Reviewer Comments: I frequent staying back in Old Timberline because I love the privacy, some of the houses let you bring your dog(s), and the private access to the hiking areas and ponds. We had a great stay but this place was probably one of my least favorite places we have stayed. I loved the theme and the back yard was really private which was nice. The house is right off the road with other houses nearby so the front wasn't quite as private.It was a little outdated inside and didn't have quite as nice amenities as we usually stay and a little more run down if I'm being honest. We probably won't go back to this place but it did make a nice getaway for a week's trip.

We made good use of the fishing pond across the street and yard games and bikes in the garage were a happy surprise. Kitchen was well stocked and house well maintained. We were nervous about having no A/C in July but the mountain air was cool and breezy and surrounding trees gave shade and privacy. The private trail access to Dolly Sods as well as the access to 2 larger ponds and community trails were wonderful and a nice bonus.

We loved staying at the Ranger Station. It had a lake across the street which was fun for the kids to explore around it and the backyard being fenced in yet wooded let the kids use their imagination of hiking. It was a great spot to come back after a day of hiking and grill out. Kitchen well stocked and beds comfy. Management easy to communicate with

Excellent property. We have kids in Virginia and Kentucky and this is roughly the mid point. Perfect. Lots of hiking and trails to enjoy and Canaan Valley was beautiful. Home is well equipped and has everything you need. 4 beds and 2 baths and very quiet. There are neighbors but they’re far enough away that it isn’t an issue. Would definitely stay again.

Having a place all on one level (with just a handful of steps up from the outside) was great for our group, and the fact that the bedrooms are all in one part of the house that can be closed off with a door from the main room (so that some can stay up to see movies and others not) was also very handy. There is a working VCR not listed in the amenities, btw. The pond and gazebo just across the road are pleasant, and nearby homes are mainly out of sight even though there are signs of life on the roads. We loved the National parks theme (carried out throughout - there were even National Parks pop-up books and a lot of wildlife/conservation books in a desk area in the living room). I would definitely rent this place again.A few things that might matter to some guests but not others:-There is wifi, but it's not secure (we got a warning, didn't mind much) AND not as strong/steady as some guests would need. A friend who had an important zoom meeting decided to go home early rather than risk the wifi. The wifi was good enough for streaming at some times but fussy..-We were there during a freak May snowstorm with lots of after melt followed by rain. This may have affected our water supply, which was orange (due to tannic acid that's heavy in that part of Timberline, we were told), even though the ultraviolet filter in the house had recently been changed/updated. We were OK, but if this would concern you, you might want to check w/mgmt before you book to find out if things have settled down.-In general the place is WONDERFULLY well equipped (kitchen, grill equipment, extra bedding and pillows), but I wished I had brought a good paring knife

The property was as described whiff a very large fenced yard that my dogs loved. It was comfortable and as described. The only thing missing were board games, which are usually plentiful in rentals. There were none and we would have packed some if we'd known

It is always a great experience. We have actually rented this same cabin before during the winter and it was awesome. We will be back

Centrally located for what we wanted to do. Happy to find accommodations that accepted our dog who goes where we go. The trees were gorgeous!! The garage doors were tall enough that we could drive the Jeep in with the cartop carrier on. This made unloading and loading so much easier and we didn't have to confine the dog while we did so. Great relaxing experience!!

The back yard was very private. We did walk the fence line and found a few spots where the fence was knocked down, so we did not feel comfortable letting our dog off leash, which is the main reason we decided to rent Ranger Station over other properties. Even with this glitch, we enjoyed staying at the home, the Timberline community and the beauty of the Davis area.

We really enjoyed our stay. We was close enough to visit Davis, Thomas and Canaan Valley. A little doe deer came into the backyard and we fed her potato chips. She came to the porch to get chips and tortilla chips. Bring firewood there isn't any at the house. We did Dolly Sods, the Canaan Valley ski lift, Lindy Point and Blackwater Falls. Overall very enjoyable!!!

We had a lovely weekend away at this house! Everything was as expected from the listing. The check in process was easy and the house was easy to find. The house was clean and was as described. The beds were all comfortable and the living room was cozy. We found the kitchen to be well stocked for preparing meals as well. We did bring our dogs and the fenced in yard was a real bonus! We also really enjoyed the fireplace. It is about a ten min drive just to get out of the housing plan and another 15 to get into Davis, but this really wasn’t a problem. It was a very quiet and peaceful weekend, exactly what we were hoping for! We would definitely come back again.

There was a machine in one bedroom to reduce the odor without success. We closed the doors to 3 bedrooms,purchased several cans of lysol to reduce the odor with little success. In addition, there was animal hair on furniture and throws.There were a number of things about the house we liked.

The windows do not lock in this house. There was also a bad smell in parts of the house that worsened during our stay and interfered with the use of one of the bedrooms. The pics online do not show that a road passes directly in front of the house. Overall though it was nice- quiet and the back yard is private.

Cozy but spacious house with everything you need. It was clean and had plenty of linens and bath towels to spare for our group of 8. Washer and dryer were very handy too! Please note, for those renting in the summer months, this house does not have AC. The listing does not claim it does but it’s something that took us by surprise. The weather cooperated and there were several fans on-site for our use in the bedrooms. Overall a great visit, thank you!!
