Lovely comfortable hotel in a great location. Staff were attentive, courteous and welcoming.

Very central, but quiet! Absolutely ideal. Very friendly staff, competent and helpful. Our bed was great, linen of high quality. The breakfast was the best we had in our two weeks in Italy.

had trouble in first night as was in a room on a lower floor and my air con wasn’t working but couldn’t have window open as a little noisy. once I called about it the air con was turned on from reception. also they moved me to a higher floor without any fuss. air con ought to be operational without having to make a call as you wouldn’t know that was necessary the public areas could do to be made more atmospheric.

Excellent location 2 minutes walk from the Piazza Maggiore. Helpful, friendly staff. Quirky individually designed bedrooms.

Great location, right next to the main square in Bologna city center, and excellent value for money. The staff was very helpful as well and the room was in decent shape.

The hotel and some facilities are a bit old and would benefit from refurbishing. The "compact" double room is actually a single room with a large single bed but just one bedside table and one plug next to the bed.

Great location, in the old town a few steps from Piazza Maggiore. Homely hotel, each room decorated differently, comfortable bed and bathroom. Excellent welcome coffee. Delicious sweet and salty breakfast

Shower had cold water and the hotel staff was extremely unprofessional about it. Took a while for them to solve the problem, so we were unable to shower the first day. We were offered a discount for our troubles, but they never delivered. When checking out the receptionist claimed the water was cold “only for 50 minutes”. We were unable to have a shower all morning, waited for a first person to come resolve the issue. They didn’t fix it and said a plumber was needed. At that point we left the hotel since we didn’t want to waste a day of our vacation waiting for the hotel plumber. When it was finally fixed we were told we were entitled to free breakfast and a discount for our troubles. We did get a free breakfast (which was very underwhelming), but they refused us the discount on checkout. I understand problems can happen, yet their handling of the matter was very extremely unprofessional as they: a) Insisted that the water was only cold for 50 minutes as if we were exaggerating the issue. In a 4 star hotel I don’t expect the water to be ever cold. I mean even a hostel has hot water in the winter! b) Offered a discount on the room but they never delivered It should be noted that we stayed at the annex apartments of the Phi hotel, yet it wasn’t clear from the booking that we would be staying off-site.

i have stayed there before and the rooms, staff and food are great. However, we had the Apartment 1 which was rather bleak and dark. I was expecting rooms like in the hotel itself so was a bit disappointed.

small, cramped and terribly stuffy room. management said they do not all the use is air conditioning or heat at present despite the need. opening the window meant a lot of noise and frequently cigarette smoke wafting up. Breakfast was fairly bland and bagels rock hard.

Location is unbeatable. The unique design of the common areas are great. The breakfast is superb and the lady who serves breakfast with a cheerful welcoming smile should be employee of the year.

We paid for a two bedroom and 2 bath units on two floors. The check in girl tried to pawn to us the cheapest room with no windows, one bath and a sofa bed as the second bedroom. After a half hour of argument, and with proof of pictures and room plans and description, she finally caved in and gave us the room we paid for. Left such a bad impression for us this being the very first hotel we checked into in Italy. Fortunately that was the first and only scam we encountered in Italy. Every experience following was fine.
