Alfredo and Nelly were super helpful. They arranged rides to and from the airport and to all the activities we wanted. They helped find out cost, reserve trips with guides, coordinate timetables and figure out what we wanted.
The rooms were clean and super comfortable and we watched a beautiful beach sunset from our patio daily.
The included breakfast was Nicaraguan standard fair: fresh, simple, and delicious.
It was lout throughout the weekend with its proximity to nightclubs, but it wasn’t too bad. We slept great while we were there.

Travelers be warned there is a disco across the street that is open till 6 am ,, very loud .
Other than that wonderful room and top floor had great view of the beach

I lost a diamond ring set. I was going to proposed to my girlfriend and when I look for the rings they’re were missing. I called management to file a complaint and they told the housekeeper that cleaned the room has gone to vacation. They said they were going to ask her whenever she gets back.
No bueno.

Lovely hotel, quite grand. Nice pool and big room with view out to the beach. Great location, close to everything but very noisy at night due to nightclubs nearby.

Great property, beautiful room and view, excellent staff and breakfast. We were nervous about noise levels as it is across bars and a hostel is right behind, but had no issues at all. Just make sure the balcony doors are closed and AC is on :)

We loved the balcony view of the ocean, the streets, and the restaurants. Hotel Alcazar was Clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.
We did not like the pool temperature. We found it very cold.

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. The noise from Club Arribas between 11 PM and 3 AM was brutal; the earplugs provided at check-in hinted at the issue. Additionally, I noticed some stained linen sheets and curtains, but despite these drawbacks, Room 7 was a beautiful choice, especially with its spacious terrace.

Great location. Attentive staff. Amazing breakfast! However, reading the reviews prior regard noise was definitely helpful. It’s noisy! Earplugs are a must. But the location was very central so perfect for walking/adventuring around town.

The hotel is clean and comfortable, with a view of the beach. While the hotel itself is fine, there's a bar across the street that plays very loud music til 3am. You won't be able to get any sleep.

Although we had a beautiful rooftop suite, to access it you have to walk up several flight of steps. It was extremely loud and the metal rafts on the roof kept me up all night as the wind blew.
I’ve stayed here several times and never had issues but this time I found stains on the bedsheets and our shower toiletries were never stocked. I assume the location makes it difficult for housekeeping to reach.
In short avoid the rooftop terrace room.

This hotel is in the middle of everything. All the bars and restaurants is just a few steps away. The hotel grounds and rooms are in excellent condition.

Clean hotel with a great view of the beach and great customer service. The hotel was very nice, but the selling point is their professional, accommodating staff. One staff member in particular, Alfredo, treated us like family. He assisted in finding transportation to local beaches, surf lessons, places to eat and visit. He was quick to help us with any questions and share the history of Nicaragua. After being stung by a stingray, Alfredo provided assistance with remedies to treat the pain and cut. Because of him, we will return!!
Gracias amigo (ALFREDO) and thank you Hotel Alcazar

The best thing about this hotel was our spacious, well furnished balcony overlooking the beach which is right across the street. The constant sound of the surf enhanced our relaxation. Breakfast wasn't included in our reservation, but the staff served us a generous continental breakfast each morning. For other meals, we enjoyed super fresh fish and lobster at nearby beachfront restaurants. The nearby disco was loud late at night, as noted in other comments. We were able to sleep by closing the balcony doors and running the aircon until the disco closed. We definitely will return despite that flaw.

The hotel was easy to find and parking in front was free and a breeze. Most people we found touring Nicaragua hadn't rented cars. The staff was attentive and very helpful. The room was very nice and we upgraded to ocean front on the third floor for a couple of nights. The only drawback is the noise at night so we used the proffered ear plugs each night and slept well. We were able to get our coffee and breakfast sent to our room each morning or if you prefer you can eat in the lobby/bar area. This hotel is right in the middle of the entire tourist section so there's a lot of street and pedestrian traffic. Good restaurants nearby as well as many bars.

The rooms are quite simple; but, very spacious and clean. The ocean view from the room was a bonus; but, a bunch of telephone wires were right in prime view. Maybe the top floors have a less obstructive view. It was nice to sit on the balcony for some fresh air reading. The staff were very friendly and attentive. This hotel is right in the middle of the action, so it does get loud at night. Once the parties died down- I slept peacefully to the waves. Our room is facing the street so maybe the inner rooms are less noisy. Overall great hotel. I probably wouldn’t recommend to a friend unless they are night owls or the party type.

One of the better options in the town, right across from the main town beach (not surf beach)

Even though San Juan del sur is not that nice of a town, it was very nice to stay at hotel alcazar. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They were the only reason that we enjoyed our stay in San Juan. It was clean which is very important.

Very nice hotel, well located. The service was friendly; excellent continental breakfast. For sure there is loud music from the disco around the hotel (on Thursday-Friday-Saturday nights) but still, its an hotel where we would go back. We have a room inside i.e. on the pool, an excellent choice!

Close to all that you need in SJDS. Beautiful hotel with a big outdoor area for seating, and an amazing view of the beach. AC works very well! Can be noisy on the weekends, but didnt bother us. SJDS loses power in and out sometimes, but the hotel does have a generator, so after 10 minutes without power the generator kicks in but unfortunately the AC doesnt work with the generator. They do have a fan as a back up in each room though. The pool was small, but good for what we needed.

Do not stay in this hotel unless you are in town to party. I stayed on a Thursday night and it was as though there was party in my room until around 2am. At one point I could hear different music from two different directions. When I complained I was directed towards the earplugs I had been provided with.
Unfortunately earplugs will not drown out this level of noise nor does they stop the vibrations from the booming bass.
This is a lovely hotel otherwise and the staff are lovely and very helpful. On the first night, I was willing to overlook the noisy a/c, patchy wifi and terrible breakfast for a clean room and a hot shower. However the second night was unbearable and travellers should be aware of this before they book this expensive hotel.
An email of complaint has still not been answered.
