Not having someone on reception after 10 and taking a hour trying to get someone to help

it was freezing cold the floor in the bathroom was coming up the bath had no plug the shower wasn’t connected to anything the bed sheets felt like kitchen roll room size was also small due to being pregnant we left at 9pm not staying the night as we felt it was unsafe and unhygienic.

When I got to the hotel, the code didn’t work to get in the main door so I called the hotel & they told me that me & my partner couldn’t get in to the hotel because there had been a problem. The hotel said I should get my refund & no cancellation fee’s because it wasn’t my fault I couldn’t get in to my room I booked.

The toilet had a bath but nothing to wash your hair nor shower hoose or even a bucket

Whilst travelling down to skegness I got a phone call to say the hotel cancelled my booking and for me to cancel on booking.com and I'd get a refund. When I tried to do so I was then told my booking wasn't cancelled and I should have stayed at the hotel. I had booked somewhere else (as I'd been told they couldn't keep my booking) but they refuse my refund despite having proof that they cancelled, not me and they promised a refund... did I say the reason I was going to skegness was to attend a family funeral. I ended up trying to book alternative accommodation whilst in the car park at the crematorium instead of spending time with family

My initial impression was good the lady provided me with a mobile number as we were travelling from Ireland to a funeral which I found helpful as we had a dreadful journey. The Towels were clean, there were toiletries, tea/coffee provided.

I booked 2 separate nights and have offered a refund on the second night we chose not to stay as needed to get some sleep. However I have realised my review has been removed, the room was unclean the bed very uncomfortable, the sheets torn, no shower in the room, or breakfast offered due to a technical issue not even a continental, Whilst offered a refund on 1 night I think it is unfair the review has been removed, as this simply was a dreadful experience. I felt the need to lift all my luggage off the floor, as there was no wardrobe to store my things in or even a place to hang up a coat. We were told it was end of season and the hotel was closing down, there were not really any staff to hand. A grieving lady asked for a cup of coffee and was told no, as no milk available. No hairdryer, side table on both sides of the bed.

Non of the showers worked between the 4 rooms we had booked, either stone cold, or no water coming out at all, another room the shower head would not stay up so had to hold it whist having a shower. Also one of our rooms was cancelled on us at 5pm! Apparently there was a electrical fault, was not offered and alternative, even though we were certain they had other rooms. We were attending a funeral, so we then had to try and find accommodation late at night, as we had traveled far to be here. Lastly as part of the package we were meant to have breakfast included, when we arrived we were told this would not be available, they did inform there were plenty of other places to have breakfast, even though it should have been included. However judging by our overall experience they probably did us a favour.
