Short stay in Madeira for the Xmas lights and markets, lovely hotel lovely weather

Hotel Eden Mar is a gem among the many hotels of the new Funchal area. The many pools, grounds and general facility are kept in immaculate shape. The daily cleaning of our rooms and hotel was amazing. When we were tired of all the tourist activities on the island Eden Mar provided a quiet retreat where it was just fun to enjoy the swimming and grounds at the hotel. The choices for breakfast must have covered everything and there were always plenty of hot tasty food and plenty of smiles and good mornings from a very hard working staff throughout the hotel. Probably one of the best if not the best hotel we have stayed at during our many travels.

stunning property, great rooms/beds. the only thing I would change is replacing the bathtubs with walk in showers. the restaurants on resort are the best in the area, if I was to stay again I would likely do half or full board instead of just breakfast

Very attentive staff and hotel is located centrally for everything you need. Beautiful gardens and pools with lovely secluded areas you can sit in the sun. Recommended and will be coming again!

Really enjoyed our stay here. Great facilities and right next to Funchal. Bedroom was extremely comfortable. Only thing that let it down is the food at the pool bar is rather poor - whilst all the food at the other restaurants and breakfast buffet is very nice.

Great hotel and facilities, it’s a shame that bars and restaurants onsite close too early. We enjoyed our stay here as a family and our room was amazing. The breakfast has a great selection but could do with better coffee choices. The restaurants onsite served up some amazing food and some of the theme nights the dinner is amazing. Carlos in the bar was amazing and very friendly, he always had a smile on his face and was great with our daughter. Will love to stay again.

Super complexe hotelier

This was our first time in Funchal, but our choice of hotel was excellent. The suite was of a good size and well supported with equipment for our needs. The balcony was great, and we had a lovely view of the sea. It was a little noisier than we were expecting, but part of that was due to a nearby hotel being renovated. I expect that rooms facing the interior of the hotel would be quieter. The ensuite was very practical and the rooms were cleaned each day to a very high standard. Towels were also provided for the pools and spa. The complex is wonderful. A choice of pools (indoor and outdoor) and plenty of options for sitting in the sun or the shade. The buffet breakfast was outstanding - plenty of choice each day with hot and cold options. You could even enjoy a glass of sparkling wine if you were so inclined! The staff spoke excellent English and were all incredibly polite and helpful. There are plenty of dining options close by, and a choice of supermarkets. A bus route into the centre was nearby, but you could walk there and back, if so inclined. We would definitely stay at this hotel again, if coming back to Funchal. Overall, it was a wonderful holiday, with plenty to see and do in Madeira.

The hotel complex was very good. The breakfast was excellent. Staff were all very friendly and worked really hard. We used the gym and pool both indoor and outdoor and everything was to a high standard. We had a junior suite and found the furnishings very tired this was a disappointment(the rest of the hotel was very different). The bathroom was old. The room was a good size. The bed was comfortable.

I loved this hotel! This was our third time to Madeira but first at this hotel. In future this is where I will always book. The staff treat you like family and everyone from front desk, restaurant, bar, pool staff all pay attention to the smallest of details to make the guests comfortable. This resort is perfectly located and has so many nice amenities. We have a child with mobility problems and everything was accessible. It has numerous big pools both heated and unheated. The gym was one of the best at a hotel I have seen. There are numerous family games to play such as ping pong, air hockey, snooker, and boules. There is also a small playground. The food at the hotel is delicious but is also very close to good restaurants and a good sized supermarket. Wonderful place!

Beautiful resort, easy to get into town down the hills, friendly staff all speak good English. Guests were from across Western Europe not only Brits. The Beds and room were very comfortable. My only negative was the walls seemed quite thin once it was occupied next door. Hopefully the next major refurbishment insulation is added to walls to make it fully quiet, but this is really trivial. Overall it was very comfortable and a great place to relax and revive. Having the kitchen area was also very useful when you get fed up of restaurant food and want to prepare something lighter. Would definitely stay here again.

Considering it is one of the oldest hotels in Lido Eden MaR remains one of the best ! Amazing gardens, comfortable up to date accommodation and excellent service! Breakfast at Alfama was very nice each time I went! Would recommend this hotel and PortoBay Group.

A nice property but the food service, particularly the breakfast is not commensurate with the type of hotel this property is trying to be. The coffee was like dishwater....juices were half watered down, no variety from day to day. Needs improvement.

The property is in excellent condition and offers a variety of amenities with a selection of restaurants, pools and beautiful gardens. The rooms are comfortable with excellent beds. Would recommend Porto Bay hotels they are synonymous with Quality! Your Eden in Funchal!

Great location, friendly staff

The hotel complex was lovely, with great restaurants, particularly Alfamma on Thursday night was excellent. However, the room was very spacious but it did feel quite dated, especially the bathroom! Very enjoyable stay though.

Elegant, sea-facing hotel, set among tropical gardens with several restaurants and swimming pools. It’s part of the Porto Bay group and one of three hotels within the Porte Mare resort in Funchal. The staff is very helpful and the breakfast had a good choice of food. There are shops and restaurants around the hotel, and a supermarket nearby. If you are fit, it's an acceptable walk to town. Otherwise you can take a taxi or a bus.

Hotel and room was as pictured. The bed, robe and slippers were very comfortable. Breakfast options were great and freshly replenished throughout breakfast service. The happy hour bartenders near Almafita restaurants were kind and made great drinks. Receptionists staff were accommodating and friendly. The hotel, without issue, kindly allowed us to check out late due to us having an evening flight to Lisbon. I would definitely stay at this property again.

Hotel was easy to walk or there was a bus stop right outside. Lovely gardens with lots of private Lounging areas.

One of the best hotel I've ever been. Outstanding outdoor areas with 2 beautiful pools ( 1 indoor). Numerous amenities. Very good quality for Breakfast and Dinner. Huge room with Sea View. Definitely recommend this hotel!

Due to BA cancelling our return flight originally scheduled for 26th May and not offering an altrrnatuve same day we has to leave a fay early. When we asked Expedia about changing the hotel booking to make it a day less they responded that they could not and that we would need to talk to the hotel. When we did on arrival we were informed we would need to speak with Expedia. Not a very satisfatory outcome other than a lost day of our holiday
