Someone had apparently been cooking in the common kitchen so the whole corridor and also my room smelled of their food, which wasn’t very pleasant.

The keypad is quite low on the door. But otherwise everything was OK.

Missed info about breakfast not being served on weekends

Good single room!

Convenient youth hostel, comfortable and clean room. We did not meet any staff since we checked in after 5 pm and there was no breakfast on site. There is a nice little cafe around the corner though, where we could get sandwiches and coffee.

It was saturday morning, no breakfast.

The staff were good, including the guy maintaining the building with the rooms in. I'd give them higher marks if the guy who checked me in hadn't disappeared and closed the reception 10 minutes after I saw him. Underground car park was ideal for unpacking and for avoiding snow on the car.

The rooms were a bit cramped, but the main problem was that the "desk" is really just a glass stand for a TV, measurements of about 35cm x 100cm, which is too small for business use.

Nice location and an OK room. Like vanilla - nothing special, but not much to complain about.

During the whole stay the staff was nowhere to be seen, and they didn't send me the enter code beforehand, so it took some extra effort to get into the room.

➕ The hotel is part of Svefi folk school, and this alone turned this short stay into something much more impressive, as the reception is located inside the main building of the school, with plenty of artworks to see and a little glimpse into a life of a very artistic place indeed. The people running the place are very friendly. ➕ The location itself is right at the Haparanda's Torget, about a kilometre away from the bus station and the border to Tornio, so it's possible to go explore everything by walking. Quite easy to get to the place with rolling luggage too (might be a bit more difficult when it's snowy). ➕ The price for the stay was quite decent. The room itself is located in a separate building. The room was nice and clean. There was a small communal area nearby with a small kitchen. Wi-fi worked splendid in the room. Breakfast (in another separate building) was very nice too.

➖ One little thing that comes to mind is that the noise isolation of the room from the corridor wasn't the best.
