This place could be really good. Our room was clean and good value for money but the welcome, check in and directions to the room was less so. Shame as it is a really good spot and could be so much more.

Flickering light, no hot water, outdated, old, broken vent on aircon, look nothing like advertised

Cute little spot for a single night’s stay. Property is a little dated but the room was perfect for our needs, with working aircon and a nice hot shower. Price reflects what you get and is fair.

Husband woke up with sore shoulders from the hard mattress, either the airconditioner was set to not heat or we weren't using it correctly. During the night we could hear the guy in the next room snoring!! Its a nice old hotel and there was an excellent band playing on the Saturday night. 🙂

Comfy bed, hot water in the shower, picturesque building. Great hamburger in the restaurant. Very pleasant place to spend a night.

The location was perfect, right in the middle of town. The staff were friendly and service was quick.

Great location, heritage room was fantastic, well appointed and included microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge. Great value for money. Shower was hot. We stayed in room 19 and I would highly recommend staying there, tucked away well. Only downside is due to very reasonable costs, the place was overrun with a wedding party which decided to disrupt everyone for a few hours. Other then that, place is very good value for money. Heritage weekend was full of things to do.

Friendly staff, in the centre of York, basic but adequate

It was great that it was in the centre of town, restaurant on premises. Great coffees. Good beds in room. What was not so great - lukewarm water for shower, mouldy shower cubicle, no table in room. Problem with ants in the room. Food at restaurant was bland and tasteless.

Beautiful place to stay . But choice of entertainment never changes .same band every time we come up .same jokes Give other local people a chance Thats the only way musicians learn .asked for request's they have no idea

Dont ever accept room 69. Its right next to an air conditioning duct of some sort which is so noisy it kept me awake all night with its clattering. On top of that i wasnt offered any assistance with getting my luggage and touring bicycle up and down some long and very steep stairs (no lifts) to room 69 on the upper floor. Im a 73 year old female so that was quite a struggle! Receptionist said I was lucky to get a room...I was lucky to be paying for a substandard room which should not be sold to anyone wanting to sleep...what's lucky about that? Receptionist obviously hasnt done the customer relations refresher course. Im hoping I dont fall down the stairs getting my bike out. Perhaps they need someone to make a compensation claim on their public liability policy to remind them that their patrons are perhaps a tiny bit important to their business. I will not stay here again.

I thought my room was beautiful, the only thing I was concerned about was the shower being in the bath, its ok for young people but when your nearly 70 its unsafe..Thank you for a lovely meal and room.

The room we booked into was part of the old building, it felt damp and was very dated. We had no hot water for the weekend so had to walk to another room to shower. Accomodation was a bit of a let down.

Staff were lovely. Location was great in the middle of town. Room was comfortable with everything we needed. The spa was fabulous. I would stay again.

We had a room that faced the road but this made our access with bags very easy and there was no problem with noise. Rooms were a little cramped but the toaster provided was much appreciated for a quick breakfast. Very short walk through the property to the restaurant. The food was good but very limited for my husband who is a coeliac.

The smell of cigarette (or otherwise) in room 55 was overwhelming. We opened the window when we checked in and thought this would clear the smell but when returning after dinner the smell was still overwhelming. We tried to report this to reception but they were closed. We reported this to housekeeping in the morning but it was an unpleasant sleep.

We loved the Nice clean and well presented room . The bath was a bonus too. The staff we met were wonderful , very helpful and genuinely great people ( pip, Chloe and Emily) Thank you for a great stay we will be back to stay at room 69

My wife has mobility issues and I had not realised that we had been allocated an upstairs room until we arrived. However, when we checked in, Linda, the duty manager, immediately offered us the use of the special needs room instead. Great customer focus. We will be back.

We were NOT Happy with the confusion booking an earlier day with Settlers Hotel York....This is False as there is No such thing.....Will tell our friends to be very careful when booking Settlers House York...

pleasant stay and close to everything

comfortable two night stay in a modern room - in middle of town and close to all amenities, close to eateries and shops. Wonderful history locally and a beautiful location.

Lovely old building in a historic town that has much to offer. Staff were friendly and helpful with meals available at the Inn. The room was comfortable but not as clean as expected, food crumbs on the service table in the room. Needs another power cord for the TV and the hot water serviced, scorching hot or freezing. Overall a cheap and cheerful stay which was fantastic value for the price.
