Amazing place. Great rooms. Fantastic food.

We spent 6 nights in hotel Royal before we decided to move out despite having prepaid a junior suite which was non-refundable. We initially had an executive room, which was OK. A bit cramped for 3. Despite being on the 5th floor the is considerable noise from Rue Lausanne. After 2 nights we were moved to a junior suite in another unrenovated part of the hotel. Here the safe did not work, neither did the coffee machine and a sink was clogged. The coffee machine was replaced, the other issues were unresolved. We had an unpleasant night as the bed was old and lumpy. After complaining at the front desk we were moved to the newer part. Housekeeping was sketchy. We found medicine in a niche near the head of the bed, parts of a childrens drawing a a bottle cap on the floor. We had 3 nights in this room and had to ask for housekeeping to empty bins, replenish coffee/tea and make beds. Every day. Front desk was marginally helpful, borderline arrogant with the exception of the 2 doormen mr. Joao and mr. Fikret who were a pleasure. Though well situated, there are better, more comfortable and less expensive choices in Geneva than Hotel Royal.

I stayed here for work and enjoyed it so much that I made a reservation here when my family joined me. The staff was very helpful including with assistance buying online soccer tickets in Zurich. This is an older property but we were very comfortable and enjoyed Le Bistro restaurant. Most importantly the location truly couldn’t be beat! The free 15 tram made getting around so easy. The hotel is an easy walk to Lake Geneva and the old city.

Friendly helpful staff, really nice room, comfy beds, clean - absolutely perfect. Very many thanks - would definitely use again.

Disappointing stay. Room was not ready an hour after the check in time and the hotel did not offer anything as simple as a tea or coffee while we waited. The air conditioning did not work in the room which made it very uncomfortable given it was a hot weekend

I stayed here for business and found it very convenient. The property is older but the rooms are large and overall it’s a good price to quality ratio. Food shopping nearby meant not every meal had to be eaten in a restaurant. The staff were really outstanding and helpful.

We loved it here! The sauna is amazing- dry, cold shower, steam, cold shower, relax on the lounger! The fitness center has a good supply of free weights (dumbells) so you can get a good workout. Room service was quick and efficient, and we loved the room!

Just a classic city hotel ,at a very convenient neighbourhood of Geneva, near to public transportations-metro,tram,..-. The room was very comfortable. The air- conditioning system was very “wick” ,couldn’t cooling the room and it was a bit “warm” …

Room is very small. There is a fridge and coffee kettle . The AC was terrible. It was a sweaty night- the windows do not open. 😔

Close to the train station and public transportation. I was hesitant about the neighborhood but it is safe. I took detour on my last night in Geneva and ended up on the red light district. It is located about 5 blocks away from the hotel. Needless to say, i quickly went to the main road where the hotel is located.

Very nice stay with family. Sauna facilities and ice machine a plus for Ice bath during a heat wave. Especially nice reception.

I’ve stayed in the Royal on many occasions. It is one of my usual places to stay in Geneva. There are ongoing renovation works taking place in the hotel. It is therefore very noisy. This was not mentioned on the hotel.com page. Furthermore the AC in the room did not work, which made it an uncomfortable sleep during the summer heat.

Loved it!

Very good hotel in the city center, 7 minutes walk to the lake, 5 minutes walk to the train station. The room was spacious, the staff was friendly.

It was so hot it was hard to sleep. The air conditioning was. very weak.

Decent hotel, fairly centrally located. A little small with extra bed out for 3rd person. Also a stale smell from the bathroom

Nice hotel and good service initially. Unfortunately good service depended on who you dealt with. Hugo and Janos were great but the other front desk guys were so snobby. We asked for a change of towels and they said I had to come get them myself in the lobby. The room phone only works for one of the departments so we kept calling the restaurant to get transferred to room service or lobby or housekeeping and they were annoyed we had to do that. I told them that none of the other numbers work so I had no choice. Their breakfast is great. Parking sucks!

The location was very central. The hotel lobby looks nice. In the US , it would rate as a 3-star hotel. The AC in the rooms did not work , as we would hope it should. The tubs didn't drain effectively. One room that we were given at check in was atrociously filthy and smelt bad but the staff changed the room when we informed them about the condition. Great breakfast buffet and very good and attentive staff.

Excellent property, strategically located, central to trains. Very accommodating staff and the rooms are very comfortable, as well as the bed.

excellent - loved this place

We were pleasantly surprised! This hotel is right by the metro making it easy access. We walked to the Eiffel Tower. The rooms were beautiful and modern. The air conditioning was very nice to have! complimentary water and coffee all day. It was perfect for us!

I had a 5 night stay for a conference. The hotel is huge but old, not remodeled, and the lights were scarce and dim making my room prohibitively dark in the evenings. It was also very cold without a working thermostat. The service was terrible - my room was not cleaned all week, and when I called down for an iron I was told sarcastically that "there's one on the 6th floor, that's one above your floor". Turns out there are exactly 2 in the whole building as far as I could see and a line of conference attendees waiting to use them. The location is good in theory but facing the street, it was loud and the rooms are poorly soundproofed. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, even though I was "upgraded" to a "suite" free of charge.
