every time i come to jaco beach i stay at selinas and every time i stay it just gets better and better all the time. this time they had the entertainment of the DOUBLE tight rope walker over the pool giving lessons. i was not drunk enough to try it myself, but steven was the greatest. oh, and don't fotget aboout the every night happy hour with cocnut water and cacique. did you know that in world wars 1I and II, that they used coconut water for blood transfusions on the soldiers that lost so much blood and there was a shortage of blood supply? well, add that cacique &................probably would not have cared about the wounds. best drink and food ever. best vibe and they may need to expand the kitchen for the hostel kids. such a fun place to be! surfing school has so many peeps learning how to surf! i wish i could post my photos but once i hit send on this review then i can't get them off my phone. oh yea. they use the most up to date use your device to see the menu in order to order the food. i'm 65 but not so tech savvy. but still love to have fun in this old body, so help me get a little fatter by not making me order without the physical menu. even if you post the menu up with erasable prices with one of the cool boards that you can put the super cool BRIGHT colors that face back to back...one facing the 'audience' on poolside, and the other facing inward. hell post them toward the beach too. remind us what goodies you got on the menu! it is always GRE

Loved Selina!! It was right on the beach, total surfer vibe. Exactly what you want when you go to Jaco! I would highly recommend this property to anyone regardless of vibe!

Room was not very clean and things weren’t explained as well as I would have hoped

My favorite place in Jaco. Not only is it on the beach, it has its own bar and restaurant, as well as a pool. Staff are friendly and kind, truly first-rate. Interesting mix of guests. Free salsa lessons. On-site surfing school. Secure parking lot if you're driving. Pura vida!

Upon checkin we weren’t offered an upgrade or complimentary drink. We went to our room and realized we had no towels. I went out and asked and they said they would be right down with them. I didn’t want to be pushy but we had just spent 6hrs in the car. We waited about 30 minutes and I asked again and again was told a few minutes. We finally went to the beach with no towels just to cool off. After my 4th ask we finally received them. When I went to wash my hands lastnight after using the bathroom there was no hand soap. Last straw was this morning when showering I realized there was women’s hair all over the shower. Gross. 30 seconds in the shower stops completely. Needless to stay it wasn’t a good experience. I expressed my concerns and the receptionist just said sorry? It wasn’t her fault but this was a bad experience.

The staff was great, always with a great smile and respectful service. I didnt like the property, I guess I was expecting more... The prices at the restaurant are really high!

Great beach hostel. Visited early November and was less busy and hence wasnt very socially active. The food and drinks are great and affordable and they accept cash and card. Great beach right in front of you. The facilities are good. The only thing that I didn’t enjoy is that they dont take care of the rooms well. I rented the expensive cylinders to get the feel of it but in fact didn’t enjoy much. The space is limited, the bed sheet had bird poop on it and signs of bugs. Couldn’t sleep well at night because of itching and unable to control the ac temperature (may be ac was malfunctioning or I wasn’t able to change its mode and temperature). The staff were kind and helpful in their way.

It is beach front with many activities to do throughout the day, with free activities like movie nights, yoga, and more

The hostel was super cute and colorful I loved every part of the property, the staff answered any questions I had and were nice. The private room was very clean, nice, and aside from the community kitchen, we had a coffee machine and mini fridge in our room. The restaurant and bar on the property had great food and the daily cocktail promos were great. Short walking distance from shopping center, restaurants and grocery store. If you like adventure and a chill environment with a mix of young travelers and families I recommend Selina.

Amazing location on the beach and walkable to many restaurants. I travelled alone and felt safe. The surfing lessons were EXCELLENT. The staff were so knowledgeable and helpful. The food was also great!

The first room I stayed in had obvious prior mold issues. I had a dehumidifier in my room which I left running. On day 3, there were some plumbing issues which the front desk tried to have fixed. The plumbing issues continued to be a problem the following day so we were placed in another room. The 2nd room was great and we didn’t mind having to share a king size bed. There were several trip hazards around the property. The service at the bar was slow. The food was ok. The front desk staff - Luisa and Andres were GREAT!

People very friendly. It was a last minute stop over between Manuel Antonio to San Jose. My daughter took a surf lesson. Loved it!

It had a great location and the bar and restaurant were awesome, right on the beach with great views of spectacular surfing.

This place is great for proximity to the beach, beach bar, pool, and the staff is great, helpful, and kind. My only complaint is our room was not cleaned everyday as promised. It smelled musky due to there being no windows and no ventilation unless we left the door open (hard to do this with mosquitos and the heat). Bathroom itself was also musky, moldy, and poor ventilation. I would expect a better room being how pricey a night is here.

Selina was a perfect choice for budget that did not disappoint. For it being a Hostel it really gave off hotel vibes. The staff was super friendly, the property was extremely clean and well kept. The food on property was out of this world and not to mention the convenience of literally being on the beach was amazing.

The stay was wonderful and the staff was great! They had a fun schedule of events and a nice environment for all ages! We loved the beach and pool!

My wife and I had an amazing time at Selina Jaco. The facility itself was beautiful - stunning beachfront, beautiful pool area, and lovely and quirky rooms to stay in. The staff was wonderful and we enjoyed our meals as well as renting a surfboard from the shop. For an excellent overall experience we were pleasantly surprised with how affordable our stay was. We would highly recommend staying at Selina Jaco!

expedia noted this down as a hotel, upon arriving I started noticing its a hostel. Not what we were expecting and what we were told. Not a bad place but definitely not what we were expecting. Another thing that really threw me off was the staff was not as friendly as we were expecting... disappointed because of that. I live in Miami where I am use to paying $17 for a drink... How in the world did I get charged $27 for 1 drink at hotel Selina.. It makes no sense to me. not pleased unfortunately

Great location

Nice Hostal but the bathroom was not so good without mirror (at least it the one I used next to my room)… The pool was so good and it’s located right in front of the beach ! The restaurant was a bit pricey…

This hotel was super trendy and cute. The room was a bit smaller than expected but just fine for our short stay. We loved the pool and restaurant!

Perfectly situated right on the beach and close to the main strip for restaurants and shops. Beautiful pool, lots of fun lounge chairs on the property and beach front restaurant, with tasty food. Very pleased with the surf school affiliated with the hotel, as well!

The place itself is at a great location with a pool and a bar right on the beach. It has different options for different budgets which makes it a great value and makes it feel like a resort even for college kids in the hostel dorm on a tight budget. I had a small single room, but it very clean - with shared showers and bathrooms. The Staff, however, need to take a customer service 101 class - I was hassled for not wearing a bracelet they want you to wear at all times while swimming in the pool and staff were young and constantly on their phones instead of providing good customer service and acted bothered when asked to resolve an issue for me. Also, they didn’t communicate things like the fact you could check in your surfboards at the surf shop instead of dragging them all the way back to your room effectively - I had to ask the shop after I saw other people checking their boards. Other than the front office staff the rest of the staff were great. For me personally, it felt too much like a vacation factory and not the chilling out at the beach surfing experience ones looking for - but it was clean and is at a prime beachfront location!

Great for solo travelers! Lots of dining options along the strip and it's super easy/ convenient to book your airport shuttle and excursions through the Selina. AC worked really well, hot water was available, and the room was clean. The bathrooms are not as nice but given that they are communal they were decent.

The staff had great energy and was really helpful! Love the environment was really welcoming.
