This hotel is so underrated on booking and on google, and I don’t really understand why.
I was terrified of going with my toddler, because of these reviews, and they are totally unfounded.
The bathroom - was pristine, and I am really particular about bathrooms in hotels. Photo attached to my review. 10 for cleanliness.
Parking space - There are more than enough parking spaces on the premises.
The room - it was cleaned every day, towels changed as well, toilet paper and toiletries were more than enough. There is a mini fridge in the room, with no freezer part in it, but it does an okay-ish job of cooling water bottles. The AC worked perfectly the entire time, which I appreciate a lot.
There are very few (i.e. little to no) mosquitoes around, I have a blood type which mosquitoes really like, so I don’t really get away without being bitten, anywhere I go.
Reception personnel - are super nice and they do their best to communicate in English. I very much appreciated the fact that right at check-in they were honest about their beach, the hotel’s beach, and said theirs is terrible and very small (true) and we are welcome to use the next door hotel’s beach (Cabacum). We ended up driving downtown anyway to the promenade beach which is way smoother to enter the water, and the sand is smoother as well, also less waves than in other parts at the same moment in time, probably because it’s the most protected (by the two piers to the left and right).
A lovely and thoughtful touch are the double drapes, the outer drape made of some sort of plastic like material which doesn’t let the heat through, and the inner drape made of some sort of silk-like material which keeps everything cool.
The botanical garden is actually very lovely and so welcome because it keeps everything cooler than in town.
Don’t count on the playground, it’s a relic from the 80’s, but we had no expectations there so all is well.
Make sure to read the good parts, the bad are negligible!!
Food/Half-board - I don’t necessarily recommend, for one because “buffet” means you cannot pick your own piece of food but instead get served whatever the servers want (who don’t speak a word of English or any other language), and secondly because it’s not varied, or very little so, some mornings the omelette was almost raw, with raw yolk flowing freely all around, the menemen they had one morning had completely raw eggs in it, some mornings some of the hot dogs were very obviously left over from yesterday and thrown on top of the bunch (they were grey!).
No playground, but I wasn't necessarily disappointed as I had no expectations that it would be usable.

Съотношение цена качество не отговаря. Беше чисто но обстановката е като на походни легла. Абсолютно не ни покри очакванията

Pool:
the small swimming pool is nice, if you just want to lay for the siesta. Unfortunately in Bulgaria anyone can smoke, wherever they want. At the bar, you can take a simple drink, if you have cash with you. You cannot put it on the room_
Food, restaurant:
whether breakfast or dinner, you will have to go to the desk and ask for your food. You are not allowed to take your portions. The name of the dishes is written, in Bulgarian. Foreigners are forced to use online translators or to ask the waiters (who are very kind and try to explain to you the various Bulgarian dishes). the temperature of the food is rather cold (soup or grilled dishes as well). The Bulgarian salads are very tasty.
Drinks: you can take from the tap, what you would like: vine (red, white or rosa), beer (unknown pilsner) or soda. For breakfast, you can choose coffee from the machine (more like black water, not an espresso), or guess what kind of tea bag you have in front of you (no individual packing or labeling available).
General:
the hotel is a remanence of old socialist luxury, showing the standards of the 1970s. It remained at that level. You can see at the stairs, where the old red carpet was, or you can feel on the floor, where the original pavement underneath the carpet floor is broken. The best part: cleaning; all staff members are really doing their best to keep the hotel in a clean status.
Lobby:
the clerks are very friendly, but they have limited resources to solve any issue: e.g. you can use a billiard table if you can buy a coin from the receptionist. If they have no more coins (weekend is coming), you cannot buy it, and cannot play. In the lobby bar you can drink coffee (simple black from the machine, no fancy cappuccino, nor latte, nor any other type; maybe some milk, if you insist).
Rooms:
very spartan. Furniture is outdated, TV is from the last century. The refrigerator is very noisy. At least you have an air conditioner 😊 and a mosquito net on the terrace door.
Bathroom:
“all in one” type: if you use the shower, the toilet gets wet from the outside as well. No place to put your things (only a small shelf at the mirror). The smell of the drain/sinkhole is not handled properly.
Beach:
forget it. The hotel beach is not useable, and very dangerous to go down the broken stairs. The sea there has a rock bed, so you better go 200 meters to the city’s beach, where you have normal sand bed.

The food was very good, great pool - clean and big, a lot of green space, very nice staff, free parking.
The beach is very small, but the main disadvantage: the stones in the sea, very difficult to get in and out of the water, a lot of sea weeds on the beach that were never cleaned. There is no investment there.
The same for the botanical garden / the hotel yard: no investment.

Everything was absolutely perfect ☺️

Pool, beach, garden, free parking, bar.
At all, there was a good price for all the stuffs.
Food has always a poor quality.
At one of the dinner's almost all of the food has a bad taste that could endanger our health.
Sometimes, breakfast looks recycled from dinner.
At checkout I was taxed for drinks I didn't ordered.

Nothing!!!
Rooms and furniture are Old. Matreses stained and old. No queen bad, only 2 single beds.Very poor and cheap food. We were forced to eat somewhere eles. Biggest mistake to stay there with an 1 yo baby and that Kind of food and conditions. Also the baby crib had no matress and was broken. Everything around în the hotel was abandoned. Hotel next door under construction. Small beach full on rock in the water so difficult to swim close. My grandmothers TV in room...like first model of color tv. At dinner no tea or coffe, only for breakfast. Swiming pool very small also the rooms small ,nothing at all like in pictures. Spend money more like at 5* hotel! Shame !Big No!

The food. The salads were warm. The main dishes were cold and not tasty at all. The quality ot the food was very bad . Also the first 3 days we did not have hot water in the afternoon after returning from the beach and it was fixed after our complaints.

Good food, in the evening you could serve a glass of wine / beer. Excellent location, a very beautiful beach 7-8 minutes walk.
The TV didn't work, but it wasn't a real problem

Sea was nice.
Bed was destroyed

The cleanliness was impressive, the food was tasty and nutritious. The location is exceptional.
The staff in the restaurant wasn’t welcoming, most of them with some few exceptions were showing negative attitude towards the guests, in some cases rudeness. They looked like being forced to do the work. It made us feel quite uncomfortable and unwelcome.
3.5
Shower was okay, however sometimes it happened that hot water wasn't working as it should. After whole day at the beach I think people deserve proper shower.
The rooms looked very old, beds were really old, sometimes there was no electricity, rooms need reconstruction. Food options for breakfast were everyday the same, for dinner at least there was some diversity. The only good thing was location close to public beach and to Golden Sands few stops by bus. Pool outside was nice. It's set into natural botanical garden, however somehow whole area needs reconstruction & more maintenance.
3.5
The staff is nice, the food is good and the location is great. The beach is very close to the accommodation and there are lots of shops and restaurants around which make it very convenient.

As our second stay at IHJ it was visible good management and progress in resort`s development.
Feel at home in the middle of superb garden.
All appreciation to Desk, Kitchen, Cleaning staff.
15 nights stay this time and 21 nights first time gave us time to appreciate good work.
Thank you!
Recommend to check & fix cable network.
