We didn’t end up staying we checked out due firstly to the odour that emanated through the hotel from permanent residence living in the hotel. The room itself was unkempt bathroom was grott, toilet seat coming off and cupboards falling apart. dirty floor.
Beds were dishevelled. TV was on in room like someone had been staying in the room in vacated just as we arrived.
In the room for a period of approximately 15 minutes before leaving hotel. Very disappointing to arrive to the state that it was.

This is an expensive hotel and it wasn’t extremely clean and the beds were uncomfortable. It was okay and worked for our one night there.

They have not bothered to respond
I would like to give others a heads up before booking
I don’t know if it’s their “Expedia allocated rooms” or what
But for over $200 a night
I expect a basic standard of cleanliness

The most perfect, friendly & expert team in auckland. The Spencer is a dream for a break in the city —- with huge views out to Rangitoto, beautiful spacious , clean & spacious rooms, it is a home away from home. Thank you all for welcoming me & taking such care.

The Spencer is my dream home away-from-home. The staff are so welcoming & attend to every request or question with a smile. The rooms are large, full of light with the most fabulous views across to Rangitoto and beyond. The hotel is immaculately clean, offers a large gym & pool. I will return and can’t recommend it more. Totally perfect for a peaceful stay in the city-by-the-sea! Expansive views from the spacious, well equipped rooms and kind accommodating staff have made my time here everything and more that I expected. Every day starts with the breathtakingly inspirational view, within easy reach of the city or for a seaside escape on the many local beaches.

When I reserved, June 4th this year, I specifically asked about a hotel bar and restaurant as we planned to watch the AB's vs England there, I was told yes. On arriving I asked when would the bar open, to be told bar and restaurant closed for refurbishing! I also asked about the Gold Card discount and early booking fee, to be told I'd need to contact Expedia about that! Overall basically a very overpriced venue, $500.00 for 2 nights plus parking.More of a motel than a hotel. What can be done about this please? Thanks, Jane.

An excellent location with many dinning and shopping option's right on the 'doorstep'. Easy to get to and from by car and foot. Very good in room amenities and great views.

Easy to find, parking inside and outside was good for my truck. Would of like to know before that pool and spa heater not working. Comfy bed, shower so powerful had to be careful it didnt go everywhere. Stayed 2 nights, rubbish not taken, towels and amenities not replaced. Room was very tidy and welcoming, lovely views from the balcony

Disappointed that I couldn't use the pool or spa as it wasn't heated. Still under maintenance.No bar. Soundproof room and size was great.

Lovely comfortable room. We were lucky enough to have an amazing view across the harbour to the city. Spa pool was lovely too.

We stayed overnight here for meetings the following day and it is in a very handy spot. However, I chose this place because it has a spa and desperately wanted one due to very achy muscles. Nobody told us the spa was not working and I only found out when I went to the spa. Disappointed and embarrassed I went back to my room. I also found a pubic hair on my bed which was gross and no replacement tissues in the room when they ran out after only 4 left in the box. Was ok other than this but very dated rooms too.

Unfortunately the spa pool was only lukewarm at best. Was not able to be heated in the 2 days we were there. We were not told about it before getting in. The spa/pool area was the reason we chose this hotel so we were very disappointed in that.

We loved the pool and spa. In our toilet back part kept filling up to much then it would over flow into the toilet. this kept waking me up every 30min-hour, thinking someone else was in our room. Due to kids being asleep didn’t want to ask for another room.
The bed and pillows super comfy.
Lady at reception was very professional and freindly.

Lovely staff and fantastic views from 10th floor and very clean pool and hot pool was lovely! Diwn side was drier in suite not working after swim so ended up with wet togs and towels and no restaurant open, no bar open and when we stay in a supposed hotel we expect not to be charged $35 fir room service every day on top of $270 nz per night. Reception floor needs revarnishing badly! We've stayed here before in 2020 but this would be our last stay unless refurbished.
