Lovely hotel great service

The room was clean the bed was really comfy and the food and service were excellent.

it was fine- clean and comfortable, well staffed and relaxed.

We always find hotel rooms too hot, so take the duvet out of its cover and just use the cover. After our return at the end of our first full day, my heart sank as I though the housekeeping team had re-bagged it. However, n closer inspection whilst they had done just that, they also gave us another duvet cover so that the duvet could stay covered up. All the toiletries were very nice and refillable large bottles, not the small single use ones. Breakfast was excellent if a little pricey. £16.50 for full English.

Great historic hotel. Friendly staff . No problems.

Comfortable enough. Bed was a small double. Reception was ok, but not terribly interested. Servers for dinner tried hard, but our stay was overshadowed by the wedding taking place.

The room I stayed was good, if a little dated, the Restuarant, bar and lounge are very good, excellent and attentive staff, can’t fault them. Having free parking straight across the road in Bideford is a real bonus. The only downside is infront of the hotel, waste ground and metal fencing.

Over priced for quality and level of service.

A very pleasant stay. Staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. Room was clean and well serviced. Hotel welcomed dog in all areas.

Really lovely welcome, nice and central and great food

I booked a single room in the attic but as the hotel was quiet got an upgrade to a double room with river view. It was fabulous. The bed was so comfy and the bathroom lovely with big fluffy towels. Parking couldn't have been easier - literally across the road. Breakfast was a bit pricey I thought so I didn't bother with that - it would be nice to be able to just get cereal or something light rather than paying for a big buffet. The only other improvement would be fridges in the room.

Staff very helpful pleasant cleanliness excellent

Everything about our visit to The Royal Hotel was excellent. All of the staff we interacted with were happy, smiling and willing to assist. Our room was clean, tidy and very well looked after. The lotions and potions in the bathroom were lovely and they definitely added a feeling of luxury to our ablutions. The public areas were equally well presented and well cared for. Our meal in the restaurant was fabulous, everything was tasty and beautifully cooked. Our only complaint... the portions were too big and neither my wife or I could finish our meals. The size of the portions shouldn't make you think they are filling the plate at the expense of the quality of the food, my Fillet Rossini was truly excellent! So, yes The Royal Hotel definitely deserves 5 stars!

Need to upgrade windows overlooking road due to traffic noise early morning

Hotel building was nice. Room was OK but very dated bathroom but clean, no usb plugs so had to use USB in back of TV to charge phone. Restaurant was deceiving, food was not to the standard the restaurant portrayed. Will stay again but definitely not eat in restaurant.

On arrival we were given an option to upgrade. This we took as the room was bigger and quieter being at the back of the property. However we were notified that there was a kitchen extract fan 2 floors below which would run during the day but would stop about 22:00 hrs. This did not present a problem during our stay. We ate in for the 2 nights. The meal choice was good with with very generous portions. A good location to town without being in the town

Fantastic 3 star hotel with comfortable beds. Friendly staff. Very good food in the restaurant.

Hotel is friendly with good service and check in is quick. Room is a bit tired and there was a random used cotton bud in the bathroom. Breakfast omelette was dire, worst I've ever eaten. 1000c hot and tastes of used oil. Small and definitely poor value. Coffee is always bad at the hotel so I've moved to tea. Probably won't bother with breakfast in future.

Comfortable and aesthetically pleasing old premises with courteous staff and service. Spent first weekend in December there and hit xmas parties which limited evening dining spaces and parking for guests of the hotel.

A lovely and characterful property with a bit of history and beautiful features to show off Rooms are nice and spacious. May need some updating at some point, but perfectly fine

Great hotel, very professional and friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. All clean and tidy. Shower was very weak, bathroom small. It was great for the price I paid (approx £60 including breakfast).

Great view over the river

Wonderful, friendly, attentive (but overly so), and helpful staff. Clean and well maintained. A nice.quiet hotel, ideal for a restful break.
