The location of the house is great, just a 3 minutes walk from ADO bus station. The neighborhood was quiet and safe, I didn't have any problem walking as a solo traveler. Jean-Pierre is very nice and knowledgeable, I had very interesting conversations with him. The house and the room are very nicely decorated. Also the breakfast was very good, being served on the terrace of the house.

Lovely little family run b&b! Set in one of Merida's charming old houses with a heavenly garden. Great location and with wonderful hosts

Had an amazing experience, the owners (and their two lovely dogs) are super friendly and accommodating, the place itself is charming, and the location is very convenient. Would 100% recommend.
I would have preferred a little more privacy than the symbolic curtain separating the ensuite bathroom from the bedroom could provide, but a. there is another (shared) bathroom and b. everything else was simply marvellous.

Great place to explore Mérida from! It’s a true BnB which means the hosts also live there. Which is a good recipe for a “home” vibe including good talks and company. We enjoyed our stay (and the amazing breakfast!) and would definitely recommend it.

The hosts were quite knowledgeable about the city/history and able to share easily. Nice breakfast each day with local fruits. Good sense of humor and helpful with directions. Dogs were adorable.
One room had a "damp" smell, but otherwise OK

Lovely breakfast with a gorgeous view over the garden oasis. Jean-Pierre & Gina were wonderful hosts; helpful, generous with their time, happy to share knowledge and guidance of how to best enjoy Merida. Wonderful. You feel very much part of the home, as opposed to staying in a hotel.
I struggle to think of anything.

Authentic Mexican house, filled with art. Owners very pleasant and friendly. Breakfasts fresh and plentiful. lovely natural gardens.

I recommend La Pantera Negra to all first timers in Mérida and solo travellers. Why? Because Jean-Pierre and Gina will be happy to advise you on everything and give you recommendations based on what you want to see and what you enjoy. Plus they have 2 nice and cute dogs who will keep you company. :-)
Keep in mind, however, that this accommodation is not a hotel. It is a classic old local house, so some rooms are without windows (that's how houses used to be built). You have to take note that you are staying in this type of house. However, for me it was a benefit because I wanted to experience this style of accommodation!
La Pantera Negra is close to the bus stations (Izamal, Progreso etc.) and colectivos (Homun cenotes etc). The streets nearby look a little scary at night, but they are safe - I've walked them at night alone and as a female solo traveler.
Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the garden.
The room was a bit dark, but that is simply due to the fact that it is a classic original house.
The garden is beautiful, but I didn't really feel like going for a swim in the pool.
The air conditioning was a bit loud, but at night this could be solved by running the ceiling fan instead of the air conditioning.

very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable owners who took time to converse with us and give suggestions; varied breakfast, always with plenty of fresh fruit and served on the outdoor roof terrace; garden courtyard with small pool for guests' use; convenient location just minutes from main bus terminal and not far from main square, super fast internet, owners allow guests use of fridge; powerful AC in bedroom
sometimes breakfast was just fruit and bread (not always a full cooked breakfast); there are two small dogs in the house which might bother some guests (though we found the pups delightful); old plumbing with poor water pressure - not the owners' fault but something to be aware of

Very welcoming and friendly. Jean Pierre and Gina were delightful and very helpful with information regarding how to navigate the city of Merida and it's history. Our room was nice with it's own private bath. It gave us a good base for exploring Centro.

Gina and Jean-Pierre were so warm and inviting. We had nice chats in the sitting area while watching tv and they were always open to answering my questions about living in Merida. Breakfast was prepared with care, and what a lovely setting on the roof terrace. The shower took a few minutes to warm up, but once it did, it was wonderfully hot. I'm more of a cat person but their 2 dogs were so sweet and it was hard to say goodbye to them!
I can't think of anything...Gina and Jean-Pierre's place - and their hospitality - met all of my needs and more.

Very cosy and charming B&B with pleasant owners J-P and Gina (and their 2 child friendly dogs)! We stayed in the room that gave direct access to the lovely garden, and there was a baby cot available for us. The swimming pool is ideal for young kids, it begins non-deep, and provides the necessary cooling after a hot day. J-P and Gina both also speak French and they like to tell you everything about Merida, the region, the food,... very helpfull! You can park just in the street, completely free. 5-10min walk to the heart of Merida. Grocery stores are very nearby.
Nothing in particular

The breakfast was amazing. Gina and Jean Pierre are good and friendly hosts. They gave you good tips what to do in Merida. The location is near the ADO bus station and the main square is a few minutes away. The room was clean and very large.
Nothing.

