Perfect getaway for us, This is our 3rd time staying at the Holbrooke. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, The woman who checked us in was so sweet she gave us free drink at the bar for waiting a few minutes to check in. Room was in adjacent building which was totally cute. Bed was comfy and bedding crisp and cozy. Hotel is always perfectly maintained. They’re currently setting up downstairs bar for Christmas. We had the most fun ever there last year. We will come back before Christmas.

Great Hotel, old time charm with updated convenience. Fabulous restaurant! Great drinks and the bar and wonderful food. Perfect area for walking about. Only negative I have was you do not have air control of your own room. Was hot the first night, but they turned it down the next. Overall great place

The hotel is historic and really nice like looking. The bed was comfy, albeit too mushy. There was no tv in the room, which was unexpected. The sink in the room had virtually no water pressure and the cold handle didn’t work. But the biggest issue…. The walls are incredibly thin. You can hear absolutely everything around your room… maybe that’s why there aren’t tvs!? Come with earplugs and your devices if you want in room entertainment.

Historic hotel with large, well maintained rooms, nice common areas, a cool bar and an average restaurant. Only drawback was the breakfast: minimal with like warm coffee on the day we were there.

Very nice clean hotel. Fiona ? at Check in very friendly/informative. I requested a quiet room, the hotel itself was quiet except for the location of the room (# 4) I could hear all the cars going by which prevented me from having a good nights rest. The nearby shops opened a bit late, some at 11am or 12 noon, and we had to move on to our next destination by then. Also when we were walking the downtown at 9 pm, mostly everything was closed except a couple of places to eat/drink, it was very quiet. Hot breakfast was only one entree. We were unable to use our $10 food/drink credit because the bar/restaurant opened at 11am & we had to leave. Overall, nice place, would stay again but ask for quieter location.

The best stay ever. The hotel was beautiful and the room was amazing. Checkin was easy and the people there were so nice. I upgraded my room to a king suite and im so happy i did. The bed was comfortable and the decor of the room was tastefully done. I had access to the belcony that oversees their downtown area. The bar/restaurant within the Hotel had the best good and drinks ever. Definitely will be coming here again to stay.

Sweet slice of refreshing resetting! I'd been wanting to stay at the Holbrook for years and when I was finally able to get away for some self care the hotel did not disappoint.
Lovely comfy, clean, quiet room. Deep bathtub for soaking, and a lovely restaurant for happy hour dinner, plus the added bonus of a small but delicious breakfast in the morning.

We booked this hotel last minute and was pleasantly surprised a room was available. Our check in process was quick and easy and our room was extremely nice and inviting. We had a delicious dinner at the Golden Gate Saloon located inside the hotel. Super friendly staff! We can't wait to come back.

We went to the Holbrooke on a recommendation from a friend, for our 19th wedding anniversary. The hotel was beautiful, quiet, and the staff everywhere was so nice, helpful, and friendly.
We are already planning our next trip!

Cute botique hotel. Great location. In the heart of downtown. One issue i had was that room amenities said coffee & tea service and there was only tea offered with an electric tea kettle. I like to have at least 1 cup of coffee in the room before facing anyone. Coffee served down in breakfast room, not available in the room. If you are like me, bring your own french press or drip cone funnel with your own coffee.

I would have liked to order breakfast. The kitchen didn't open until 11 am and the breakfast offering was a free for all that began before 9 am, when I arrived. At that time, there was almost nothing left.

Rooms need a TV especially when most of the surrounding businesses (shops & restaurants) close during the week early and are closed on Sunday and Monday. Disappointing

Place was great, but they didn't the old surprise! That's $22 extra a night for no reason thing. Unfortunately, I won't be back. It's completely unexceptionable to surprise charge people who are already spending good money. Beautiful rooms, nice bar, pleasant staff. Ridiculous hided fee at check in 4- out of five stars

We liked that the property retained its 19th century charm but had modern amenities. But why have a menu that is mostly Thai food or Thai spiced in an old west hotel restaurant and bar? Please give me some Hangtown fries and buffalo meat!

Ambiance. Your hotel has the feel of an historic location in a gold rush town. The other guests were dressed in elaborate tuxes and dining during evening hours on out door balcony's. I am older and retired with asthma amount other conditions. The small size room in the carriage house (22), the musty air caused me significant breathing difficulty, and midnight noise of returning gusts. My sleep was quite poor. Lovely hotel but not for me.

Very nice stay. We felt the breakfast offering was poor given that breakfast was included.
Each day there was a small as one and a potato and egg frittata. Self serve. Coffee was good but would have been nice to have fruit, granola and other offerings.

Great place to stay in downtown Grass Valley. The rooms are nice and clean. Service was great. Breakfast was just OK. Scones are so so and the egg dish was the same four mornings in a row. However, there’s a great little coffee shop/bakery across the street. Great bar. Nice restaurant. Lots of restaurants in downtown and great shopping. We will visit again.
