Enjoy Slow Pace Cottage

What stands out about this property is that Belinda has really made an effort to prepare for any visitor. Charging stations, umbrellas, walking sticks, bug spray, extra linens everywhere, books, games, both pod and ground coffee, night lights, notes attached to things. It's really unlikely you'll show up to this property and wish you had brought that thing you always forget when you travel. By far the most ready-to-live-here place I've ever stayed.
If you're planning to book this place, be aware that it's a small house with old pipes and no bathtub. Getting the shower temp correct is tricky. This wasn't a big deal to us, but I don't want you to be surprised.
Location is great. We walked into town every day. Lovely front porch and large covered area in the back yard for relaxing. We didn't bring a pet, but one would have a great time here. Belinda responds quickly to messages. Just an all-around great place to stay if you're looking for something simple. We'll be back.

Needed a place to stay over Thanksgiving since my relatives didn't have enough room in their own house. Slow Pace cottage was perfect for us - comfortable, all the things we needed, dog-friendly. I would stay here again.

We loved our stay at Slow Pace in Black Mountain NC. The location is great, close to town and hiking trials. The house was perfect for us and our dog. The yard is fenced and our husky loved running around in it. In addition to the 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom cottage there is a very large outdoor covered space. We spent many hours there, reading, drinking tea, grilling and eating dinner. We also appreciated the many thoughtful extras inside the house such as the nightlights and the well equipped kitchen. Belinda was quick to respond to any questions or concerns by text. We would definitely stay there again!

Wonderful home. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. Very clean. Owner provided amenities in case something was forgotten. Location perfect for activities in Black Mountain, Montreat and Asheville.

This property was perfect for me, my 2 sons, & my 8 year old grandson! The location was ideal, furnishings were cozy & warm, a well stocked kitchen IF I wanted to cook, the huge fenced backyard (for my standard poodle to run & play), a fire pit, large covered patio with a grill & ample seating, homey front porch for neighborhood watching, comfortable beds, plenty of linens on hand, AND the home was all decorated for the Christmas holidays. I only regret that we weren’t able to stay longer due to obligations that allowed just a 2 night stay. I highly recommend this home in Black Mountain.

Great Cottage
We absolutely loved this cottage. Location was great and it is a fabulous place to stay with your fur baby. Great, very large fenced yard. House has everything you need and is so cutely decorated.

Great location and great with dogs.
My husband and I wanted to explore the area for possible future retirement. The home is close to the highway and downtown Asheville. Very cozy and comfortable and fully equipped kitchen for preparing meals. Love the fenced-in back yard for the dogs as well as the patio and fire pit. General store next door is convenient if you need anything. Thanks Belinda for your hospitality!

Like Your Grandmothers house
Cute little 1930s bungalow. Bed was comfortable. Linens and towels were good quality. The house is situated at the fork of 2 busy roads which made sitting outside noisy. Inside with the doors closed very little noise. Traffic died down around 9pm.
Close walk to town. The country store next door is very convenient. We had no communication with the property manager so I can’t rate that.

Amazing place/host
Slow pace cottage
Belinda’s place was perfect for my husband and I, our 13 month old and our two large dogs. It was so comfy and cozy and was even nicer in person. Belinda’s hospitality was unmatched and she has the house stocked with everything we could have needed including toys, books, puzzles and a high chair. We loved the large fenced backyard and covered outdoor area with fire pit. We enjoyed a fire nightly rain or shine. The store next door was very convenient and we were able to grab some local craft beers to enjoy by the fire. We loved being able to walk to delicious restaurants, breweries, shops and a park with a splash pad. Catabwa Falls was also a short drive away and was beautiful. We love this cottage and Black Mountain and can’t wait to come back! Did we forget to mention that we love Belinda?!

Relaxing comfortable getaway!
We were so happy with this property! The decor was super cute and clean. The owners went above and beyond leaving a full bowl of water for our pup and a bottle of wine for us! It also had other necessities like shampoo+conditioner. The store next door also came in handy. We (especially our dog) enjoyed the large fenced yard with beautiful big old trees and a covered seating area with a fire pit and lovely lighting! Loved it!

Great location and property - good for pets too
The property is well maintained and as pictured (actually better) with good amenities and décor. We liked that all one level, fenced yard, and the convenience store next door came in handy. Location great to town (about 15 min walk) Games, books, and Netflix made a full day of rain more tolerable. Will defininately be back!

Owners are super
We encountered some beginning of the season plumbing issues, the owners were super fast to get help there and it was all fixed by the time we got back for the day. Should not be an issue until the future, just saying that if there is something wrong the owners are really responsive. The back yard is HUGE and we LOVED being able to have a bonfire even when it rained. Close enough to town that you could walk, very much in a busy neighborhood next door to a very nice little convenience store. We enjoyed our stay!

We love coming to Black Mountain and Montreat . This is our fourth time staying at Slow Pace. It is the best! This sweet cottage is in a very convenient location, has a large fenced yard for our dogs to enjoy, and has all the creature comforts we need to really relax. There are plenty of towels and blankets, the kitchen is well appointed, and the outdoor gathering space is perfect for evening campfires, games, etc. Belinda, the owner, is always very quick to respond and super thoughtful, too. Great stay as always!
We’ve been coming to Slow Pace for several years during Thanksgiving and we’ve never been disappointed. The location is fantastic, easy walk into town, and the house is cozy with all the amenities we need (including a washer and dryer that were recently installed)! The backyard space is fantastic, fenced-in space with a large patio and hammock swings. They also provide fire wood and a fire pit for cold nights. Wonderful outdoor gathering space. I would highly recommend Slow Pace.

Wonderful cottage in a quaint small town
This property was a perfect get-a-way for my family and I. It was located in a beautiful setting with easy access to a small town and amenities. It also allowed visitors to be close to a large town (Asheville) and many outdoor recreation areas (state parks with trails and waterfalls.

Charming cottage with amazing fenced yard
Great mountain getaway with our dog. Able to do plenty of "urban hiking" as the property makes the historic area of downtown easily accessible. Also enjoyed Walking to Lake Tomahawk and the charming neighborhoods in between. Lots of restaurants and shopping to choose from. Masks and social distancing made most things possible with security. Public restrooms are closed due to Covid-19 so plan accordingly if you wish to hike trails around Montreat. Owners have made this property very homey and extremely young-family friendly! The fenced in yard and covered area was fabulous for us and our pup.

Our Holiday in Black Mountain
My husband, dog, and I went to Black Mountain for some R & R. It was a good location for activities and some peace and quiet.
The well-supplied kitchen allowed me the freedom to cook meals, which is my pleasure. All accommodations were as described online. My dog enjoyed romping in the large backyard.

Black mountain was the perfect town to stay in. Had great food and fun bars. Easy Uber ride to Asheville. House was perfect size for 2 couples. Back yard was excellent for dogs and the covered porch was relaxing with a view of the mountains. Would stay again.

The owner has seriously thought of everything! I had forgotten my flat iron and was googling the nearest Wal-mart when my husband found one under the sink. Perfect location and hope to return again next year.

Great Weekend
We had a great time at Slow Pace Cottage. Check in was a breeze when we arrived Friday afternoon and the house had everything we needed for the weekend. Belinda and the staff at the store were friendly and helpful with all of our questions.
We enjoyed being close enought that we were able to walk downtown and to the park with our dogs. The outdoor space at the cottage was perfect. We used the firepit both evenings and the dogs had plenty of space to chase squirrels.
Everyone we met was gracious and friendly, and there were lots of other dogs around. Black Mountain proved to be a true dog-friendly town. We definitely plan to return!
