The host is probably one of the few locals who know how to smile and is familiar with the concept of humour, and we got some nice recommendations for the upcoming days. So staying here was definitely a good decision. Also make sure to visit the family's cafe as they serve great fish soup. The accomodation itself is a funny little house in the town which has everything you need to get some sleep.

the hostel itself is great and the owner is amazing

avoid staying in room 8 at all costs. Not only it is right across the hall from kitchen, but it is separated from the toilet by a thin wall…we were “lucky” enough to “enjoy” this room when a couple staying at the hostel started coming to the next door toilet for their puking sessions. From 3am every half an hour one of them came and made noises straight out of a horror movie..not sure if it was food poisoning or covid was getting them, but it was something that completely ruined the experience and the sleep we desperately needed after a long day

Everything was okay! Very kind host! We could leave our luggage at the morning inside, take the ferry to Grimsey easy.

I particularly enjoyed the stay because of the owner. He was very kind and helpful, going to the effort of picking me up from the ferry and telling me the history of the place. He also owns Gisli cafe up the road which is an excellent eclectic little place. I stayed here out of season when everything in Dalvik was closed and it made such a difference to have someone so cheerful and interesting to help me out. One of the things I liked about the property was the view of the mountains when I woke up, the convenience of the location to the ferry port and surrounding restaurants (if they had been open!), and Vinbudin. It is also very close to the start of a beautiful hiking path and some horses. And I really liked the kitchen area which is open and spacious and used to be where the owner used to hold youth club discos. I love that you can still see the marks of the old dj booth on the ceiling!

This is a hostel so I didn't expect top of the range facilities. The pillows weren't great but that's pretty standard for a hostel. Overall I slept well despite this.

Everything, perfect place, walking distance to the Ferry to Grimsey, and i was really lucky to be in the hostel all alone! free parking, perfect WIFI and this hostel atmosphere, even I was alone. Totally recommended. Friendly and super helpful staff that will explain to you anything you need. 5 stars.

We loved everything! The view is amazing, the hostel is awesome. Such a nice owners. Do go to see the whale watch tour, And check out the owners bar and their fish soup. It’s the best ever! Such a great bar!!

We came back after 3 years and the place is simply a dream! The fjord view, super friendly owners and the fish soup convinced us again:) Thank you!
