We had the best time at The Retreat and were thrilled with everything. The property vastly exceeded our expectations and was very luxurious. The Hot Tub was awesome and enjoyed by everyone - it had been fully cleaned prior to our arrival. We were surprised to find that the house content was all of really good quality with all the kitchen utensils you would find at home, we'd taken kitchen roll and tea towels with us, but were delighted to find everything had been thought of and catered for.
We've quite a bit of communication with the owners prior and after our stay as we wanted to check a few things and Mrs Burdge has always been fast to respond and unbelievably helpful - honestly, the nicest and most helpful host we've ever had, plus the bottle of wine and cookies on arrival was very nice.
A few pointers - the location is perfect, you can get around Cornwall very easily from the site and central Padstow is only 15mins away. We ate out at the PickWick Inn (breathtaking views and delicious food - recommend the steak pie and mussels), we dined at the Italian in Padstow Pucellis, which was handy when you haven't booked as they only take walkins - there was 6 of us and we only queued for 20mins.
The onsite facilities are very good - the kids playparks were very well used by our gaggle of kids, the pool is great. but you MUST book to get a slot, and they are only 50min slots.
I have my own paddleboard but they wouldn't let me us it onsite, but other than that - we loved it!

We have stayed at this beautiful accomodation twice now and really enjoyed ourselves. It is comfortable clean and so spacious we love it here and will return again as soon as possible. Highly recommended place to stay, relax and travel around cornwall. Claire and Family.

Wonderful lodge, exactly as the description. A great place to spend a some of our half term break!
If you have a car, that would be helpful to explore the area/ shopping/ restaurants etc but this lodge is ideally placed!
Hot tub and instructions were clear, and it was very easy to check in/out.
Would recommend for families as there is lots of space within the house, and lovely grass area outside for the children and dog!

We had a brilliant stay at this property. We had a mixed group of ages from 4-90 and there was enough room and space for all to do their own thing.
Kitchen well equipped we ate in every night.
Beds were lovely and so comfortable.
We made use of the hot tub and swimming pool.
The quiet nature of the park meant were we’re able to allow the youngest to scoot round on the roads which was excellent. We had a perfect stay.

We had a really relaxing and very comfortable stay for four nights while our children were at Boardmasters festival. Close enough if they needed us but far enough away to have our own holiday. Great location and really peaceful. Thank you.

The property was fantastic and very well equipped. It felt both homely but luxurious at the same time. We were somewhat unlucky with the weather but there were plenty of activities provided to keep the family entertained. In fact we completed a 1000 piece jigsaw of Mousehole whilst there, which got everyone involved. :-D

Me and my family stayed at this beautiful property for 4 nights last week. It was very spacious decorated really well. The beds were comfortable and overall such a lovely place to stay. The location is good to travel around to both north and south Cornwall. Communication was good very helpful and accomodating. We would love to return again next year. We had a fantastic break over the Easter weekend. House is beautiful, great size and all furnishing etc of a very high end standard. Every little detail had been thought of in the kitchen so well equipped. Would definitely stay again.

Swimming pool on-site very basic but flow rider was the kids highlight.

My family and I stayed here over bank holiday weekend in august we had a great time. The property was plenty big enough for our family of 7 adults, it was in a great location and one of our favourite things to do was the inflatable course on the lake it’s a must! So much fun.

Great communication prior to arriving but upon arrival no check to see if all ok. Basic furnishings and utensils v what I am used to, main double beds were 2 single mattresses together which makes an uneven sleep. Surprised at being asked to unmake beds, why is there a cleaning fee if this is the case…When I searched online for a property I add 2 filters, dog friendly and bbq. Looked at the pictures and in the picture there it is a bbq. But nowhere to be seen on arrival, this meant a constant food smell within the house after cooking, the extractor really doesn’t deal with it. Almost every other property had one. Wifi stated as >50MPS well the Vodafone wireless provided you may not as well bother at 2MPS, fortunately there is a resort Wifi.
The resort, was probably great when built but the constant addition of properties has become overcrowded for the activities it now has and these activities are expensive! Nothing nearby and suggest staying in Newquay, which I had 2 weeks prior and was a better experience.

