Astoria Palawan is one of a kind resort. Everything about the property was top notch. From the decadent breakfast to the Dinner buffet. The staff was so friendly and every request was fulfilled immediately. I’ll definitely go back.

The Astoria Palawan would have gotten five stars for welcoming and helping staff, the magnificent night lights all over the resort and for the great bright orange room accents. But I deducted two stars for customers service and a lack of “adult only” relaxing and swimming areas.
I found it bizarre that a resort with a private beach did not serve drinks or food at the beach. I had to go to a bar, order and wait 20 minutes for my drink to be bought over from the restaurant as the bar didn’t have Piña Colada ingredients.
There needs to be a designated “Adults Only” pool.
I was enjoying happy hour and a swim at the Pod from 4pm.
The tranquility was slowly interrupted to the point that I had to leave as there were over 20 (poorly supervised) children jumping into the pool (breaking a pool rule), splashing in my face and so many high pitched squealing voices.
The bikes were not supervised so there was no one to advise the seat on the bike. The bikes were all quite rusty and are in seperate need of a service. Also, regarding the bikes, you can only ride around the resort, which takes about 10 minutes. I wanted to explore outside the resort grounds but was stopped by a security guard.
The resort food is average, except the included buffet breakfast, which has a good variety of different cuisine choices, so eat up at breakfast time.
I highly recommend the Joshua Restaurant, in a triangular building, out side of the resort for amazing food and well priced drinks.

I love the resort concept, the pools, the water park, the breakfast buffet and the entertainment at night. The performers (fire dancers and singers) are all talented but I feel those talents should be showcased more. We could hardly see the performers from the restaurant; maybe a spotlight would have helped or maybe a TV monitor inside the restaurant. Also, the reception people at check in should inform the guests about activities guests can do while staying there, such as entertainment at night at specific time (we kept missing the fire dance because we kept being misinformed), night club ( we stayed for 4 nights and we didn’t know there was one until our last night), water park access and many other pieces of information guests should know at time of checkin.
All the staff are good, everyone gave excellent service.

Hotel itself is clean and staff respectful but it’s 1.5 hrs away from airport..the beach is disgusting with tampons and sewage water noted in the morning low tide. You are at the mercy of the hotels excursions due to increased transport needed to get to destinations. I.e. el nido is 4hrs each way and then factor in your excursion time. It’s a long day. Plus you need to wait til they have at least 6 passengers to book any excursion with them. It’s doable if you’re not on a budget. Breakfast buffet was great. Dinner buffet not so good. Pool is dirty water with sediment floating around. Basically a no go for anyone looking for beach and basking in the sun resort

Me and my wife had a wonderful stay at your resort in the end of Febrary. ❤️ We plannned to stay there for two nights, extended it to four, all the last nights of our fantastic stay in Palawan. Everything was perfect, the resort itself, the Staff, the Airport transport, only one hour and ten minutes, so even if the resort is a bit long distance from Puerto Princesa, 60 km, it's no problems to get to and from, either to visit town or reach a plane. 👍 Again, thank you for the wonderful stay together with your fantastic Staff, this was ultimate experience in Palawan. Greetings to all of you from Elvira and Erling Larsen ❤️👍😊😎

Everything was almost excellent, EXCEPT one staff in the check-in area who attended us didn’t make us feel welcome probably because we don’t look rich or fancy. She was like a robot who was just keep talking so fast without ensuring if I hear her with such a noisy environment. She was interacting with me like she doesn’t want me to ask any questions. She just want to send us right away to our room without ensuring if we understand all the things she said. How come this lady works in the front desk but has no passion on what she’s doing???
And it turns out she is the CS Team-leader.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Didn’t like the excessively loud music in the bar.

The checkout process was too slow, there over 40 mins just waiting for them to clear me to leave premises. They said we had broken some “service request “ signage but didn’t wait for them to show it to me becuz already it Gad been long enough. Do we just paid for it without seeing and rushed out to catch plane, lost too much time waiting for the clearance.

Pros:
- nice rooms, the deluxe room is a bit bigger than the superior room and has a table for four persons. Fridge, safety deposit box and 2 queen sized beds. Our bathroom had a bath tub.
- decent food mostly for asian taste with a big choice of meals.
- excellent service and helpful staff.
- some indoor and outdoor activities like waterpark, golf, table tennis
Cons:
- there is only one big disadvantage why we probably will not return to Astoria: it was not allowed to swim at the beach during our whole stay! The reason which the guard told me: jellyfish. Actually i haven't seen any but that is not the point. There was no official information of the hotel why the beach is closed and how long it would take. The resort is about 1 hour drive away from Puerto Princesa. Astoria did not offer any alternatives for transportation to another beach. So we spent a lot of money and effort organizing transportation and beach activities for ourselves. I did not come to Palawan not for swimming in a pool! Calm sea, nice weather and swimming is not allowed. No information, no apologies, no alternative. That is a no-go for me.
Thank you for reading.