Jan-Pierre and Gina are amazing hosts. They made our stay at Merida more than perfect. Jan-Pierre is a great chef and prepared for us everyday a different delicious breakfast. Told us a lot about Merida and surroundings, talked a lot for mexican history and traditions.
La Pantera Negra is a must stay at place. It is great located, near the heart of the center. You can park in front of the house. The house itself is very artsy, has very good energy. Definetly recommend and would like to visit again. Thank you for everything

This is a gem of a B&B, particularly if you appreciate personal service and human interaction. I had many interesting chats with the wonderful hosts Jean-Pierre and Gina, and they were very helpful with tips about the city and its surroundings. The two- (or three-) course breakfasts are exceptional, and you won’t need to eat anything else during the day.
I personally did not lack anything at all, but for those who look for complete privacy and anonymity this is probably not the right choice.
4.5
The hosts, the breakfast, 10 minute walk to the centre, the garden, water dispenser with no waste plastic, very close to ADO bus station and the very interesting chats with Jean-Pierre and Gina about all things Mexican. We also liked the dogs. We are not dog lovers as such but they were both very gentle and very amusing.
This is a B&B so you are staying in and with the owners. That makes it very intimate and you do have to respect that it is their home and where they will eat their meals, watch TV etc.
It is also very quirky which is what attracted us to the property. It's an art gallery with lots of interesting art and sculptures.
We were looking forward to the communal breakfasts around the table on the upstairs terrace. Sadly we were the only people staying. To make up for it J-P joined us for coffee and lots of fascinating conversation.

I like the atmosphere and the owners warm hospitality. ALso, I specially like Ms. Chavela and the unforgettable Mostaza, a genuine star.
I wish I could watch in the privacy of the room a regular cable TV ,, expected in most hotels and guest houses.

La Panthera Negra is a really special and unique place. It was a home from home for mr and a solo traveller I felt well looked after and informed by host Jean-Pierre. He thoughtfully recommended a few bars for me which were really spot on. Breakfast was fantastic and served in a gorgeous spot on the room on one communal table. Great location in local part of town with great street vendors but close to the main Plaza.

Firstly, when we arriver we where welcomed by Jean Pierre who have stayed up outside check in hour to help us get inside. Our room was quiet and clean upon arrival and during the whole stay. We got a lot of help with actually everything we asked for (and a bit more;)). The breakfast was over all expectations, with local, fresh, organic food, prepared on the hour and served with love. The room has warm water and a very personal touch, a lot of art and a homey feeling. The whole house is an art gallery with a lot of things to spike your curiosity. Jean Pierre is like a wikipedia, he know lot of stuff that is gladly share with all the customers, and he even made a call to the rental company to help us reserve a scooter. Sometimes it can be too much talking for an introvert. One of our best experience in Mexico.

Absolutely excellent breakfast on the rooftop patio, different each day including fresh fruit, great coffee, and a hot meal that was cooked fresh and different every day. Very quiet location, but easy walk to the many attraction of the historic centre of town. The two dogs of the house were very friendly as were the hosts. Good and fast Wifi signal allowed for a little work when needed.

The owner, the dogs, the breakfast, the atmosphere in the house. We loved it. Wished we could have stayed a little longer.

The owners are very welcoming and sympathetic. Wonderful breakfasts prepared by Gina at beautiful terrace. The couple speaks English and French and gives a clot of suggestions and recommendations. The places is very clean and there is available the drinking water all the time. It is not far from the city center. The place itself is very nice although the garden is a bit smaller than I thought.
The room is not very sound proof and not possible to close it properly. There is no much light in the room which on one hand is good as it is less hot but the fact the door open directly on the staircase make it not easy to refresh during nights. Other window is opening on the garden and shows the shower and toilet so visible that there is not much of intimacy when open therefore we kept it closed. The water in the small pool is very cold and not particularly clean.
One last thing which was a little bit annoying that we came to relax and sometimes to stay in peace not too much talking, which was sometimes difficult with very talkative Jean-Pierre ;-)
Despite the small issues above I would still recommend to stay in this place.

The location was excellent and the street parking was perfect. It was basically right out the front door. Merida is a very safe city so it was not a problem leaving it for our 3 night stay. Breakfast is a tricky one. It's so individual and it is served perfectly every morning.
There was nothing I did not like to be honest. It met and exceeded my expectations. I really loved our room - the black and white room. It was huge and was decorated nicely. The bathroom attached has two sinks and again, plenty of space. Eating on the terrace was delightful. The back garden is lush. It's an oasis in the middle of the city.

Gina and Jean-Pierre where awesome guests. They took time and gave us a lot of good tips where to go and what to see. Also the breakfast was very good. Thanks again for the lovely stay.

La Pantera Negra is a beautiful b&b with the most wonderful hosts. Gina and Jean-Pierre with their cute pets were like family. I am so happy I stayed here, I hope I will have the opportunity to enjoy their fantastic hospitality again.
Thank you for everything!
I liked everything!

The owners are friendly and helpful, plus they have a tiny dog Mustasa, I believe her name is, that is as sweet as can be. I would get up a bit early and sit in the courtyard filled with trees and plants until breakfast time. Mustasa kept me company every morning. The house itself is beautifully restored and provides a venue for changing works of art. My room was a comfortable size and the air conditioner worked well—which was important during the sizzling days that I spent in Merida.
The bathroom sink is awkward. It is more a huge trough than a sink, and can’t be filled with water. The faucets are set far back from the front of the sink, which makes it difficult to use.

Ah we loved our short stay in Merida with Gina, Jean Pierre and Mustaza! We had a great room, the location is so easy to get around (and parking in front of the house) and we got so many local hints - amazing! Very loving, stylish and interesting furnishing. We became huge fans of this place and would go back any time! Thank you <3
Nothing to complain at all!
