Location
Rooms were warm n comfortable n clean
Very kind in sending my family to the airport when we needed to depart
The front desk was not well managed
Staff were nice but not professional
Onsen towels often ran out
Breakfast was basic
Coffee was instant mix
No good space to hang in the lodge.

Breakfast was great but delivery was inconsistent and chaotic at times due to the inexperienced and variation in staff professionalism. Wifi was great. The shuttle to the bus station was very appreciated as were the free apples.
Some staff were more professional than others. Cleaning was inconsistent, toilets often did not have toilet paper. They ran out of onsen towels one evening by 5pm. Room only had one plug.

Great staff, great location, perfect place for enjoying snow. Will return here for sure.
Nothing at all

Many Japanese and foreigners who can also speak English work on the staff, which I found convenient for foreigners. There is a ski resort nearby and many fancy restaurants where we could enjoy drinking at night.

nothing - horrible stay couldn’t wait to leave
There are so many layers of disappointment it is hard to know where to start with this review. Was it the ambivalent staff, the constant thundering of other patrons stomps vibrating through the building, or the general unhygienic nature of the mouldy bathing facilities that made this my most unpleasant stay in Japan?
The staff although nice, seem to have no conviction or real ability to make decisions. To be honest it feels like a backpackers run by a group of teenagers, with no one to talk to with any kind of authority.
The rooms (our room) was a traditional Japanese style room, with futons. I have stayed in similar style rooms many times before. During our stay, no room cleaning was provided, no turn down of bed. The futons we thin and low quality, as was the duvet. The Basin had a big hairline crack through it, and the wardrobe doors had water stains.
There is almost no sound insulation in this building. I could here there murmurs of our neighbours conversations through the night, the thuds of footsteps on the hallways, and the banging of shoji screens opening and closing in the morning. It was very hard to relax in our private room with the constant noise.
On to the bathing facilities. The communal facilities were well below acceptable. My first shower was cold, the bath was also cold. Although my next showers had hot water, the bath was now half empty and lukewarm. You could see the grime on the tiles and mould on parts of the bathroom floor. It smelt. I enjoy to onsen. This was not a enjoyable experience.
Most Japanese hotels or inns provide amenities (razors, toothbrush hairbrush). These were not provided. But it was ok, I found the vending machine next to the bath where you could purchase them. I got my 300¥, but then realised the whole vending machine was sold out. I assume they don’t keep it stocked.
Over all it was a very unenjoyable stay, and I would wait to leave. For AU$250 a night, this was completely unacceptable.

The common area was huge. Free snacks and apples. Free transport to bus terminal. Help us carry our luggage to room.
Breakfast has no variety. Frequent power outage. Dryer machine for laundry not working well, faster to dry in our room. Room was quite small for 3 pax to squeeze in.

Location, size of the room, views.
The shower room is freezing cold, and since the advertised "Onsen pool" was empty you'll have to wait several minutes for hot water while waiting naked in a cold room. There's the day the whole hotel reeked of petrol and nobody seemed to care to ventilate. The included breakfast is only 7.30 till 8.30 and is a very sad buffet. This is not a family Ryokan experience but rather a highschool dorm. Very disappointed given the price per night.
