Full review:
This is a great property in a convenient and safe location in South Haven, about a mile from the beach.
Positives:
• Super-responsive hosts
• Clean, comfortable 3 BR, 1.5 BA
• Beds/bedding were of great quality; good sleep
• Kitchen had newer appliances and was well-stocked for a short-term stay
• Furnace and fire-stove heated the house quickly
• Washer and Dryer with supplied laundry detergent
• Great TV/Internet package
• Yard and shed have just about everything you need for summer fun; bikes, beach equipment, gas grill, etc.
• Driveway is long enough for parking multiple vehicles
Improvements that could be made (not negatives, just things we feel could be improved over time)
• Only one TV (LR); yes, people don’t come to SH for the TV, but in a house with up to seven people in it, one TV will be inadequate (easy fix)
• No dressers; a week living out of a suitcase is less than ideal (easy fix)
• Sleeps 7 but dining for only 3-5; without more chairs, a large group dinner would be very challenging (easy fix)
• Driveway approach is incredibly steep at the street and driveway is not paved; might be a challenge for those with difficulty in walking on uneven ground
If we find that we have to stay in a rental next year, there is no question that we would consider Vacay Verde again. For the price of not much more than a hotel room for the week, we had all this.

We had a great time in South Haven. This property is only a mile from the downtown area and the beach. The house was super cute and had all the amenities needed for beach trip. We had easy communication with the owners and would stay here again!

Vacay Verde is a charming cottage with updates and amenities that were perfect for the whole family! The rental was spotless and the host was quick to respond to every question. Great place to stay in South Haven and hope to return again next summer!

Great location. all was mostly good at cottage. We wanted to use the bikes, but could not find a wrench to lower seats. Also, the beach "chairs" were too heavy to carry on foot so we drove to beach one day, but didn't use these pieces the rest of our stay. Love South Haven!

Clean and well maintained. Access to a washing machine and dryer was nice to have. Delicious food nearby. Quick drive to the beach. Would be walkable if we didn’t have kids and a ton of stuff ;). Access to a wagon was perfect for lugging our stuff from the car to the shoreline. Would recommend!

This property is not ADA compliant-several trip points,bathtub too high and stairs too steep- not good for older people either (l’m 74). Other than that we enjoyed the cottage. It was within walking distance of several things to do -about a mile. It was clean and even though I slept on the couch ( stairs to upstairs bedrooms too risky) I was comfortable. We enjoyed the s’mores fixings also. Thank you for an enjoyable first trip to Michigan.

As a large family it is hard to find rentals that are suitable for sleeping arrangements and space to play. This cottage is exactly as described as has a charm to it like no other. We have stayed twice and enjoy the hospitality of the owners. Having a full kitchen makes cooking easy. Two bathrooms is great for larger families too. I’m sure we will back again!

First time to South Haven MI. This home was great for our family of four. Super clean, smelled great, good location and hosts were super nice and helpful. Loved visiting South Beach even though it was cold and windy. Walked Kal-Haven trail and ate at Clementines, both were great. Anxious to come back in the summer, loved this small beach town! We enjoyed our weekend in South Haven very much. The house we stayed in is old, but clean & comfortable for our group of three. We didn’t spend much time there during the day, as we were at the beach or exploring the town. We made use of the beach supplies & bikes in the shed. There isn’t a bath upstairs, so I wouldn’t recommend this property for more than four. Also, the stairs to the second floor are very steep & probably not good for very young kids, but for us there was no problem. The location was great.

This cottage is clean, clean, clean! It is well stocked with plenty of provisions, towels, moisturizers and kitchenware. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The short walk to town for great restaurants and shops made for a relaxing late summer getaway. We highly recommend Vacay Verde and will definitely stay here again. Chris and Wes

This home is set up great for a family. Lots of comfortable living space and bedrooms. House had plenty of towels and having access to a wagon and beach chairs in the home was great. Also less than 1 mile from downtown and the beach!