Top class accommodation very clean, spacious, and comfortable. Situated in a holiday facility where privacy and security contribute to a relaxing holiday. Amenities and facilities on site kept two teenagers occupied and entertained. Regular days out provided good variation with so much to see and do without exhaustive travel.

Beautiful lodge on a lovely site
Me and my extended family booked the lodge for a week away. The lodge was well maintained and had everything we needed for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The hot tub was an added bonus along with a coffee machine and games. The lawn area and picnic beach was great for playing with the children and the site itself was very modern and had fun activities on offer.
There were lots of beaches nearby and the host sent us lots of helpful info ahead of our stay so we could plan our days.
I would definitely booked again and would recommend to others.

Relaxing break
I spent 4 nights at The Retreat with my son and daughter who are in their twenties. We enjoyed the beautiful furnishings and decor throughout. Powerful showers and super comfy beds ensured peaceful nights. Days can be spent taking part in the many water activities or simply chilling out in the hot tub overlooking the gorgeous grounds. Would highly recommend staying here.

Fantastic find in excellent location
We feel really fortunate to have found this property with such a high demand for staycations this year. The property itself was perfect for two families. Each of us had our own floor and bathroom and the shared areas were very spacious for getting together. The standard was very high - all appliances were new and high spec, towels were new and soft, the bed was amazing! Standard of cleanliness was very high such as the hot tub which was crystal clear.
The resort has brilliant facilities. We had to book swimming but were ok with this as it meant numbers were limited and the pool wasn’t busy. The Aqua park was such a fun activity.
The location is perfect for all of the great beaches and sights. Holywell beach was a great find and very close.
Only slight disappointment was the on-site restaurant which was booked solidly for the week we stayed. We had drinks here watching the flow rider but it was a real shame they didn’t have the staff to resource they restaurant properly as it seemed to be only a quarter full when fully booked (to their defence I think this may have been Covid related).
Overall would highly recommend this property. Communication was first class and the host was very responsive and helpful with any enquiries.

Amazing, faultless!
Wow, wow!! You have to stay here. I don't usually write reviews but I just have to. Before arrival, communication with the host was perfect. She answered lots of questions for me and recommended we booked restaurants and activities well in advance, I am so glad we did as everything is booked up once you are there. The site has so many fun water activities which you must do.
The house is spotless, modern and there is not a single thing that they haven't thought of. You name it it is there. But also fantastic quality, they have not skimped on anything. The location of the lodge in my opinion is the best on the site. Wonderful views, space and easy to get everywhere.
We will 100% be returning, Worth every penny and I would like to thank the host for such an aiming experience. 10/10

Relaxing Break
We took a short break at The Retreat and it was just what we needed. Everything was as described and as per the photographs. The Retreat is very spacious, very well equipped and all to a high specification. The resort is great too, peaceful yet with good facilities too and only a short drive from other towns and attractions. We would definitely recommend and we would return.

Lovely lodge
We booked our stay at 'the retreat' for a week for a family holiday for 8 people the youngest being our 16yr old grandson. We booked at really short notice but found communication with the owners really timely and helpful. The lodge itself was perfectly situated on the site with open space at the front and lovely views from the first floor. The layout of the lodge was excellent with a bathroom and 2 bedrooms on each floor and large living/reception spaces on each floor too. The lodge interior was decorated and furnished with quality and comfort and there was good space for outdoor eating and a hot tub. The site itself has some excellent amenities, my family did the inflatable assault course on the lake which was really well managed as well as being hilarious to watch. The site is also well situated to travel to many other attractions around Cornwall. I would not hesitate to recommend 'the retreat' as a wonderful place to stay and would not hesitate to return there with my family.
