We absolutely loved our stay at Bambooshay. Scott and Tammy were wonderful to work with and we plan on staying again whenever we come back to St. John. The villa was nice, clean, and had everything we would need. Our favorite part was the outside area. We spent most of our time while at the villa either hanging on the deck enjoying the beautiful views, swimming, or in the hot tub. My favorite thing about the villa was being able to swim under the stars! Truly felt like a paradise dream!

Peaceful & Private Great quiet location if you want to stay away from the crowds and tourists. Hiking, beaches, and small local family restaurants. Rent your jeep ( a must need) on St Thomas and ferry it over with your food for the week.

Bambooshay villa was the perfect getaway for what we enjoy. Perfectly located. Perched high on a hill with all the privacy one could ask for yet easy access to trails, grocery and restaurants. Located on the quiet end of the island. Views from the deck overlooking the perfectly sized infinity pool are world class. Tammy, the property manager, was the perfect host. Top notch communication and always willing to help with anything needed. Highly recommended.

We had a great stay at Bambooshay! The villa was well decorated and the view was phenomenal! When we were not out and about, we spent hours and hours in the pool, the hot tub and on the deck. Tammy was wonderful to deal with and was so helpful throughout our stay. Great experience - highly recommend!!

The property has two well appointed bedrooms and bathrooms with working AC units. The pool/hot tub are small but perfect for a dip. Perfect location <10 min drive to all the major restaurants in Coral Bay (not super walkable due to the steep incline of the drive up). They also have three snorkel sets, a cooler, and four beach chairs to borrow along with many beach towels. Loved staying on this side of the island and would definitely stay here again!

The house, views, breezes, privacy, and quiet neighborhood exceeded our expectations, but the hot tub was not working properly. The hot tub was a primary reason for booking this villa, so we were quite disappointed that it could not be activated, never got over 95-degrees, and the jets were not working. The pool was unheated and far too cold to be enjoyable. We never did figure out how to control the living/dining room lights (with a remote) without impacting the ceiling light in the bedroom off the kitchen.
The property manager, Tammy, was exceptional. She tried to get the hot tub working and treated the water, but it never was clear. She met us at the property and showed us how everything worked, checked in on us via text, took us grocery shopping, and we retained her for a tour of the island.
We chose not to rent a vehicle because we were not comfortable driving on the left. It is not feasible to walk up or down Seagrape Hill to catch a bus (unless you are a marathoner), but we found two taxi drivers willing to accommodate us. Keep in mind that fares are per person and ran $15-20 each way, and luggage fees were additional.
We would gladly stay at Bambooshay Villa again, IF the hot tub was in working order. We really enjoyed the Coral Bay side of St. John and agreed that having a vehicle is clearly advantageous!

The house is a perfect 2 bedroom 2 bath for 2 couples or family with 2 small children. You’ll need to rent a car as Coral Bay is fairly remote, but the privacy and access to Hanson Bay (14 min), Salt Pond (14 min), Maho (12 min), & Francis Bay (12 min) are both excellent. House is well stocked. We made smoothies daily and hung in the jacuzzi nightly.
There is a grocery albeit small and a smattering of eateries. And if interested in Skinny Legs, I’m not sure if you could get closer (Although not walkable for most due to the incline to and from).

Great location and very well stocked home. There are plenty of local bars and restaurants in Coral Bay and you’re a half hour to Cruz Bay. The house manager was communicative and responsive. This is our first time back since Irma and our first time staying in Coral Bay. If you like a little slower side of the island this is the place for you!

We enjoyed our week away from the normal hustle of our everyday life and relaxed in this beautiful villa. It was perfect and had every possible need to make the vacation exceptional. We loved relaxing at the pool and the hot tube was an added bonus. Beautiful views added to our lazy days.

We will absolutely stay here again on our next visit to St. John! Can't say enough good things about this place. The View! The Pool! The extras were icing on the cake. We took full advantage of the provided snorkel gear, beach chairs, beach towels, and ice chest. Since you're reading reviews on this place, go ahead and book it! You will not be disappointed. The Coral Bay area has plenty of markets and restaurants so don't be afraid to stay on this "slower" side of the island. While on Island, be sure to catch Mel Knapp at the Windmill Bar (among other places). He is a phenomenal guitar player!

We loved everything about this beautiful property. It was very clean and well stocked, and the property manager was very attentive when needed. We enjoyed cooking dinners and eating on the deck with the gorgeous view. The beds were comfortable and the location in Coral Bay was convenient to the beaches. It’s a bit tricky navigating up the narrow and winding road, but that is St John! We would absolutely stay here again.

Want to start by saying the house is amazing, beautiful design, A/C in the rooms, very clean and well stocked, plenty of towels + beach towels. We’re very grateful for the beach chairs and snorkeling gear. Enjoyed the pool and jacuzzi.

