Very comfortable, close to hiking, away from city hustle and bustle.

Great quiet location
We loved this place mainly because it feels out in the country but is very convenient to the grocery store, restaurants, etc. You can walk to Saguaro East, the dogs and horses are great and the bed is fabulous! The photos are accurate - the house has a lot of stuff in it so if you can't handle clutter, this is not the place for you. Meg was a wonderful host and we hope to return!

Ranch guesthouse getaway
The definition of laid-back and rustic, this comfortable guesthouse is furnished with an eclectic collection of new-and-old western/southwestern furniture, artwork, books, mementos, and curios that reflect years’ worth of curation by the owner/family who also owns the horses on site and the dogs that monitor the entrance for you in exchange for snack treats (the horses favor carrot treats, but will put up with apples if that’s what you have; the dogs are willing to work for cheese sticks.) The kitchen and pantry are well-equipped and generously stocked, there is seating indoors and out for reading, lounging, enjoying the wine left for us by the host, novel-writing, and cactus-gazing, and the Mt.-Lemmon-high cloud of a king-size bed is mercifully slow to kick you out unless you have early plans for the day. Two large-screen electronic centers are available – we didn’t drive 1800 miles to Tucson to watch TV, so we can’t vouch for them. If the bathroom is on the small side, it is nonetheless entirely suitable to every purpose – and never once did two adults who like long showers come close to using up the hot water. The location was part of the draw for us: far enough away and close enough to the busy core of Tucson. The trails of the eastern part of Saguaro National Park are within 2 minutes’ drive or a few more minutes’ walk for the spry, yet two of our favorite dining experiences were within ten minutes’ drive. Yes, if you wish to visit locations on the western or the foothills sides of town, there will be a bit of travel. That’s the trade-off for the private, quiet, semi-rural location. There's a locked gate, so whoever rides shotgun will be getting in and out to attend to it when you drive somewhere. This was our second stay at this property, the first being some 7 years earlier, with second-marriage plans (it’s a long story.) With the world going crazy, it’s hard to say when we might be back in the area (we’ve VRBO-d in all parts of the country, with more parts to go.) Half of our party did a plein air oil painting of the scene looking north from the property gate, so we’ll be able to remember where we were, even without GPS. Finally, there are many, many photos of the property on this site, so do your research.

Great location for hiking and birding
Comfortable and quiet location with lot's of privacy. Shower could have been hotter and cleaner. Cluttered but comfortable. Plenty of food items left behind by previous occupants.

More than a little charm
This is the place you want to stay if: you enjoy great scenery, love animals, enjoy the desert solitude, and want something different than a cookie cutter apartment. It is a guest house that sits on the same property as a main house but is stand alone. We very much enjoyed our one week there and Meg, the host, was very accessible and helpful to us. She even got us a discount at her golf course when we played. We also fell in love with her dog, Abby, who was always by our side and wanting to play catch. All in all, a fun week.

Such a warm and gracious hostess!!
Meg is such a kind and generous hostess. She's not intrusive in any way but she's so willing to be of assistance! The guest house has lots of interesting memorabilia - just the place if you want to really experience the feeling of the old west. It's a short walk away from Saguaro National Park East and all the lovely trails there-Tucson's desert is like no other! So beautiful! We slept like babies in the peaceful quiet. Thank you for everything Meg!!

Very happy!
This was a great space...literally walking distance to the trailheads into the park. Highly recommend for anyone who just needs a comfortable space to stay while they explore the magnificent Saguaro National Park. We'll definitely be back!

Cluttered & filthy
We were so looking forward to this stay, but were appalled as soon as we walked in the door. The place was just plain filthy. The property is out in the country area of Tucson and is all dirt roads to get there. But, it wasn't just dusty. Every surface (couch, chairs, countertops) were gross. We could only have a cold breakfast, because what you could find of the kitchenette countertops were dirty. I made the mistake of trying to wipe the counter off, and the sponge was black, literally. There is a stove in there, but it appears to be used only for storage. I was going to use a cutting board to cut some fruit, but it was gross. Cobwebs and spiders were bad. She has some nice antique furniture in there, but such big pieces created obstacle courses throughout the place. I am sorry to write such an awful review but for the money it cost us, it was unacceptable.

Unique Ranch Guest House
This is a very unique guest house located on a small ranch within walking distance of several hiking trails in Saguaro National Park. We thoroughly enjoyed our daily morning hikes. The owner was helpful and gave us great area restaurant suggestions. If you are looking for a unique, peaceful spot complete with horses and very friendly household pets, this is it!

Dawn
This place was just what we needed...quiet and close to our family that lives nearby. It was very comfortable and well-stocked with everything we needed. Meg was great and even brought over her entire medicine cabinet when I came down with a cold. Thanks Meg! I would stay at this property again.

She was great
Meg was amazing. This place was great.
To start not 30 minutes after getting there, our stupid city dog stepped in a cactus. I called her to see if she knew any good vets in the area. She said don't spend that money on a vet, I'll be right over. She brought gloves and tweezers to remove the thorns. Saved us a ton on bills. He didn't do that again.
She brought over a ton of firewood for me and my visiting local family to have a bon fire in the fire pit. The teens loved it. She said there's a ton of apples and carrots in the fridge. Feed them to the horses anytime you like. We'ld do it every day.
The place itself has everything. I mean everything. Unique knick knacks everywhere. It's comfortable, cozy, and homey.
I can't thank her enough for for the dog and letting us rent this great place.
P.S. Sunrise over the Rincons each morning is stunning.

Out of the way mini-ranch near East Saguaro NP
This place has character. You have to love animals, because you will be welcomed by a loving dog and attentive cats. The bed is extremely cozy and comfortable, and the couch can sleep a third person comfortably. Everything you need is there--if you want to cook or grill, everything is there with a small counter top oven. Take a morning hike in Saguaro NP and enjoy the view from the guest house. Because of the 20-minute drive from downtown, you get a great view of the park and Mt. Lemmon, as well as the night sky.

Comfortable. As advertised
We were looking for a quiet comfortable place to relax and recharge for a long weekend. The guest home was perfect setting out of the city activity. Well stocked kitchen with all the cooking necessities. Enjoyed the sunrise with a cup of coffee. Fire pit available for the chilled evening if wanted. We were talking about a return longer trip before the end of the first day.
