Large house with excellent kitchen. Beds comfortable. Water pressure good with lots of hot water. Lots of space to spread out. Lots of stairs, even up to house, so not suitable for those with mobility concerns. Close to shops. We had a great stay.

We enjoyed our stay in this house. It is very clean and well stocked. The baths were nice with plenty of hot water and large. Beds were comfortable. The location is very close to castle and city center. The issue is that it sits very high and you need to climb uneven steps to get to it with access only from front. Parking is on a busy street around back so you have to walk up and down steps to gain access or walk around the block. There is no unloading in front, so it is difficult at best to get luggage into house from the back on another street. Also the washer dryer was a combo. It did not work and our clothes actually got stuck because the door was broken and stuck shut. Our tour guide actually managed to get it open but the unit never worked. The manager was very nice and kind but not really any help with the machine issue. All and all we enjoyed our stay despite these issues. But the listing should be very very clear how difficult front access is. Anyone that has any difficulty walking or carrying things it will not work.

Our family of 5 absolutely loved this home in the historic district of Inverness. The home was very comfortable with lovely decor, and the owner provided all the right touches in the well equipped kitchen. David provided coffee and tea, bread, butter and jam as well as milk, which was so appreciated so we didn’t have to search for a grocery store. The bedrooms had beautiful linens and the modern bathrooms were great. There is a notebook full of useful information about the house, which was much appreciated. We arrived by train so needed a cab to drive us to the home. Renters should be aware that the front of the house is on a very busy street, where cars cannot stop, so you must approach from the street above. David provided good directions in his preliminary information, but I didn’t thoroughly read it until we arrived, so I suggest if you stay here, read carefully! We found it easier to roll our suitcases around the street up to the front rather than navigate down the steps from the street above with unwieldy luggage. The location was perfect, an easy walk into town and in the other direction along the river. The river walk is lovely. My only ding is that we were never able to get the washing machine door open and I really wanted to do some laundry, as we we in the middle of a long trip. David was responsive, but we were unfortunately never able to get the door open. Also, the view of the castle was a bonus, as we enjoyed the convenience of the pub right across the streat.

This was our 2nd stay at Dunvegan-Inverness and it did not disappoint. A great home for families with children and a 5 minute walk to the city centre. We needed some assistance during our stay and the local property people were very responsive. One suggestion - the gardens need to be tended to. They were quite overgrown and made it somewhat difficult to use the front and side walkways.

This large home is located a short walk to city center and shopping and so many restaurants. The Host David was wonderful to work with. We had a slight issue checking in and reached out to him and he was quick to answer the phone and resolve our issue. The home is clean and warm and inviting. The kitchen is well stocked with every pot, pan or dish you should need. The beds are comfortable and the sheets were clean and fresh. The towels were large and plenty of them. The house has two sitting rooms each with its own couch and televisions. The only draw back is on Saturday night the music from the pub across the road played until 11pm.
Parking was easy and we had no issues with parking on the street behind the home. The flowers were in full bloom in the garden which was so nice. From the top floor dressing room you can see Inverness castle, which was a treat. The home truly gives you space, convenience and a wonderful hostess. This home is now part of our memories that we will cherish forever.

I’ve stayed at many properties and having a welcome basket with treats and recommendations is common. This property out shines any I’ve stayed at with the thoughtfulness towards welcoming their guests. The “treats” gave me one less thing to stress over by including stuff for a yummy, kid- friendly breakfast, the recommendations included placed to visit, but also all the instructions on running appliances within the house. Coming from out of country this was beyond helpful! Attention to details is key to making a listing stand out from the rest. Thank you for hospitality!

Great location to downtown and the property itself, is wonderful. Roomy, well stocked with necessities and we felt like we were in a “castle” of our own for a few days. When we come back to Inverness, we will get this property if available.

We just returned from a 10-day trip to Scotland where we stayed in several fabulous VRBO properties, but David's Dunvegan is the best. Like other stellar properties, his lovely home is clean, comfortable and well appointed, but Dunvegan has a magical quality about it that I can't quite pinpoint but was noticeable nonetheless. Maybe it's the lovely garden gate and cottage garden that surrounds the home. Maybe it's the cozy snug with a contemplative view of the same garden. Maybe it's the sweeping views from the upstairs windows. Maybe it's the pub directly across the street that invites but does not intrude. It is definitely the house itself. Go and see for yourself. This is a lovely property.

My husband and twin 12 year old daughters completely enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It is spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. We were happy to receive a welcome pack of food items and milk. The kitchen is well-equipped with great appliances and utensils. The bedrooms and bathrooms were large and had adequate storage. The cottage is in easy walking distance to all the shops and restaurants. You are also a short walk to the Ness Islands, which we enjoyed exploring. I recommend the property whole-heartedly. David was a gracious and informative host.

We enjoyed our stay at Dunvegan house. Property is in an excellent location just a few minutes walk to the heart of Inverness. The only issue for us was parking. Although there was a pass for 8 spots behind the house they were seldom available. We had a large van which also made it difficult to fit into single spots. Other than that the house was spacious and well appointed. I would recommend this home to others for the location alone.

An absolutely wonderful host, well equipped house, comfortable beds. This rental was in the heart of everything. David arranged a tour for us and helped us navigate to the location. We all loved this place! Pubs nearby, a short drive to Nairn for golf, and even a meal in the kitchen of the rental home.

