This hotel will try to charge you an additional $100/day. So ignore whatever price is quoted online… it’s way more than that. We arrived around midnight and had our reservations confirmed, so obviously I’m not going to go around looking for a different place to stay. But upon checkin, they informed us they are charging a non refundable $30 PER DAY destination fee. I’m not going to argue with the nice kid at the front desk since I know it’s not his policy. But I’m immediately livid. I feel tricked and cheated. Then if you want to park here, it’s 60-70 dollars per day depending on the size of your vehicle. So yeah, with that plus the “destination fee,” plan on an extra $100 per day on top of the price listed online. No fridge, microwave, or coffee maker in the room. I requested a fridge with the original reservation. They noted that this couldn’t be guaranteed and was based on availability. Of course it wasn’t in my room as I requested several months ago. So I went to the front desk to request it. It was delivered to my room within an hour… so it was obviously available!! They just don’t care enough to read and honor the requests. If you don’t want to pay 60-70 dollars to park, you’ll have to park at a nearby garage or on the street… so be careful. It’s not a nice area, I would have felt unsafe if I had been alone. To be fair, room was a decent size and the employees seemed mostly nice… the crazy surprise fees of the hotel aren’t their fault.

Everything was amazing other than the pillows and bedding smelled musty, like old man.

Didn't clean our room. Some things were a little run down.

Bed is so uncomfortable. Literally left with back pain.

Service was top notch with very friendly front desk staff. The room is quiet (we booked a corner room) and the decor was attractively quirky. Everything worked as it should. Location is exactly where we wanted to be. I wish there were more towel racks and a bidet, but I'm nitpicking. Overall, a very pleasant experience. We will return.

Great, pet friendly, exceptionally fun front desk staff

We had such a lovely time during our stay here. The staff here is exceptional and Karla is definitely a stand out!! Ready with a smile and helpful information about the area. We were warmly greeted, by name, by each of the staff members we encountered. We had a wonderful and roomy suite with an incredible view. I think we spent more time visiting in our suite than hitting the city. It was that wonderful!! Thank you,Karla and staff and of course, The Viscount of Portland! We will be back!

Awesome hotel but city is riddled with drugs. Might be safer to stay outside if downtown area. Shame..the hotel is fabulous and restaurant was good although completely empty.

Inside the property is clean and quiet.

The decor was quirky and delightful. The staff was friendly. The neighborhood was challenging after the sun went down.

The resort fee really feels like a rip off, considering the “spa” wasn’t open one of the days. Also, you have to spend the $15 daily, not cumulatively. Night staff was so much more friendly than the morning staff. Very nice workout facilities, with filtered water. Overall it’s a nice hotel, just weird to have a mandatory fee that can’t really be used.

Excellent Service!

High ceilings, comfortable beds, and a very cool atmosphere in the hotel. The front desk staff was very friendly and made great recommendations for dinner and breakfast in the area. The valets were friendly and recognized us when we were coming and going. We had a great stay and will be back when we visit Portland again! It felt like a very posh stay for us.

The room was decent. The lobby had a distinct smell and was dark. The neighborhood seemed a the little sketchy.

The staff was fantastic! Great location that was very walkable with easy public transportation when needed. We loved the electic hotel decor.

I like this property. This time we did not get the VIP upgrade, last time we did. Hotel was not busy, so I think it was overlooked. I had to check we got the valet discount too. Usually they are more on the ball about awarding or honoring VIP upgrades at this location. They did let us checkin early, that was nice.

The front desk staff was so inviting and friendly, the rooms were exactly as advertised and lovely. Really, really lovely. It's a busy hotel, but my room was quiet .

Could have been cleaned better with more amenities. Mystery sticky substance on doorknob. No shower curtain and barely any towels

Really enjoyed the stay. I got upgraded because of my Expedia status. The room they gave me had an extra room and was designed in style of Only Murders In The Building TV show. I did my research and did use valet parking which was quite expensive. I parked a block away overnight for $10. Also Portland hotels have this $30 fee, and here they give $15 coupon to spend at the hotel lobby. Got myself two beers. Overall very pleasant stay! Wild design which i loved. Recommend

It was very spacious and in a good location. Service was friendly as well, but the room lacked amenities and it felt very large with nothing much in the room itself. It was pet friendly though which is nice.

Place has great character and outstanding staff.

Had the greatest time of my life here! I play in a band, and my band mates were so impressed they didn't try to steal goldfish like we used to do when this place was called Hotel Monaco. (Do they still provide complimentary goldfish to decorate your room? Probably not, but I bet if they did, even our always outrageous and very unruly drummer Gordie would possibly not have tried to beat his record of taking home 28 (and swallowing 3) of these said complimentary goldfish to populate his extraordinarily tacky pool in his backyard. He calls it a Tiki themed bar and backyard pool, but it's a haphazard attempt at Tiki at best. It's the campy 60's style and not the superior 20's one with darker tones that are very much less Gilligan's Island. He can learn a lot from the Mcmenamin brothers. Anywho, great place, with or without the goldfish.)