My mother and I had a wonderful time at Astoria Palawan. We were warmly welcomed by the staff with a delicious coconut-based dessert and drink. Our room was spacious, clean, and the shower had strong water pressure. There were plenty of activities on the resort including but not limited to--karaoke, board games, kayaking, mini-golf, a water park, etc. We were only there for a couple of days, so we didn't have a chance to do everything. The food also was delicious. There was a wide variety of food including a traditional Western style and Filipino classics. All the staff members we met were super friendly. One particular staff member was Ivan Jimenez who went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable during our dinner. A pro and a con of this place is it's quite isolated from the city. It's great because it's quiet and peaceful, but if you wanted to go out and explore Puerto Princesa, then you would be a bit disappointed as it is about 1 hour away from town though you could easily arrange transportation with the staff. Overall, I had a great time and would consider staying here again.

A very nice peaceful and quiet place to stay. Excellent service and hospitality. If you want to relax in nature, this is for you. If you want action and crowds, really the only thing is the water park, and it’s very nice, too.

Amazing resort. I cant think of anything negative to say. Staff is super friendly and helpful, food and entertainment were exceptional, rooms were clean and comfy. Only thing i might suggest is: use the resort transport, it is more reliable then a private van.

This is a nice hotel very rural so everything relies on the hotels facilities. Great very accommodating staff and nice ground’s especially with Christmas lights. No hand towels in the bedroom which was strange and no steps into the pool so for an older person could be difficult. Food obviously biased to Asian clientele so not always appealing to western tastes. However a nice place to relax and unwind for a few days

Excellent service, excellent food, friendly and hospitable community! Will definitely come back given another opportunity!

I wish it was closer to downtown. However the hotel had shows at night and a delicious dinner to make up for the lack of nightlife in the area

Excellent service by everyone. Staff will always greet you with a smile. They are all attentive, helpful, and has positive attitude. Our room is clean and modern. The hotel is in secluded area but I felt secured. I observed facility securities were making rounds. There is always someone willing to help. The one thing that I don’t like was there were no nearby restaurants. The resort though have a very nice restaurant with good food. Weekend is buffet style.

the place is beautiful and staff are all wonderful, very pleasant and accommodating. My family and I look forward going back at Astoria Palawan a year or so.

The peaceful surrounding, cleanliness and everyone is so kind and always there to help you. We stayed for seven nights and really enjoyed our vacation.

Pool was great. Service excellent.. rooms were immaculate

Outstanding service and range of activities, but the restaurant/food were underwhelming in terms of efficiency, consistency, & variety (although the breakfast was nice). Walls are a bit thin as well and the power kept going in and out at night. It’s far from the city center as well.

Our (unfortunately) short stay of 4 nights started off with a bit of a burp. Our PAL flight from Manila was delayed for 3 hours which meant we would be late for our shuttle pickup. We misconnected. But the hotel made it all well.
We had a lovely spacious room with complete amenities.
Breakfast again exceeded expectations, as did the evening alacarte grill.
The pools were lovely and we had no problems finding lounge chairs during our stay (mind you the hotel was not overcrowded).
We were amazed to find that the hotel had generous happy hours that extended to 8PM and how inexpensive the food was for essentially a captive audience. I can't remember if I have ever eaten so cheaply in a hotel restaurant and how good the food quality was.
I could go on but should close. Thanks AA for a wonderful stay.

The property is very good but the location is far from the shops and other amenities

I loved it here. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond! Service with a smile. The only things I can think of improving were the bathroom amentiies--limited towels and toiletries...but they were easy to request. Keep up the good work, Astoria.

It was nice, just not as good as we expected. Average beds and tv. Concrete floor in room. Stone flooring in bathroom created an uneven walking surface in bathroom.

I have booked 4 rooms for 2 couples with kids for 8 nights. unfortunately, 2 rooms provided were below standards. with complaints and reminders, the 2 rooms were upgraded. the booing does not explain the difference between rooms. For room keys, they only provide one key per room and you have to bargain to get the second key.
The hotel does not have several food options which is a must for a remote location hotel type.

This was a huge disappointment! I booked 10 nights in this resort, hoping for a relaxing but yet enjoyable stay and the fact that you are confined in a space with a minimal of food choice is extremely unpleasant! The premise has 3 restaurant however at night, the only choice is buffet or grilled food. That’s fine if you’re staying for a couple of nights max only. Not to mention that the food isn’t very good, not tasty at all and perhaps the kitchen isn’t led by a big chef but amateurs. Asking the staff where we could go for “other” food options, we were told that we shouldn’t venture outside as not recommendable. The other option would have been to go to town driving for over 2 hours to go and come back! I believe that it’s important to mention this important fact for people who are looking at booking this place to avoid such disappointment. Given the price I paid for this time of the year, it is completely over rated and really not worth the $$$, had I known better I would have stayed my 10 days in El Nido!