We must commend, David (host) for keeping us in communication. House is well kept, beautiful gardens and in perfect location. David kindly provided us with basics like milk and bread which was a pleasant surprise.

This house is within walking distance of everything we wanted/needed in Inverness… shopping, food, scenic river walks, church. Parking for our rental car was very close and simple. The house was clean and comfortable. We loved eating together in the dining room. The view of Inverness Castle was unbeatable (it’s literally across the street). We would definitely stay here again

We spent 4 days and 3 nights in Inverness. Perfect location as we walked to town and were close to shopping, eating and pubs. House was well appointed and had the perfect separation of space. Would satay here again on next trip to Inverness.

Amazing house in Inverness walking distance to city centre and restaurants. Only downfall if any was loud music from pub across the road but only on the Saturday night

My wife and I along with our three adult children had a wonderful stay at Dunvegan. The house was spacious and convenient to anywhere in town. More importantly it was clean and well appointed. Also David was incredibly helpful in arranging a tour guide for excursions to Skye and the Highlands. A wonderful few days for our family to spend together!

Our party (5 adults) was very comfortable staying at Dunvegan-Inverness. The location is excellent. The host, David, sent very clear instructions in advance and a binder at the house provided all the information one might need about appliances etc. There was a welcome basket of treats which was greatly appreciated after a long day of travel. The beds and bedding were comfortable; the bathrooms very clean; the kitchen well-stocked. We hope to go back someday! Highly recommend.

Oh, David, your home was absolutely awesome! Instructions were clear and check in was so easy. The house had everything that we needed and some extra very nice touches. The home was decorated so pleasing and elegant and it was just a super short walk to the very center of town. I highly recommend. This is the best VRBO that we have ever stayed in!!

We loved our stay in the house! We loved being so close to town to walk every where. House had every thing we needed. We enjoyed going to the Cairngorm mountains, Loch Ness and walking over to the Ness river.

This place was fantastic.
Fantastic location, fantastic lay out, fantastic hosts and house keepers.
Things to note:
1. Don't under any circumstances close the inner door...especially with the keys inside.
2. When ordering pizza, ensure you tell them big house on hill with black gate or they will drive around for days.
3. Make reservations at the Castle Pub or you won't get a seat!
4. Explore explore explore
5. Things close early in Inverness, maybe due to the season, but get out early
6. Great central location for going North out of town
7. The house is more than equipped for short-term or long-term stays. They thought of EVERYTHING .... including kids dishes, every size pot and pan, dishes, etc.
Would be super awesome to have a table book of the extensive remodel before and after and the history of the home.
Other than that, hopefully we can make another trip back!!!!
Thanks Again!!!

Due to an unforseen situation we were not able to stay at this property. So I cannot comment on this property. The property manager David called me the day before we left for Inverness and told me there was damage in the property that needed to be fixed, and we could not stay there. This was very unexpected and worry some. However David arranged for us to stay at another property instead, and this worked out for us just fine. Thanks David

We had an amazing stay here! Communication from the property was great and the house was so very cool and perfect for our whole family.
This house is in a perfect location in the city. Walking distance from most food and shops, and easy-quick trips or even day-trips to Loch Ness and Isle of Skye. Parking is a bit tricky but if you pay close attention to the property’s instructions you’ll be golden.
The property owner was so very detailed! We had all the answers to questions we didn’t even know we had. You can really tell the level of care!
We will 100% be returning on our next trip.

We enjoyed this house and the location so much. Beautifully equipped, spacious and comfortable. Parking easy. Views of Inverness from the 2nd story are amazing. Owner referred us to several taxi services for distillery tours, which worked out perfectly. We had a great time, and we'll be back!

This home was warm, cozy and very inviting. The views were amazing from almost every window. It felt like you were at home. On top of all that, each and every room was tidy and very clean. We wanted to stay much longer. We would recommend to our closest friends and family.

Property has seen better days. Needs a full cleaning, inside and out. The fence door latch to enter the property has been broken for a long time and is not easy to open/close. The exterior is overgrown, you have to watch the rose thorns as you approach the front door. The carpeting needs to be steam cleaned, furniture cleaned appropriately, the kitchen island wobbles, surfaces need attention, and insects (ie., spiders) sprayed for. The beds could be more comfortable, not sure if it was an issue of age/use or just inexpensive mattresses.

We stayed at this beautiful home for 1 week in September '22. There were 6 adults sharing the space and rooms were spacious and comfortable. The best part was the location. It was perfect for exploring Inverness and accessing train, bus and tours in town. I would highly recommend this location for a large group as ours. it is a great value for the space, location and your comfort.

Perfect find in central Inverness
Dunvegan House is absolutely in the top three of VRBO stays ever in over 15 years of international travel. Clean, well-equipped, updated & modernized with tasteful period touches, super comfortable beds & mattresses, and within a 5-minute walk to High Street and the River Ness. With 3 roomy bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a separate study with sofa bed, there was plenty of room for our group of five. Closets and chest of drawers in each bedroom. Beautiful view of Inverness Castle (under renovation for the next year) and a small slice of the River Ness from the two front bedrooms. The small side garden could use some pruning, but it’s hard to beat the aroma of summer roses as you walk up to the front door. 10-15 steps leading up to the house from the street entrance could be a challenge for some people. Owner is extremely helpful and communicative and sent helpful, clear instructions and directions to the property about one week in advance. We absolutely loved Dunvegan House and would totally stay here again! Thanks for a wonderful stay!