It was so beautiful, bright and open when we first walked in. The white beams all throughout the ceilings gave it an amazing touch. The view is impeccable and looks right over coral bay. The bay looks even closer and more beautiful than in the photos. The pool and hot tub are the perfect size as well as the deck. The manager of the villa was so nice, welcoming and helpful in emergencies. 100% recommend!

What a hidden gem, with amazing views
Wow, Bambooshay did not disappoint. The remodeled house was super up to date and very nicely done. The best part about this property is the outdoor living, specifically the views, the pool and hot tub. Drop dead gorgeous view of Coral Bay. Close proximity to Maho Bay beach and also Salt Pond Beach. The owner offered all bath towels and beach towels and 4 nice low sitting beach chairs. Hi speed WiFi worked great, and Dish was a plus for evening movie nights with the kiddos. Super responsive owner to all our questions. Highly recommend and we will be back.

Getaway blissfully
This was an amazing place to stay with our 9 & 12 yo — with the pool for them and a delightful soft hot tub for us. The location was nice for us to relax & get away from the main part of town and in order to explore the whole island. The views are spectacular and we already want to be back at Bambooshay & St. John! The hosts we very accommodating with everything.

Bamboosahy Villa
We loved staying at the Bambooshay Villa. We were spoiled to be able to stay in such a lovely new home. We haven't been in Saint John in 27 years. We have traveled to many different islands in the Caribbean over the years and the villa was one of our favorite places to stay in the Caribbean.I was so happy to be back in Saint John. It is such a beautiful island with all the gorgeous turquoise water, white sand beaches, and lush green mountains. We traveled to a different beach each morning and afternoon. We cooked in quite a bit as there is not a huge variety of restaurants on Coral Bay. The kitchen was very well appointed and great for preparing meals. The house has two nice bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The views from the deck and house of Coral Bay were very scenic. The house has a small but nice pool and hot tub. You almost didn't need to leave the house but the gorgeous beaches beckoned. We chose not to drive to Cruz Bay for dinner but did enjoy some of the restaurants in Coral Bay especially Sally's Mongoose Pizza.

Amazing
Our experience was amazing overall. The location on top of the mountain overlooking the bay was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed all the amenities this newly built home with hot tub and jacuzzi has to offer. The craftsmanship was excellent. We were very inspired to build and to move to the islands! We loved the quietness and being away from Cruz Bay. )which is a 30 min drive away but well worth it) You definitely need a Jeep and to be prepared to purchase groceries and use the beautiful kitchen because there is not a plethora of great restaurants in town. This home is still new so as we all contribute to the spice cabinet. Maho beach is 13 minute drive a way and there is Love Grocery store a few minutes down the mountain that is expensive but prices are better than the markets closer to Cruz Bay.

The pictures on here don’t do it justice! The location, the view, the pool…everything was absolutely incredible! My husband and I went for our 16 year wedding anniversary, but it would also be the perfect for place to bring kids. And my husband and I planning on doing just that for our next trip!

Blissful relaxation!
Our main goal for our trip to St John was total relaxation and Bambooshay really helped us to achieve that. The cottage is very secluded and private which we loved. It also provided everything we needed for a week in paradise away from the comforts of home. The beach gear was well used and we took advantage of the awesome deck every morning and evening. No air conditioning but the fans do a pretty good job at keeping you cool. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again soon!

We come to St John, specifically Coral Bay, annually. Bambooshay was perfect for our needs! Tom , the property manager, is wonderful - kind, fun, and responsive! The villa was very clean and 100% met our needs. I would highly recommend. Private and well stocked with the essentials while still being close to our favorite South and North Shore beaches and all the conveniences of Coral Bay.

We had an incredible time. They view is amazing. At night you can hear the music from a bar on the bay. It was magical. The main grocery store is next to where the ferries are. Word of advice is to stock up before heading here. It was absolutely beautiful.

Best View!
We spent a week at Bambooshay for our 10th Anniversary and are so glad we did. The view from the spacious deck couldn't be beat and star gazing at night from the hot tub was amazing. We loved how private it felt though we were just up the hill from shops and restaurants. The inside was spacious, clean and nicely decorated though most of our time was spent outside. Having use of the beach towels, cooler, chairs and snorkel gear was fantastic. Others have mentioned mosquitos. We just kept the screen doors closed at all times and had no issues with them, even on the deck. When we arrived Tom was so friendly and helpful. It was nice knowing we could call him if we had any problems but we didn't need to. Coral Bay is great! So peaceful but still lots of restaurants and beaches to explore. Miss Lucy's and Concordia cafe were our favorites on that side of the island. We have so many memories from our visit and hope to stay at Bambooshay when we return. Do rent a jeep- the hills on the island make it a must!

Paradise
What a great time my husband and I had at bambooshayvilla. It was the best idea to stay on the quiet side of the island. The house had everything you would need to making breakfast each morning to cocktails at night. The view alone is worth the stay not to mention the hot tub is an added bonus for star gazing at night. Best tip would be take a visit to Francis bay beach quiet beautiful and we saw turtles, many fish and a huge 6 foot sting ray on top of other rays. Just make sure at night you have the fans going or the net as masquitos can be a pain. We've been lots of tropical places including all of Hawaii but yet have decided this will be our one stop tropical stop for the future with family and friends just beautiful, quiet, and relaxing a little slice of national park heaven!!

