Room was small but adequate, but the amazing views from both windows certainly made up for it.
Room was not dirty but lots of old cobwebs hanging from ceiling and fluffy dust on lights.
Beds were a bit uncomfortable due to thin mattresses (maybe time to replace with better quality). Bathroom was clean but a little cramped.
But ........ Despite the somewhat negative comments, we will definitely return to this hotel as we really enjoyed our stay.
The stay was made all the better for the attentiveness of the staff who were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
Highly recommend.

The staff were friendly and helpful but the bathroom was in a very bad condition. The towels and bedding was all clean but the hotel has definitely seen better days.

Check-in was fine. We were booked on a B&B basis via Expedia . This was confirmed on check-in but was later challenged by the second receptionist . Expedia had not confirmed the breakfast option. All was ok in the end.
The hotel was well located and such an easy walk to the seafront or into the main town. A basic room with all that we needed for our two night stay. I would stay again for the location.

This hotel is a little tired and date, the rooms could do with being refurbished and having new furniture but I do love the location, views and ease of parking.

Disgusting substandard room, ceiling water damaged and coming down, bath panel hanging off, wardrobe falling apart, table leg held together with masking tape, room smelling, nothing like photos, refused room, assistant manager victoria after contacting manager jo promised us a refund if we were not satisfied with room if we did not stay, which we did, 3 days later money has been taken from account, it shows you what sort of people are in charge of this run down building

Me and my daughter stayed for 1 night, it’s overall a really nice hotel to stay at if your in Scarborough. The only thing we didn’t like was the walk from Scarborough seafront to the hotel, its a little to much for a 3yr olds little legs and didn’t realise you could walk over the bridge to get esplanade’s so unfortunately took the long way around. But other than that the overall stay was great staff was really friendly and you get what you pay for.

All good. Very happy with my stay. Cgeck in quick and easy. Late checkout discussed and happy with the 12 oclock offer.
Comfortable hotel.
Bathroom could do with an update but it was fine for a quick one night stop over.
Brilliant sea view. Friendly staff.

Love the location of the hotel and the view. Was disappointed to find no hairdryer in the room and furniture definitely needs updating, but despite that, very clean and comfortable.

All the staff were very helpful, especially the manager Ryan (I think his name was) nothing was too much trouble

The hotel seems very dated, quite shabby in parts. Really good location and would be fabulous if the hotel was up to standard. Beds very comfortable but the wooden window frames were rickety and shabby. Old bathroom too with very dated decor. The bedroom furniture had seen better days too. The reception staff were very friendly though which made our introduction to the hotel very nice. With an update this hotel could be one of the best in Scarborough. Fabulous views!

Property in a great location, just our room needs a lot of TLC. Mattress’s in twin room we’re of very poor quality lumps and squeaky on both beds,Bathroom shabby bath panel cracked and spli.bath itself badly stained. Window had no paint on sill ( and hadn’t seen any for a long period. . Shame really as it could be made into a superb room.

No room available. Service was a joke and lots of people in the same boat. Shambles. Attitude of staff was appalling.

Good location and nice walk down into town through park. The staff worked really hard and we enjoyed our stay.

We have stayed here before but we were in the sea facing room, it was lovely. The room we stayed in this time was on street but still had everything you needed.

The room was appalling for a price of £105 per night it was not worth even half that. The bath was filthy with lime stains from the continual dripping tap . The toilet would not flush had to keep using the kettle to fill up the cistern .

The only flaw in our stay was the scaffolding around the hotel made our sea view a rather unsightly one..But room Although dated was very clean and comfortable...Breakfast was plenty of choices and our stay was pleasant and relaxing 😌

Nice place to stay, great location, good views.we managed to get a parking spot but beware you could end up about 1/2 mile away as others found out.I felt breakfast was bit late,8.45 to 9.50 when you had to check out by 10.00.bar and entertainment was good but the staff need to cheer up a bit and be a big more happier like the lady serving breakfast!!

Very basic greeting. Information regards hotel limited. Breakfast served for only 45 mins. Only one person taking order, preparing coffee and toast and orange juice along with a warmish breakfast each day (we skipped our last day, just not worth the hassle) one other staff member came after half hour but the wait was so long. No organisation at all. Dinner was 6 till 7pm rather early so we went out instead. Quite a nice hotel but needs better customer service.

