Such a homely feel away from home. Very well appointed. The kids absolutely loved it. Close enough to all the amenities of Kingscote with a real coastal feel. Amazing position, great for exploring with the kids, fishing etc. listening to the penguins come in to nest every night was a huge bonus.

We loved the location and would not hesitate to recommend The Salty Dog to anyone staying on Kangaroo Island. We fell in love with Emu Bay and Kangaroo Island as a whole. With the ocean at your door step and visible from most windows but especially the large living room windows. Emu Bay is breathtakingly beautiful. The "SALTY DOG" has the BEST location on the bay. 180degree View of the Ocean. The house is well appointed with everything you could need including a Webber BBQ. We felt really at home. Emu Bay is a great central location. If you want to stay in away from the tourist strip with the most incredible views and wild life at your door, you need to stay at the Salty Dog.

Everything was fantastic. The decor, the comfy beds, the best place to watch and listen to the sea. We were very impressed on the kitchen facilities. We will be back. It was the most peaceful place to relax. Also there was a lot thought into the Salty Dog. Like the wash basket for dirty clothes. Thankyou to the owner and the cleaner. Everything was very clean.

Location was GORGEOUS. The sunrise was magical, the birds on the rocks were amazing. The views were stunning

fabulous location, huge windows overlooking the water. kitchen is well stocked.
bed uncomfortable and sheets and towels were old and dingy. sofa dirty, stained, saggy and uncomfortable. wished they had chairs for the front yard so could sit outside and enjoy the view.

The view and location were excellent. There was ample plates pots etc.The house had o homey seaside feel so it felt right
The lounge was not set up well to watch tv and the outdoor bench did not feel sturdy. So We used our camp chairs instead

Pros - Beautiful location - lovely property. View was amazing, dolphins, koalas and an echidna all seen from the property.
Cons - like other reviews the windows to look out to that great view were quite dirty and the Weber Q needed a good scrub before use.
Otherwise great would stay again

The house overlooks a beautiful view and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you need. Dolphins frequently visit Emu Beach.
The inside of the kitchen cupboards was dirty, they had a couple of dead insects in them and crumbs throughout them. The place does not have an iron or ironing board.

toilet in with bathroom, BBQ jets half blocked, block out blinds for lounge area, gets very hot with insulation in roof, an iron would be handy, needs more functional seating to watch TV

The house view is amazing. Rooms are big and there were toys for the kids. The kitchen was well equiped
Outside table and chairs were quite old and rusty so difficult to be used. Bbq was dirty but not a big problem as we did not use it

lovely seaside ambience with loads of bedding and dining Area. loads of privacy and quiet seafront location near Jerry end of the beach. loads of cutlery and crockery- tasteful decor! great wifi!
be aware only one bathroom so limitation there. back verandah should be modified to have another toilet at least.
TV and lounge positioning need improvement. air conditioner weak for SA summer heat. thankfully most days were mild for our stay.
invest in better smart TV capable of allowing users to log into their streaming service eg Netflix, Prime, Stan etc

The place had an amazing view and was beautiful and clean. Nice and close to the beach it was perfect for us.

spotted multiple koalas in nearby trees.
Weber Q was filthy and required a deep clean before use.

killed 6 spiders inside throughout our stay, house needs to be sprayed for insects.

Enjoy a great stay at this quant beach house. The property was as pictured and ideally located overlooking Emu Bay. The house had everything - including all necessary cooking items - comfortable beds and really clean which all made for a very comfortable stay. The host provided loads of useful information of sites/attractions/conveniencies etc available on Kangaroo Island which was appreciated.

Great location, right across from the beach and jetty. Was amazing for star gazing.
It was disgustingly dirty. Bugs on floor, lots of dust, dirty couches, dirty plates, dirty knives, benches, microwave, dirty fans. Random hair in drawers. Was recommended to get food from closest town due to it not being near shops, but spent more time cleaning the utensils then actually enjoying cooking time. This place has so much potential if it was better maintained. Quite disappointed.

Great location, comfy beds, good kitchen facilities, nicely styled.
Cleanliness of the overall property - seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Dead & alive bugs on the floor on arrival that we had to sweep up and seeing 2 x mice later that evening under the furniture.