A vacation in paradise!
My husband and I enjoyed celebrating our 10 year anniversary with a week of quiet, relaxation in St. John. We fell in love with Coral Bay- and Bambooshay was perfect for us. Amazing location with excellent views and great amenities for a great vacation. We went into Cruz Bay a few times and always returned to Coral Bay thankful that this was were we were staying. Much more relaxed, peaceful, secluded. The villa had a kitchen that had all the cooking appliances and dishes that we needed. We went by the grocery store before arriving and stocked the refrigerator...and were surprised by the staple items that were fresh and already in the refrigerator. We snorkeled each day on a new beach. The reviews and info Scott and Lori have given are great tour guides. We were intrigued by the island wild life and enjoyed watching donkey's, deer, goats, chickens, and more cross the road at anytime! The beauty of the island was enough to make us want to return one day...maybe with our children next time! Thank you for an amazing week that we will never forget!

Beautiful
My fiancé and I just returned from our 9 night stay at Bambooshay. The cottage is beautiful. The private location overlooking Coral Bay is magnificent. We loved morning coffee out on the deck watching the sun light up the eastern shore of Coral Bay. I would give it 5 stars except for one thing: air conditioning in the bedroom. We love to snorkel in the morning then come back for an afternoon nap. The afternoon sun hits directly on the bedroom making it too hot. Night sleeping is not an issue. Just would have liked an afternoon nap. I also don't want to be over critical. We loved Bambooshay and would recommend it to fellow travelers.

Wonderful week at Bambooshay!
My husband and I spent a week here for our second anniversary. We'd visited Coral Bay for our honeymoon and were excited to return. Bambooshay was the perfect place to have as our home base throughout the week. Everything was exactly as it was described in the online post and the view was awesome! We spent many nights on the hammock relaxing after a long day of hiking, snorkeling or exploring the island.
A few small things to note that didn't detract at all from our overall experience: the knives in the knife block are pretty dull, would have been great if they were sharper. Also, there was almost no pantry staples beyond salt & pepper. Some other spices & dried herbs, plus some olive oil, would have been great!

Amazing Week!
This was our first trip to St. John and it was amazing! Bambooshay was a perfect spot and exceeded our needs. We started every morning with coffee on the deck and finished every evening on the deck! Explored many beaches and hiking trails really can't pick a favorite. Enjoyed the local flavors at Skinny Legs, Aqua Bistro, Shipwreck, Concordia. It was hard to leave but we will back.

Stress Melted Away
Spectacular location and perfect accommodations for a couple who wants to get away, relax and enjoy sun, surf and trails. We visited a couple of picture-postcard beaches every day, relaxed on the hammock when we returned to the villa or enjoyed the hot tub on the deck. Bambooshay is unpretentious but nicely appointed. Everything we needed for a great vacation was provided. There was a well-stocked kitchen and a nice gas grill. The outdoor shower was invigorating and lounging on the deck was spectacular both night and day. If you want 5-star restaurants and fancy shops, go somewhere else. If you want a perfect place to leave your worries behind and have ultimate freedom with no crowds, this is your place.

Very relaxing
This was a great place to stay.If you book here,some do's. Do get a 4wd vehicle.The ride up the hill was an experience to say the least!!Make sure you bring bug spray with you and after bite.Use the mosquito net over the bed.We enjoyed cocktailing in the hot tub at night!You will find everything you will need in the cottage.Bring as much of your own food as possible,a bag of chips at Dolphin is $7!! we used the kitchen mainly for breakfast only and found it well equipped.Tom is a nice guy willing to go out of his way to help.Skinny Legs was good for burgers and pain killers! Aqua Bistro for steak.we found only one gas station on the island so watch your gas gauge!

Couldn't have had a better experience!
We had such a wonderful time in St John, and the lovely and relaxing Bambooshay Villa was a huge part of what made our trip great. The pictures don't lie- the views from the porch really are that breath taking! It was just the two of us for this trip and the villa was just the right size, although we are already planning a return trip and hope to bring our young son, who would have no trouble sleeping on the couch in the living room. (Even though the porch is high up, it's very safe and the front yard is flat and fenced- safe for kids.) The location was just right- convenient to town for groceries and evening cocktails, but secluded enough to feel like a private oasis. Tom and Melody, the property managers, were extremely helpful and made us feel very safe and comfortable. We had a small problem with the water cistern one evening, and Tom was there literally minutes after we called him to do the repairs. Our favorite beaches were Salt Pond and Haulover, both near Bambooshay- great snorkeling, and the hike to Ram Head from Salt Pond was a highlight of the trip. Another favorite part was falling asleep at night with the sound of tree frogs outside the bedroom window. Would definitely recommend this place to just about anyone.
