We didn't get a chance to stay at this place because our reservation was cancelled by the hotel before we even arrived. They stated there was a power outage.

Beautiful property with breathtaking views and a gracious and responsive staff. The pool is amazing - very large, well maintained and clean (without the use of a lot of chlorine). There are areas on the grounds that are undergoing renovations but that didn't affect our stay (no loud noises, etc.) You will be staying high up in the mountains so, for those who plan to drive their own car, keep in mind that the roads can be very steep and winding (we were told to rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle and were very glad that we did). All in all, a beautiful oasis away from the hustle and bustle of San Juan (about a 20-to-30-minute drive to the beach). We would definitely recommend.

Pictures do not do this place justice. This is a mansion in the jungle. It’s beautiful and it made my heart full. I didn’t want to leave and you won’t either. Make time to spend on the property. Enjoy the pool and the hot tub. Enjoy the nature and the view of the city at night. Gigi, Ricardo and Glory were so kind and welcoming, the best hosts!
Bring bug repellant and lock up your food, this the jungle. There are also cats, who are friendly and living their best life.
We cannot wait to come back!!!

Dianne & Cordell are a absolutely lovely and did everything to make my stay comfortable, easy, and enjoyable.
My room was huge and beautiful, and the view from my patio was magnificent.
The pool was perfect. Loved the hot water outdoor shower.
The Hacienda is the perfect place to get away from it all and relax in a beautiful setting. Truly a unique experience.

This is off the beaten track but great for relaxation. If you are a plant lover you will LOVE THE GROUNDS. So many beautiful plants and you can just wander around like it’s yours own Little paradise. The place feels like a real home. It’s not perfect- it’s over 100 years old but it just adds to the charm and ambience. So many places to
Sit and relax. We loved the hot
Tub. One zip lining, hiking and repelling tour was just 25 minutes away for the meeting point. San Juan was only
About 40 minutes or so. My husband loves driving the mountain roads so it wasn’t an issue but some people may not want to drive. The hosts were really nice to pick up food for us at night from the town Aguas Bueno’s- just 5 minutes away. Diane, Jaylene, Gigi and Cord were all super nice. If you want to feel like you have your own private home in the jungle with a great view- this is a wonderful place to chill. Book readers and plant lovers will be happy as can be!

My flight was canceled due to wind/ weather. And so I could not make it to Puerto Rico. Most flights were canceled , deterred that day. I was not refunded for the hotel. I understand it is not normal policy for cancellations day of to get refunds, but I feel like if your flight is canceled, exceptions should be made. I was really looking forward to this trip and this stay.
But recommend booking somewhere else that might refund your money.

Amazing property with many amenities and history. Diane and her husband are amazimg hosts. The view is amazing, the drive to get there can be a bit hard with many twists and turns, but that's how most roads are in PR. Highly recommend to stay at this place!!

This place is amazing. If you don’t want to be in a touristy area and enjoy history this place is for you. They are still working on it and I can’t wait to come back, hopefully next year and see all the improvements to the property. Cordell, Dianne, Gigi and the kids make you feel at home. The Volunteers are really nice and helpful also. We really enjoyed walking around the acreage. We also got to try some delicious food. We enjoyed staying at the hacienda more than touring the island. The pool and hot tub were awesome. It’s just a very relaxing package all in all. Thanks so much for having us.

Our stay at Hacienda Montana Sonadora was spectacular! Cord and Dianne provide the most amazing hospitality from the day you book until they drop you back off at the airport (this amenity alone...free transportation between the Hacienda and the airport... indicates their desire to strive to accommodate their guests in every way possible). The Hacienda itself has so much history and as they continually work toward renewing it back to its original glory, it will only continue to get even better (although we loved it just the way it is now as they have already restored so much of the property :-) ) When Cord and Dianne cook the evening meal be sure to partake as it is phenomenal!! We can't possibly say enough great things about this Hacienda and the people who call it home (and the volunteers/staff)!!

We had an amazing four nights at the hacienda! The hosts were amazing and attentive to every need, including arranging transportation into town. The hacienda is about 20 minutes outside of town up a steep mountain. If you are looking for peace, quiet and friendly people this is your place. We had he pool and hot pool area almost all to ourselves every day. We spent half the time there and half the time in San Juan exploring the sights. The hacienda has an amazing history and I look forward to visiting it again in the future.

We had the best time during our PR stay. All of the staff were warm and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. It felt like a home away from home. We would highly recommend!

A very unique experience. This is a great getaway if you are looking for tranquility.
Pool, and hot tub was awesome.
Hospitality is the finest that you will find in PR.
Staff was aways available if you need anything.
Owners Diane, and Cord is the best. I do not know how they do it. They are always available, and will do everything possible to make sure you are comfortable, and have everything you need.
Breakfast was great, and i love the coffee.
We did eat there everyday. Food was native island food, and American food.
They made you feel like family!
Gigi was awesome also, and the other staff.
I do go to PR a few times a year, and this was my first experience in the mountains, and i truly needed to unwind, and have some quiet time.
I did get this, and i will carry the memories with me.

