I brought my Mum to the Haycock for a birthday present, the service was fantastic we even had dinner which was lovely. The grounds are stunning and staff are extremely attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. Will definitely be returning. The only downside was breakfast, we were left waiting over 50 minutes for eggs royale and it was very quiet without a waiter/waitress to ask for the whereabouts, when we did find someone she apologised but they did loose our ticket with out breakfast order, luckily we weren’t rushing :)

The highlight of the hotel is the food, it is excellent. The hotel is beautiful with excellent design. Some practical things were overlooked for instance it is impossible to sit in front of a mirror to use the hair dryer.

Lovely old hotel with modern designs and furnishing. Rooms in converted outbuuldings across a courtyard. The felt cosy like small houses but a bit small

We had an overnight stay at The Haycock on our way north. We chose this hotel as it was conveniently located just off the A1 in a small picturesque village. The hotel has been beautifully restored to a high standard and the attention to detail in the decor and service during our stay made for a very comfortable visit.
Our meals were delicious and we loved that there were a variety of areas you could eat around the hotel including the beautiful gardens.
We will definitely stay again.

Rooms well appointed. Great shower

Lovely hotel with old and new areas, safe large car park, dog friendly bar and breakfast room, except restaurant. Staff are very friendly and helpful, good food in bar, £6 a pint, other drinks are pricey, as is the breakfast if not included. Jazz playing as background music was tedious to my ears,..

Comfortable suite, comfy bed and sofa. Could have benefited from a side table for tea etc by the sofa.
Despite works still being carried out it did not interfere with our stay.
Beautiful building. Pretty village.

I am reviewing this hotel from an ex hotelier's perspective. I had chosen to attend a Murder/Mystery evening dinner and had booked a double for 2 in the hope that my partner might join me at some point prior to travelling to Leicester the next day.
The booking process of the 2 elements room and event was very disjointed some 14 pieces of communication for a single night stay. Had this been a special occasion surprise for my partner it would have been almost impossible to keep it a secret.
Whilst the welcome and show round on arrival was good, there was still for the 4th time the question of whether I wanted a dinner reservation?
The garden room was charming, however as I pointed out to Reception, the room thermostat was set at 29.5 deg C. Outside was a miserable 8 deg. There was no luggage rack or counterpane on the bed so unpacking was not ideal. Dead flies in the overbed light fitting and lack of a toilet roll holder and a cracked pane of glass in the garden door, plus some unfinished detailing behind the room phone, made it feel despite a full renovation 2 years ago that attention to detail was missing. On the positive, the bed was comfy and the room safe, possibly the best I have used in a hotel setting. Plenty of hangers for clothes.
Cleanliness, the TV remote was not clean and I used 2 packs of screen cleaner to remove dirt and a sticky feel, the drawer housing the tea/coffee elements by its design was also not hygienic.
The event dinner for me was not a su

For work purposes we stay in a lot of hotels across the UK and have noticed a steep decline in standards especially since the pandemic. How refreshing then to find a hotel the exact opposite: friendly, efficient, proactive, motivated staff who go out of their way to help - the receptionist saw we were wandering about looking for our room and came over to take us to our room. We didn't have dinner, but the cooked breakfast was delicious and made with the best ingredients. The final crowning glory was that this was a 24hr hotel with a night porter who could serve drinks - very welcoming as we work in the entertainment business and rarely get back to our hotel before 11pm. The idea of a night porter has virtually disappeared from the industry so how delightful to find a hotel that still has one. With the increased use of PFIs, only concerned with profits, buying up hotels and hotel groups being the main reason for the hotel business loosing its soul - I hope this hotel manages to stay as it is. Note to hotel: you should run a course on how to manage a hotel.

Staff very helpful and all had a wonderful attitude, accommodation opened onto a garden patio, very nice, even in February, food from bar snacks to main meal was excellent, nothing to dislike, it’s a short distance from Peterborough, but a world apart.

Beautiful renovation - lots of great features sympathetically done. Stunning in fact.
I stayed while in the area on business and the room rate reflected the standard of accommodation.
The food, for someone away with work was expensive - my allowance only covered a main meal - the starters and drinks were just too expensive. There wasn't many people dining, so i'm sure that was a factor.
Drop your prices a little and i'd come back, keep them the same and it would be classed as a luxury.

Had a lovely stay, clean and lovely furnishings. Fresh, tasty sandwich and salad. Struggled to find the reception though made worse by me arriving late at night.

Great hotel, great vibe and excellent rooms, would definitely stay again. Our only gripe young waitress on Sunday morning for breakfast was bordering on being rude, we had to ask for everything, not prompt on taking orders, or making our needs were met, maybe she had just started??

It’s a beautiful hotel steeped in history. Had a lovely one night stay, the room was simple but clean and a large television. Lovely bathroom with a large walk in shower.
Very much enjoyed the ambiance in the bar with a large open fire.
We didn’t eat there but wish we had.
Only small comment is it’s not very well sign posted where things are within the hotel but staff were very helpful.
Would definitely stay again and even pop just for a drink in the bar or to dine.

Excellent overnight. Food first class. Garden room recommended. All staff very friendly and cheerful. Delightful village for pre breakfast stroll

Beautiful hotel, every detail thought of. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. Only downside I could see is there is no lift so carrying a suitcase, handbag and laptop bag up a few flights of stairs it a bit of a challenge!

We had a delightful stay at the Haycock manor. The Evelyn room was spacious and elegant and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend a stay here.
