We enjoyed our huge king size bedroom and fabulous service. Staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was fantastic. Would recommend this hotel.

Hotel is dated but clean.

It is a beautiful hotel in a great location with great and kind staff. Sadly, the property needs a big face lift: fresh coats of painting and general repairs throughout the property.

Very professional and informative as well as helpful.

I like mattress covers on the bed and sheets that are fitted. No mattress covers allow for stains and other fluids in the mattress and the bottom sheet wasn't fitted so it came off the bed.

Do not stay here! I’m not one to do reviews usually and this is the first bad review i’ve ever left. We booked two nights here, when we arrived the room smelt so strongly of varnish we got headaches after only a few minutes. We decided to stay somewhere else for that night since they had no other rooms available and requested a refund for the missed night. Over two weeks later and we’re still yet to receive the refund even though the manager promised he would. In general, the lift doesn’t work properly and the property is very run-down. Stay away!

Really friendly staff. The room was not fancy but clean and comfortable. Good breakfast. Close to city center. Well priced.

The hotel is a bit worn and old , but has a nice atmosphere and fantastic personnel.

Need some improvements, if you rent a car add some extra cost for parking.

The charm of the historical property and the very good staff. The Location is excellent close to theaters, entertainment, and walking distance to the high street.

In general, everything is as advertised, the pictures taken sell the hotel very well, but I believe as more than it actually is. The breakfast is bad, so better skip it and go somewhere else. It is not only very bad presented, but not good in quality. And the fact that there is no kitchen besides it, for room service (or any part of the day that you don't want to go out or arrive late in the day) is a bit of a bother. You would expect it in a hotel that tries to sell as high-end.

Nao consegui ficar no hotel! O lenço estava sujo, a tomada ao lado da cama não funcionava para carregar o celular e o sinal do Wi-Fi no quarto estava fraco… A internet não conectou…

Efficient check in. Helpful staff. English. Good breakfast. Ok bed, though 2 joined twins, even though bought queen size. Poor room condition. Mold in bath and air. Rusty vanity table. Old, run down area.

The hotel and service were great. Receptionists were really friendly, professional and helpful. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was the same all days, so there is maybe space for improvement. The pool is good, but not so big as expected. Location is great (3 mins to Theatre Solis). He hotel itself is located in an old building, so i.e. my wooden floor creaked, but i think its just the character of renovated buildings.

The room was quite spacious and comfortable however 2 out of 3 nights we have stayed in Esplendor we were woken up by the noise from the corridor ( other guests coming from parties, bringing visitors and not respecting those who were already asleep). The bathroom require some ventilation as it shows pretty bad moulds on the walls and ceiling. Breakfast offered good variety of cereals, yogurts, and sandwich toppings including ham cheese and veggies . Unfortunatelly, as we were setting off at 6 am ( breakfast serving starts at 7am ) we have asked if the breakfast room staff could prepare some snack or sandwiches for us, to which we were told no, even tho the breakfast was already paid! Over all a bit disappointed for a 4 star hotel.

A screw was sticking out of the floor. A floor board was sucken and needed to be replaced. Some public walls needed plaster, sanding and new paint. Breakfast was satisfactory

The spa was hot and clean but needed the sauna to work, and changing rooms in the spa not outside! Hotel has character but it needs redecorating and the streets around are very dirty,dodgy and dark at night. Montevideo city is run down and there are lots of homeless,and drug dealers around. Interesting museums to visit are the Palacio Dalancio and the Andes museum( for the story about the plane crash depicted in the movie”Alive”. Best to visit the beautiful Solis Theatre, a real gem of a place! Also for restaurants near the hotel ( of which there are very few) visit Los Lenos which is an excellent restaurant...especially the Steak and the Lasagne with spinach! The boss man and the barman were so welcoming as well as all their team of wait-staff. Staff at the Espendor were all very welcoming and helpful with ideas and booking taxis.
