Rewind In Style In a Renaissance Villa with Pool among the Vineyards in Lucca Property overview
VILLA GATTAIOLA is an antique villa built in the 17th Century by a Noble Family (The family Mansi) in the outskirts of Lucca town centre, among olives trees and vineyards. It lies on the top of a hill in the South-West area of the Lucca countryside only 4 km from its ancient city's Walls. It is completely surrounded by greenery and far from any noises. The garden is surrounding the house and offers the guests a truly unforgettable greenery all around. Quietness and peacefulness is what you will find there. But also antique trees of any kind, birds and the charm of the past. There are a lot of lovely hiking and walking in the nearby.
The house consists of two floors:
GROUND FLOOR: living room , separated kitchen, a spacious dining room with french Windows and old medieval arches overlooking the garden and the Hills on the back of the house, 2 double bedrooms (both with king size bed) and 2 bathrooms. The kitchen is fully-equipped with everything you may need: microwave, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, moka for Italian coffee, 5 stoves, dishwasher, a wide selection of cooking utensils, electric oven. Also iron, iron board and Wifi are not missing.
FIRST FLOOR: five bedrooms (three doubles and two twins) and 4 bathrooms, A cot or a little bed for child can be always provided on request.
EXTERNAL AREA: The garden is surrounding the house. It offers its guests a table with chairs for having breakfast or dinner al fresco in the shadow of the antique trees of the little wood outside the kitchen. A lovely corner has been arranged outside the dining room and the arched windows with white chairs and a little table to relax talking or reading or admiring the panorama.
The garden also offers a very well-kept new swimming pool measuring 14x7 metres with a dept of 1.5 metres, ideal for children. Chairs, table, gazebo and sunloungers have been provided in the pool area where there is also a cold/hot shower and a toilet. Beach towels provided.
The house is an unformal non luxury villa ideal for family retreats with kids.
This a corner of paradise, just 5 minutes driving from everything!!

Pool was cleaned to remove leaves - small thing but made the incredible pool have even more of an impact! It’s also heated so really lovely if it’s not super hot outside.
Generally a very nice space and would book again!

The villa is semi detached which we were surprised at , however the other part of the villa did not appear occupied , it looked somewhat delapidated. The part we stayed in was beautifully furnished . Majority of the bedrooms were of a good size . The bathrooms were somewhat disappointing and the showers were haphazard as could not all be used at the same time - in fact worked best when used one at a time . There were many items lacking in the kitchen which was small in relation to how many the villa slept - a small bbq also which was disappointing . The gardens although vast were not maintained particularly well and needed some TLC ( mowing / weeding etc ) the pool was lovely and there were enough sunbeds . We enjoyed our stay but felt that a little more attention to small details would have better reflected the price - eg - only 2 teatowels, no duvet covers just a sheet , but these are minor and easily rectified . All in all a lovely stay .

My family of 10 (2 grandparents, 4 adults, 4 children) all had a wonderful time at this property! Monica (the property manager) was excellent to work with - very responsive and helpful. The space is incredible, offering a really nice layout and a nice master on the first floor that was nice for my parents (73, 75) and plenty of space for the kids. Each room was incredibly comfortable and all but one bedroom upstairs had an AC splitter. The pool was even more beautiful then the pictures!
We did lose the hot water on the 2nd floor one evening and someone was at the house by 10am fixing it. They were so kind and I was so impressed by how quickly they resolved it.
Monica also recommended a few chef's that new the space well and did an amazing job. I especially enjoyed chef Alice (i cannot stress how much we enjoyed her cooking!!!) so if you have a large group, i would definitely recommend it!
One note that maybe should be mentioned at check in. There are two places in the Lucca area that have the exact same address according to GPS so a few times taxis drove us all over the place!! When ordering a cab, you definitley need to say GATTAIOLA along with the address. Also, the best app to get a taxi is appTaxi. Everytime we tried to call for a taxi - there was no answer.
Again, I cannot express how much we loved this property and hope to come back again!

This home is extraordinary with period feature but modern convenience. The gardens and the pool area are beautiful. We were 11 people and each one found areas that were special.

Ours day in Luca was overall very nice. We loved the city within the walls. A few things that would’ve made this trip better at the Villa would have been for us to know that we needed to bring items with us for our stay. The mosquitoes were awful outside and it would’ve been nice to know that we needed UGG spray before we got there. Also, there were not enough supplies for us during our trip. Only one garbage bag, no paper towels, no toilet paper or items necessary for the kitchen.

Lucca stay
Villa Gattaiola is a rustic Villa in a beautiful setting in the hills above Lucca. It is authentic! We enjoyed the "no neighbors" aspect. Access to town was easy. The pool was a lovely place to relax in the afternoon after a long hot day of sightseeing.
The downstairs bedrooms have no AC so the guests there were a little uncomfortable at night and one was very allergic to mosquitoe bites so they couldn't open the windows with no screens. Temperatures were in the high 90's each day so a stay there in cooler weather would be nice. We had some difficulty with spotty WiFi. The upstairs had loss of hot water for a day but the management promptly fixed it. Overall, it was a comfortable stay. We did day trips everyday and ate out most meals. It's a good value and has a lot of character if you're not looking for a plush resort. Plenty of spacious rooms for our group of 9.

Amazing Villa
Amazing villa, very private. Pool area is amazing. Sat out every night watching the fireflies. Great service from Maria who helped us sort transfers when ours let us down. Even came to the villa at 2.30 a.m. to make sure we got away ok. Kitchen well equipped, although we had BBQ s most nights. Watch out for the mosquitos, they did bite a bit. Would recommend taking citronella incense sticks for sitting out at night. Beware taxis/ pizza delivery find it hard to get there.

Long weekend in Tuscany
Location, gardens, spacious bedroom and good recommendation for a cook.
Although we were happy with the villa, the web site photos indicated a much brighter interior then actual.
