. The owners are amazing very polite and worm welcoming. here is also possible to bring ok dinner which are fantastic and very tasty. I will recommend this place to everyone

We really enjoyed staying at Shashin Lake Resort! Warm hospitality from our hosts, delicious big breakfast, nice view of the lake. And a perfect place to rest after a day of exploring! Definitely recommend and would come again!

Great stay with exceptional family. Superb atmosphere with lovely garden and sorroundings of the lake. Quiet and comfortable.

Everything was very good.

It was very calm and right in front of the a small back water and very near to the cave temple, you can literally walk from here. Owner was helpful and sweet, arranged me a tuk - tuk as well, nice homemade breakfast.

The room was unclean damp & mouldy, with a smell. The Air conditioning was charged extra which I had to to use given the situation of the room. Lots of mosquitoes. Very disappointed with the maintenance of the room, probably need to re-painted.

Good stay : the family is nice even though we couldn’t communicate a lot because they don’t speak English and we don’t speak Sinhala. The room was confortable : there’s a mosquito net and a fan. If you want to use the A/C in the room, you have to pay an extra 7$.

The hosts were great, and really genuinely lovely. The food was also brilliant. The location is hard to find initially, but actually very close to the temple caves, so good in that sense. Room was spacious.

Definitely can't be helped, as it comes with the territory of being "at one with nature", but there was lots of bugs in the bathroom! I spent the first 5 minutes just catching bugs and putting them out the window (including a frog!). But, they provided a very good mosquito net for bed time, and luckily the bugs seemed exclusive to the bathroom. No fault of the place.. it's just part and parcel with the location!

The room was extremely clean with a very nice terrace. The family really warm and helpful! They also helped us organize the tuk tuk driver. Highly recommend!

The place is located in front of the lake and the guy owner has a brother who can drive you to tourist areas with cheaper price. They are honest people so worth to stay. Please expect that the couple owner is not really good in english but you can install google translate so they can assist you better. They even cooked us lunch and dinner everyday. The room is very clean and the terrace is one of my favorite. This place is highly recommended.
