Staff was excellent and the overall experience was very pleasant. Would rate a 4.8 but not an option. The food choices were limited and average in taste. That is the only reason I would not give a 5.

We stayed in the 1 bedroom oceanfront suite and had the all inclusive package. We really liked the staff, they were always so nice and the service was excellent. The room we had was very nice, it was huge actually (1195sqft). We were actually quite impressed with the food, it was good quality, well prepared and nicely presented. There is currently only two restaurants (and a pizza place and bakery), reservations are required at one of them.) There service at Luciano's was some of the best we have experienced, thanks Francisco!. The pools were nice with daily cleaning and water chemistry maintenance (which was needed as we saw several people never leave the pool for hours at a time while drinking, not the resorts fault, come on. adults should know better!!) The pool bar and Mirador restaurant also had very good food, I was not expecting much from it but was pleasantly surprised. The staff there (Jorge, Christopher, Alan, Jose, Miguel and Fernando to name a few) were always friendly and providing excellent service. Raul (aka Pancho) was always there smiling and providing fun activities, towels etc. for the guests. There is some noise due to the expansion of the hotel but it wasn't terrible. There is also a ventilation fan on top of Luciano's (?) that starts up late afternoon and is somewhat annoying, at least it was on the 5th floor balcony when trying to relax or talk, ground level it was barely noticeable.

The staff is awesome very helpful. Thank you again for a great vacation. Food was good and drinks were great. Nice views of the ocean. This place is more for couples they are all lifestyle place which is fine. If you are looking for a party not the place to be. But overall had a great time there.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the property. Everything was clean all the time the stand for excellent and took care of our every need. And the dining options were varied and the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend the property.

The pools were great. Centrally located was convenient to the center. Beach and restaurants were clean. They had very poor housekeeping and butler service was non existent. The loud disco music at the pools was all day long. Not a relaxing atmosphere

We had excellent service - the housekeeping in the room was very good. The food was among the best we have had at an all-inclusive resort. Construction was going on to add additional rooms to the property, but it didn't bother us much. The wait staff at the restaurants was excellent.

The food was terrible. As a vip customer I expected better quality and bigger variety. The breakfast was horrible. Uncooked omelet and small portions.
The waiters expected me to tip them out all the time.
About the cleaning service they are coming into your room after 12:00 and that makes you feel uncomfortable because you can’t relax into your room.
This hotel doesn’t look like all inclusive but it looks more like a la carte

My ONLY gripe is last time I went July 19-20th 2024 I requested my VIP upgrade and was told they NEVER do that only higher floor which is UNTRUE because I have received it before. and it was available because she offered it with for an additional $80 per night....
Outside of that Sunset Plaza is my FAVE place to stay in PVR ! I've seen and been to others BUT there service is unmatched! Every person I bring there wants to return & I've been 5x and counting! Maybe they will honor next time...

Went there for 4 days to celebrate our anniversary and we quite enjoyed our stay. Shoutout to Ruben for making our stay unforgettable, he is really nice and welcomed us since the first day. Food is ok, they can make more options on food. Ronaldo, Richard ( Luciano ) from the restaurant are very nice as well. Thank you all. We will definitely come back when the side of the resort is finished.

We enjoyed the property as it was quiet and at times it felt like we were the only ones there. The staff was very helpful. There were a few thing that they said they would do like put candy in our room every night as well as spray a scent and turn down our sheets and they didn’t. Other than that it was fantastic.

This property had the potential to be great. However, there is construction still going on which creates loud noises in the morning and ruins the view. The location is amazing, the property itself is just not 4 star hotel level. The room was underwhelming, not clean and very old looking. The bathroom and the balcony were only the decent parts of the room.
Food was terrible, most of it was inedible. We had to go out and eat outside food for how terrible the food was. For an all inclusive hotel it is pretty disappointing, I would rather spend another $500 to get better quality. I just relied on the good reviews and the location which I recommend not doing unless you are okay with a hotel that is not 4 stars. For the price, I do expect a little better quality.

Amazing staff. All very polite and helpfulb and friendly. All rooms has a view of the ocean. The ocean is right there next to the endless pool. Beautiful area.

The place was really nice, people there are really friendly and make you feel welcome all the time. The 24/7 restaurant people are really friendly the morning lady called Yolanda and at night the señora Rosa. I would like for the restaurant to have more variety and even a buffet day with mexican food since we are in mexico.

Our room was an adjoining room and the next door was having a noisy party and playing Tv round all night, so it was hard to sleep well.
We had to call security three times.
Other than that, the service was good and location was great.

I liked the pool area, beach right off the property. The staff was excellent! Everyone was polite, friendly and helpful. I did not like that the shower drain was backed up upon arrival and there was a smell such as mold/mildew. Also next to our room was this “noise.” I can only describe as doors or something ajar and it was like every 5-10 minutes. I mostly heard it at night. Didn’t get good sleep. During the day it’s there but not as noticeable because the tv was on.

Over all this is a good value for the price. Located right on the beach, every room has an ocean view, nice pool, attentive staff, generally clean (although it was hard to keep sand out of my room's floor). The plumbing is not the best (slow shoer drain, malfunctioning toilet flush, etc.), but that's common in slightly older hotels. One big issue is the quality of the food. There are 2 main restaurants and a pizza place. Other than breakfast, which was fine the 2 meals I had in the restaurants were of poor quality, so I ate out the rest of my stay (there are some excellent restaurants in Puerto). Perhaps that's what you get for that price. However the drinks are free with the deal, so that can be important.
This is a great place for families with kids.
Taxis are more expensive at the hotel than elsewhere in the city, so consider Uber if on a budget.

The room was in poor condition, the vent in the bathroom was falling off the wall, the property was not wheelchair friendly, the Path to the beach and all the restaurants you have to go down a steep incline and it’s very hard with a wheelchair to go up and down, also the excursion Coordinator should advise guest that none of the excursions they offer are Wheelchair friendly. The Rooms advertised on your website are not the rooms that are being booked. The rooms that they are advertising are for the new expansion that is not being built.
The only good thing about this trip was the staff ( The butlers, food Servers ) were extremely friendly and helpful and provided excellent service.

My wife and I came for our delayed honeymoon and truly could not have asked for a better experience! The warm welcome to the friendly goodbye, the staff at Sunset Plaza do everything they can to make your stay exceptional!
Would recommend to anyone, young looking for fun or with a family looking to relax, you will not find a more hospitable stay in all of Mexico!

The property is clean, food great, staffs are great. Only thing is constructions around the hotel. Some parts were closed off and somewhat noisy.

It shuts down pretty early. They say the pool hours are until 10pm but they are picking up everything by 8pm.
Hotel is for those that want to sleep early.