Very tired and dated hotel that caters for budget coach trips. Decor was tired and like something out of an old folkes home. The rooms had old, mismatched and cheap furniture straight out of the 70s. No fridge, not even an ironingboard (we asked!) Bathroom was poor and the water pressure for the shower was non-existent. It was a trickle rather than a shower. Food was average and uninspiring and the staff, whilst pleasant enough were clearly overworked and underpaid.
Its all so tragic as the place just needs some money spending on it to bring it kicking and screaming into the 21st century, at which point it could be really nice but until then we wontbe going back!

The hotel has a nice location but could do with some updating to make it really pleasant for visitors. Staff were helpful. Onsite parking is limited for the size of the hotel, there is a large council car park about a five minute walk away. Breakfast was good and comprehensive. Good location in terms of exploring Scarborough on foot and in a quieter part of the town.

Clean room to stay in. Near the South Bay but up the hill. The hotel is very geared towards coach trips and very dated. Staff on reception were not very welcoming/helpful. Breakfast was okay - ladies here were lovely. In need of updating. Carpark was small but we managed to get a space. I believe there was road parking also.

The hotel was really nice, very clean and comfortable and the staff all friendly and helpful. Parking is very limited, but there is a pay and display close by if no street parking can be found. Overall very nice and would happily return

Downstairs was great. We weren’t told what time breakfast was but a quick ask did the trick. Bar is great however the rooms are very dated. My mums looked like it had a kick of paint. Ours was cracked paintwork. The door had a screw where part of the bolt was off and there was a stain on the floor. It would look stunning if it was done up. We had 2 double sea view rooms. One was great ours you had to peek round the corner to see it. The bath had to be filled from the shower as you couldn’t change it but the shower itself was very powerful. Mixed bag really and with a bit of tlc could look amazing

Great location, our room was a bit dated but clean and comfy beds. It looks like they are in process of doing it up so would definitely return. Staff very friendly and lovely outside patio seating area

Disappointed generally. We were told nothing about breakfast timings and procedures. There was no information in room either. We went for breakfast at 7.15 only to be told it was at 7.45 and when we went again we were told as we weren’t on Daish’s coaches our breakfast was at 8.30. I complained about this so was allowed to eat in a corner. We had to ask for milk and was given a very small jug for cereals. Had to ask for more and then had to ask for more again for the coffee. Then our breakfast came, the egg was like rubber and yolk less. Rest was chucked around plates. Then we had to ask for butter for toast. Rubbish experience all told. The room was a bit dingy and needs updating but that’s like most Scarborough hotels really.

Chose hotel for location and great view over Scarborough and harbour. Car park small - could get blocked in. Threadbare treads on stairs, other public areas well maintained; good social distancing measures.
Had requested sea view, but 3rd floor room was at back with view over street. Was hot so a sash window was dangerously wedged open with a block of wood. Bed was clean and comfortable. Rest of furniture - unfashionably distressed – from 70s; very tatty; wardrobe door hinge broken. Had to dust inside drawers before we could use them. No hairdryer. Asked 3 TIMES at reception. Different excuses: “they are kept down here – will send one up; there should be one in drawer (had I looked?);housekeeping said it’s in the drawer”. On last day, lady checking room kindly went to fetch one. Poor communication on reception.
In contrast, housekeeping and restaurant staff efficient and friendly. Great view from restaurant; had a prime table for dinner. Food was fine, inexpensive -unlike the bar prices. Whereas I don’t mind child portions, my husband prefers more on his plate.
Fortunately, we weren’t napping as I heard a buzzing sound, opened our door to listen, unsure if it was a fire alarm. Was louder on lower floors. False alarm, but there were no checks done to ensure everyone was outside. A MAJOR safety concern.
I do not find fault all the time;usually let the odd thing slide, but too many negatives to ignore. Hence we will not stay here again or recommend it to others.

the best thing was the view from our room
the bad points were parking such a big hotel and only 14 car park spaces
the breakfast was down in the ball room not in the conservatory as shown on the website
the breakfast wasnt very good the first day coffee was like water improved th next day starter came as same time as the full english

Lovely spacious room with sea view. Hotel was organised to take Covid into account (sanitisers, distancing etc) and room was clean and comfortable.

Had a death in family and had to return to America. Am sure we would have enjoyed ourselves had we been able to stay. I realize these reviews are automated, but this is the second one we have gotten which we were not able to enjoy. Please do not send anymore.. VRBO worked very well for our trip to UK. thank you!
