Great breakfast choices
I could not complain about my stay. My German shepherd was very welcomed

Nice old property surrender by beautiful and peaceful garden
They didn’t have a key for the room, every time that we needed to go to our room, one of the employees came with us to open the door. For the same reason, we didn’t have the safety box working.
The menu was the same lunch and dinner, and every day of the week.
Some of the lightbulbs were not working and the table was damaged. Non of this things should have been in a 5 stars hotel.
The communication was pretty hard since they don’t speak other language than french, thanks to a young man that speaks Spanish, we could understand what they were saying.

nothing!
it was in the middle of nowhere, very bland outdated rooms, not even tea or coffee facilities in the room, very disappointed!

Liked nothing
Useless. Dirty, broken air conditioning, spa shut, staying in very basic room adjoining main hotel, simply not a 5 star. Maybe a 3 star if the spa was open?!

Position / helpful attitude of staff / majestic gardens / tranquility
/ room always neat
Room a little small

Lovely building with a small bar.
We ate in the restaurant and the food was really
good.
Outdoor pool area felt quite run down and needed
some TLC.

Nice room, lovely gardens and pool. The house itself is like something from a fairy tale really.
Didn't quite feel like a five star hotel. The restaurant in the hotel is closed on Sundays which is strange as most other restaurants in Pau are also closed on Sundays and the hotel is quite far from everything. Also the lobby and bar weren't always manned - so to get a drink could be a bit tricky.

well restored old house with loads of character and authenticity.
very nice staff. nice breakfast & dinner
grounds could be better maintained & better outdoor furniture.

Beautiful old mansion with spectacular views to the Pyrenees. The rooms facing the mountains in the old house are amazing. The public areas of this hotel are gorgeous, oozing history and charm, particular the wood panelled bar. Lovely big gardens facing the Pyrenees. Nice pool!
The rooms in the new wing are generic and dated - 90's chic. Unfortunately these are not differentiated in the booking system so somewhat a lottery. Wifi is patchy. I had to change rooms once because the AC didn't work, and again because the wifi didn't work. Fortunately this was obliged.

The Views
Pretty much everything else. Staff spoke no English at all. The room had no air-conditioning and was unbearable. I had to head downstairs at 1:30am to steal the fan behind the front desk to have any chance of sleeping. The "spa" in the cellar is gross with black mould holding up the ceiling. Would not be heading back here ..... ever.

The view was amazing! All the Pyrenees majestic! The breakfast was good and the size of the room was very good.
Maybe they need more help at the kitchen.
Breakfast

hotel in beautiful setting with view of the mountains. Our room was lovely and clean. As our French wasn't good enough we had a bit of a problem with breakfast. Otherwise everyone was very friendly and helpful.
can't think of anything!

Food in restaurant was good
No food available when we arrived in the evening
Difficult to get drink in the bar
Considering a 5 star hotel , poor supply of staff.
No food available on Sunday evening

The building & views from the back of it are beautiful. Location is good, 20 minutes walk into the centre of Pau. Room was comfortable & clean with great views.
Most staff, except two, we’re surly & bordering on rude. Food was second rate for the price & the bar is a waste of time as no-one tends it. Would not return or recommend.

The hotel is an historic property and the public rooms have a lovely old world atmosphere. The restaurant looked beautiful and the menu good although we didn’t eat there. We had a charming room on the top floor with good facilities and nice view of the garden. The evening reception staff were very helpful and welcoming. Nice spa area although it is in need of an update, however we enjoyed using the facilities.
The decor was a bit tired and in need of a repaint. The hot tub didn’t work properly and the steam room was excellent but the tiling was worn. There was a broken window on the floor in the pool area which gave it a feeling of neglect.

The location is in the English quarter characterized by old villas and mansions, yet only 5 minutes drive from the city center. The manor is in a beautiful park with a nice large pool. We stayed in the annexe. Rooms were large, modern and clean. Bed was very comfortable and the very quiet location made for a great night sleep. We did not stay for breakfast and headed for Beanz downtown instead.
Everything was basically very nice but we noticed several things that were not tended to as much as we would have expected such as the garden, around the pool.
