Location

This property is very close to everything. The staff is very helpful and kind. The only problem is that service can be extremely slow at the restaurant.

I like the new Fort rooms which are a good size. I had an issue with the fridge which was very loud and kept me awake at night. It was changed when I raised this. A couple of areas for improvement are:- the convoluted route to get from the Fort rooms to the restaurant. This requires using 3 flights of stairs and two lifts. Two areas are uncovered so when it is raining you get wet along the route. I think more thought could have been given to the design of the new block and how it would work with the existing building. Another area for improvement relates to the bar. The drinks were inconsistent (I ordered the same drink twice but it was made completely differently). Also the bar was closed due to a private function, but the guests had no notice of this. To get a drink required the long route to the restaurant.

We didn’t know where to stay on our first trip to Dominica. Staying at the Fort Young Hotel allowed us to get acquainted with the area as well as visit many local natural areas (waterfalls, hot pools, Syndicate Trail, Champagne Reef) with the guidance of the hotel concierge (Vivianna is the best asset!) and their travel company, KHATTS. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We opted to eat on our own with some room service and bar food, with a couple of trips to local restaurants (check out Portions, 61 Old St, Roseau). Perfect trip for budget aware teachers.

Staff were great , hotel is located in a great area. Food selection in hotel was ok. Wish they had more variety but it was good food.

The receptionists were friendly, very helpful and accommodating. I required first aid as I had hurt my arm elsewhere earlier that day, and the staff looked after me, treated me and me settled in.

Very good value. The tower rooms are truly amazing. Total. Luxury

No orientation of room. After awhile they started drilling. Which disturbed very much

Great location, staff, and service

I would have given five stars if the hotel's food service and hotel's restaurants were better (I got sick eating their food). But room-wise everything was great.

I liked the rooms, a nice ocean view. Rooms were nicely laid out , bathroom with rain shower head. The balcony was a nice place to relax. Friendly staff. My only wish was that they could have offered a late checkout…, they did store our luggage .

The addition is beautiful but the architect who designed the overall layout between old and new, needs to go back to school to learn the basics of movement. It is amazing how such a beautiful hotel can get the layout so wrong. It is nigh impossible to figure out the staircases and paths around this hotel. Such a shame because it is a beautiful hotel. I assume in an emergency (does Dominica have such shocks?) you would be stuck in a maze of steps.

The property and staff were amazing! The only thing that needs improvement would be the number of sun beds by the pool were very limited, there was only 6 chairs so it was difficult to get seating around the pool

Beautiful room with balcony overhanging the sea. Absolutely perfect views….. until a cruise ship comes in! Most cruise ships, although they obliterate the view, are considerate and respectful of the beautiful location they are in. I was extremely happy with everything until my final night when I was hoping to watch the sunset on my balcony with a glass of wine. However the Aria Perla monstrosity of a cruise ship pulled in and spent the entire evening blasting out awful disco music. I ended up spending my last night in my room as the view had been wiped out and my ears were being assaulted by noise pollution. When there are no cruise ships in (most of the week), the room and balcony is phenomenal (although I would have loved a hammock!) and a reasonable price. However, the room is extremely overpriced when a large cruise ship arrives. As the hotel must know timetables for these ships, I think room rates should be adjusted accordingly. I felt very cheated out of my ‘sea view’. I can imagine that in peak cruise season the overall experience would be poor (the hotel is expensive for Dominica). The gym was well equipped, although very warm. Additional fans or placing cardio machines under the AC vents and the other machines and equipment further away would improve things. Also wasn’t always kept stocked up with towels The room itself was a good size and tastefully decorated. Very clean. I arranged a pick up to get to hotel which didn’t arrive which was poor

It is a beautiful and conveniently located property. Our room was obviously in need of renovation. Our tv never worked although they sent someone every day to "fix it", it never was fixed. The concierge was extremely helpful and the staff, including the servers at the restaurant were wonderful.
