This hotel left a terrible taste in my partner and I’d mouths. My partner acquired covid and they refused to give us a refund which is extremely distasteful no matter which way you look at it. The staff lacked empathy for our situation and kept telling us “don’t worry” when we were scrambling trying to figure out what to do. From what I could see their staff had no experience dealing with someone who is ill, and could not provide straight answers to what we should do. The owner is apparently a doctor, therefore you’d expect an above and beyond understanding of our circumstance but sadly we got the complete opposite. I rarely review places negatively and choose to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this hotel is a sad disgrace for a ‘hospitable’ place. On another note they are currently doing renovations which were very loud, cleanliness was not up to par and the property has definitely dated from the pictures.

The Bartizan was the most beautiful place to stay. The hotel is immaculately decorated, and fits right in with historical Galle. This boutique hotel is situated right in the centre of Galle- with the rooftop area overlooking the fort and walking distance to plenty of restaurants, gelato and massage places. The hotel is a short drive from Unawatuna- a beach town with a calm sea. We stayed here for two nights and had a packed breakfast (sandwich and fruit) one morning and the usual breakfast on our second day- not bad- the usual eggs, pancakes, tea/ coffee, fruit. The rooms are a reasonable size, but dark due to 'the bartizan' nature of the hotel - shutters. We found it perfect for what we needed and the wifi is fast. The roof area is really nice for afternoon tea/ reading (and they offer free tea and cake between 3-5pm). Overall we were really happy with our stay. Only small niggle was there are no shower facilities after check out (11am which they kindly extended until 12pm) which meant we couldn't do much on our last day and were just hanging about the area. Also we were told they were full so couldn't offer another room to shower (which we would have gladly paid to use), but I later found out there was actually a room available.

Lovely new hotel located within Galle Fort next to the walls that look out over the ocean. Room was very nice and quiet with a good shower and comfy bed. The staff were happy to help with anything the the breakfast was fantastic! Definitely recommended!

Sent 2 nights here with my family and had a fantastic time! The location is amazing inside the fort with everything within walking distance! The building is a 300 year old beautiful Dutch house! The staff are very accommodating too & got to have breakfast on our balcony each morning overlooking the ocean

Difficult to review this really unusual hotel. Great location, lovely feel. Particularly liked the courtyard and roof terrace. Our room was small and without a window, which isn't great for me. Storage was poor,we were really living out of the suitcases. Bathroom privacy may be an issue - as only a partition glass screen between bedroom and bathroom (in our room, don't know about other rooms). We stayed for three nights which is probably the most one would wish to do. Breakfast good, but quantities for us too large. We scaled down for second morning, but witnessed a lot of wasted food on places which is a pity in this essential poor country. I would recommend.

having stayed in the Fort before i knew what I wanted in my hotel and the Bartizan ticked all the boxes and more. Location was superb, right by the ramparts and directly off strategic pedlar st. Bartizan is a small boutique hotel with all the requisite facilities and amenities. rooms are well appointed and equipped, nice touches like designer toileteries. cosy and intimate rooftop lounge area for amazing sunsets over the indian ocean. Service was discreet and attentive. good bespoke breakfast served in the quaint and cool courtyard or outside your room. Special credit goes to Andrew, the GM, who is extremely personable, approachable, informative, warm and down to earth. overall one of the best price-value-quality boutique options in the Fort. would certainly return and make this my base

We loved our room. Beautiful Hotel and in a perfect location is you want to stay and see the Galle Fort Area. Would stay here again and would request the same room. We had a private roof top balcony and it was perfect.

Walkable distance to the beach and attractions. Clean and cozy hotel. Only thing bothers us is the placement of the basin within the room instead of the bathroom. Overall great experience staying here.

Experienced a black out in the middle of the night. The staffs were not trained to deal with the situation, I had to call the front desk a couple of times as the room was stuffy and hot. Eventually, I opened all the windows and the door leading to the balcony, which invited additional security risks. The constant howling of the wind and waves made it an unbearable night, loosely held pipes and unsecured doors added to the orchestra of polluting noises.

Great location and easy access to city and fort. Able to walk to the fort and nice places to eat nearby. Hotel breakfast is awesome and the staff is really friendly. Highly recommend to stay in this hotel.

Tower room was beautiful, very old and renovated well. The bed was on the small side and the bathroom didn't have a full length door which was frustrating. We also didn't have a safe available or wifi which worked in our room. Apart from this, the breakfast was excellent, as was the views of the ocean and the proximity to Pedlar St and the fort wall. Room Tip: Ask for a room with a safe, wifi and a proper bathroom door

Stayed for 1 night before leaving for Colombo. Lovely hotel - very nice design and very comfortable. Great breakfast (though a slightly odd mix of food stuffs), nice staff, and we were able to take towels and take a quick dip in the sea beyond the wall.