We just stayed two nights at HMS and would have stayed longer if were able to make the logistics work. The hacienda is a draw for all travelers; inexperienced travelers (like us) will appreciate the complimentary airport rides, appealing and affordable menu (w/vegetarian options), truly amazing views and scenery, wi-fi/streaming TVs, and genuinely friendly hosts. Experienced travelers will enjoy all of the above, plus the seclusion of being off the beaten path, the place's history, and a distinctly unique location.
To be clear, this is not a cookie-cutter, hotel-type experience - instead it is a countryside retreat, one drenched in palpable history. Instead of just knowing the history (no spoilers here, but it's very interesting (kinda crazy in a good way, actually)), you will "feel" the history. The property still features many original items from when it was built, and you absorb not only a different place, but also a different era. A very unique experience, for sure, and Dianne and Cordell are amazing hosts. Despite our brief stay, we felt at home.
Oh, I forgot to mention - who doesn't love kitties?! The hacienda has outdoor cats as permanent guests. For feline-lovers, it is a special perk. But, if you are not a fan of cats, they stay around the edges of the home and are not at all pests. We loved them! Hi, Mavis!
In summary, Hacienda Montana Sonadora is truly beautiful and unforgettable, and writing this makes me wish we still there. Past and present collide at HMS!

What a lovely stay in a piece of PR history. This hacienda is in the middle of being revamped and brought to life. Nonetheless, it is still very beautiful and the staff and amenities were everything one could need. Waking up to relax by the pool or gaze at the Mountain View everyday was great. The views are breathtaking. Breakfast, lunch and dinner options available everyday and even brought in food from local restaurants and fresh fruit from around their property. The moon sets every night in the middle of the mountains directly in front of the pool/hot tub, which was a simple delight in itself. HIGHLY RECOMMEND USING UBER SERVICES for transport to the city and beaches, which is VERY reasonable in cost. $35 to the surrounding cities/beaches from the hacienda and just a few bucks for short term travels once your in the city. Cell phone service is not horrible but your phone battery will drain faster than you’re probably used to on the island. WiFi available all around the property as well! The sounds of nature singing every night was also very pleasant and relaxing. Diane has a heart of gold and will do anything to accommodate your stay.

They were absolutely wonderful. Diane and Cord were so nice and accommodating. The slice of paradise was so beautiful!! An amazing place to get proposed to and I said yes!!! Could not have asked for a better vacation. The drive up the mountain was a little nervous (our flight came in the middle of the night). Beautiful views

I did not want to leave! Such a lovely, lush and interesting place. The family were wonderful hosts, leaving me feeling so taken care of. Was so relaxing to sit in the hot tub, float in the pool, lounge under the palm trees with a book, or explore all the nooks and crannies of the property.

Diane, Cord and their family were amazing hosts! The space they share with the public was created from a passion to share the history and beauty of the property with others. The property is scenic and beautiful with tons of space. Much to explore and admire. The breakfast had many choices for any kind of tastes. Some of the property is in construction but this did not take away from the charm, beauty and unique experience we had. We highly recommended this space.

Dianne who is an owner with her husband, and the person that welcomed me, as well as Andrew, their employee, were fantastic (friendly, kind and helpful). The house, which is big and magnificent, is a work in progress re. rehabilitation and they have done a lot to it since bought. It has beautiful nature all around and you can see the metropolitan area from up there. The house, however, feels funky and my room was stuffy, had a broken chair and I had to ask them late at night to do something about the mattress because aside from it being very hard, I could feel the spring wires. They took care of that. Dianne provides a very nine big breakfast free and you can order dinner from their paid menu. They recommend driving a 4-wheel because the road to the house is extremely steep!

Went with my daughters toward the end of our “girls only” trip to PR. Loved our stay at the hacienda and hope to come back one day soon! We had to change our reservation to one night from two and that was my only regret. The owners were incredibly welcoming and the on-site staff all as well! We checked in and didn’t leave until check out. I think the hardest part is adjusting to the fact that this is truly a laid back experience and you can actually relax. We stayed for the dinner offered there made in house and it was delicious. Can’t say enough good things about this place & the view is gorgeous! They are in process of renovating (patio area/driveway) so there are some projects not yet completed (reason for four stars in that category) but hope to come back and see the progress. Thank you both for your hospitality and all the welcoming vibes!

We had a great stay! The hosts are amazing and very helpful. Food was also very good. The hacienda is a work in progress and you can see the hosts love this aspect of their work. It would be nice to have more to do in the immediate area, including on the property.

Very peaceful stay at HMS. Service was excellent, Dianne and her husband went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Our room was very spacious and we were very comfortable with our 2 year old son.
