Unfortunately the power outages effected our stay

Lovely rustic manor house converted to a BnB. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The interiors have been done up beautifully too.

This was the only accommodation in which we experienced load shedding during our 10 day trip to South Africa. They have yet to make arrangements for inverters / generators. The staff did say that it will be sorted out soon, however it was inconvenient to come back after a long day out to 4 hour power cuts! Suggest to atleast install rechargeable bulbs because the candles provided makes the room feel quite warm!

It would be the most sensational place to stay if the house had just a slight improvement on the internal maintenance.

Beautifull old home. Great attention to detail. We liked the extra facilities: playing a little golf (pitch range), watching a dvd, getting a drink at the pool. Very nice staff.

We had an amazing stay at Parkes Manor. Jan Hendrik Made us feel very welcome! Service, rooms, breakfast, helping us with transport, everything was perfect. We stayed at newyears eve and there was a bottle of champagne for us in the fridge. Definitely recommend this hotel to everyone!

This hotel is located in an old mansion, and it felt like we were staying in a piece of living history. The period details were stunning! We stayed in one of the Suites with a Lagoon View and I can’t recommend it enough. Our room was on the second floor with a huge wraparound balcony (connecting to all the other rooms on the floor but with a small fence separating each) and a gorgeous view of the Knysna waterfront. In addition to a spacious room with a view, the bathroom was also amazing. The rain shower was by far the best of the trip, and I wish we’d had a chance to have a bath in the clawfoot tub. We loved wandering around the hotel and grounds, just taking everything in. At night, there is a little bar in a room off the hotel’s foyer and it was so cool to enjoy a drink while looking at old black-and-white photos of the family who used to live in the house. I also really enjoyed our breakfast, which is served in another gorgeous room with carved ceilings and an old fireplace, and which includes both a cold buffet and a made-to-order hot meal.

The only slight con when it comes to this hotel is that it is located in more of a residential neighborhood. It is still only minutes from everything, but it does mean that you will need to drive to dinner rather than walk. Not a problem at all but just something I wanted to note!

Albert the GM was so personable. the property is gorgeously Victorian, clearly echoing that of its former days of a Manor House to the Parkes family. they made it incredibly special for us on our honeymoon and can’t wait to visit again!

We have travelled to Knysna for the past 11 years and this the best place we have stayed. This place has classical elegance with beautifully maintained gardens.

Having to leave

Exceptional stay- from the fantastic staff and hosts to the wonderful room and beautiful property, the attention to detail was fantastic and our stay was perfect.

I loved everything about Parkes Manor. The warm welcome at arrival, the small touches in making our room cozy, lovely garden and easy access to all amenities.

Early morning traffic noise. However we did have all our windows open.

Very nice location, lovely garden and pool area, warm and welcoming staff, and the rooms were spacious and comfortable. Everything was really spotless and the breakfast was amazing!