The house was clean except for the carpet upstairs had an odor of pets/ mildew. Smelled like dog pee to me can't say for sure. All around the baseboards the carpet was brown and needed cleaning or replacing. We had to keep the house at 66 which is very cold for me or the carpet smell would come thru. Didn't not like the cameras on the back of the house common space where you would relax and enjoy the yard. I have rented many homes this is the first one where I felt under surveillance 24/7. Who knows what's in the house? I texted the owner to see if there were cameras inside. They stated no but with all going on outside I was not sure I believed them. Made me uncomfortable, I didn't go on vacation to feel like I was someone's late-night show. People nowadays think evading you with their cameras is okay. I do not. I understand the front door camera for checking in but to have the outside all under surveillance. I did sit in the backyard Friday afternoon the neighbor was out doing yard work and listening to music. I was also enjoying his music. He glanced over a few times and then started burning something so disgusting that within15 mins I could not stand to sit in the yard anymore. I believe that was his point it was obvious. We just slept there and had gatherings with family at local establishments. The house was close to the main strip downtown. We left a day early my comfort level wasn't there between cameras and neighbor time to go.

Everything was great. The only suggestion is to change the trash pick-up date in the binder from Sun. to Mon. evening. The note on the refrigerator is good, but conflicts with what is in the book. Thanks again for such a great place to stay.

If you plan to use their bikes, bring bike locks. We didn’t use grill as we were always out everyday. We didn’t do much cooking as we ate out. The air conditioners were helpful and easy to adjust. It got a little cold at one point. They have parking up to 2 cars. Will comfortably sleep 8 adults. Very close to Family Dollar store which was very convenient. Gina was very quick
to respond at all times! Overall our stay was pleasant.

A few days at the Lake
We loved Vacay Verde. The owners were great to work with, the house was clean and ready ahead of time. We spent every evening in the backyard enjoying cookouts and s’mores. No problems at all.

Annual Family Getaway
Quaint, cozy, and well appointed cottage in South Haven was the perfect spot for our 2 grown children, spouses and grandkids summer vacation. Comfy beds, plenty of seating and charming backyard made for the perfect family trip. We enjoyed using the wagon provided for walking in the neighborhood, into the town center for shopping/dining and playing at the beach. Window AC units kept up fairly well except for the one very hot/humid day but we stayed comfortable using all of the fans that were provided by the owners. The entire family enjoyed the grill, bubbles and fire pit each evening. The neighborhood is safe and quiet and close to everything. The Hosts were responsive, pleasant to work with and very helpful with questions prior to our arrival. We would definitely stay again!

Quick Family Getaway
Stayed 3 nights in Summer 2022; 2 adults and 3 kids (ages 9+). Rental is as described/pictured; kids enjoyed having upstairs to themselves. Walked into town for restaurants and shops; we enjoyed Six Chicks for Breakfast & Taste (had reservation) and Kitchen 527 for dinner. Very quiet neighborhood. Used the provided firewood/firepit one night for hot dogs and smores. Owners were very responsive to questions prior to arrival.

Cute but not comfy
Property owners very responsive. House outfitted nicely, but the layout is not the best. Two bedrooms upstairs but stairs are not to code so not recommended for kids or elderly. Common area with futon is useless as it blocks the stairs if being used and all the toilets are located downstairs. Window units with only one to cool entire lower floor. Not nearly enough on 90 plus degree weather. Lots of bugs in the house. Do not use baby gate at the top of the stairs. It is not safe…it is only fit to be used downstairs - owners really should provide warning to guests. Overall location is amazing. About one mile to town with lots of shops and restaurants. However would not stay here again.

Grill started on first try, despite how rough it looked, and they had xtra propane! 2/3 queen beds slept great! 1st bed upstairs was not comfy :( (Plywood on upstairs “bed at top of steps” scraped lower leg on the plywood. This first bed upstairs also had some stains on the mattress pad.) Cozy Vacay Verde
This was a great place to stay for a spring getaway. We loved the clean and well equipped cottage within walking distance to restaurants, the beach and downtown shops. We also enjoyed the close proximity to great hiking trails. We highly recommend this cozy cottage and will stay again.

Excellent house in great location
This house was the perfect spot for a weekend getaway. The house was clean, well stocked and cozy (we especially enjoyed the fireplace). The location is quiet and close enough to downtown to walk. The hosts were very easy to communicate with and were very responsive to any questions that came up. We would definitely stay here again.

Fall Break
Great location, easy walk to town and a short drive to wineries and other attractions. Nice quiet neighborhood. There were only 4 of us so there was plenty of room to spread out. The gas stove was warm and cozy after the rain and wind outside. The furniture and beds were comfortable and the kitchen had whatever we needed for our meals. Even though we didn't use them, the yard and porches were appealing.
