No siempre me llamaron Deziree.
Ven y exploremos Chania juntos.

We loved our stay and our host, Maria, was great! Our ferry into Crete was delayed so we arrived after 10:00 PM and there was a warm meal waiting on our arrival!! Communication was easy and the neighborhood was right near the venetian harbor - a fun and beautiful area to explore. Would 100% recommend!

Fantastic location for a stress free holiday for those who prefer not to drive whilst on holiday. A lovely quiet, safe neighbourhood within a few minutes walk of historical buildings, a huge variety of charming shops (including city shopping). The food was amazing, so much variety and very high quality with very memorable views and settings by the beautiful Venetian harbour. A couple of beaches close by and plenty of opportunity to have walks by the sea. So many cafes and restaurants to have a drink/lunch and laze away the afternoon. We enjoyed a charming carriage ride around Chania, as a huge animal lover it was lovely to see how well the horses are cared for by their proud owners and we wanted to support this. Our house felt like home for our 1 week stay, immaculately clean, brilliant use of space and beautiful interior decor. Maria and her husband were so helpful and a very tasty home cooked meal was much appreciated after a long day travelling. Brilliant !!

The house was amazing and beautiful. The location made it very easy to get to town, to food, and to the ocean. The owner was incredibly kind and thoughtful, she had homemade meals ready for my friend and I when we arrived because our plane got in late. Will hopefully be going back again!

Deziree is centrally located in Old Town, perfectly positioned to stroll to the many restaurants. Maria goes above in her communication and to help where she can. We can not speak highly enough of Maria, although we didn’t get the chance to meet in person. The accommodation is exactly as shown and is beautifully decorated. It was a little cosy with 4 adults in the living area, but did not cause us an issue. All the extra touches make you feel special. Make sure you go the recommendations in Maria’s guide book that she has has supplied. As mentioned by other guests, it has three levels, and is an effort to carry up suitcases, but don’t let that deter you! Definitely would recommend and hope to return one day.

Maria was the perfect host. The house is beautiful and immaculately clean.
Communication with Maria was great - answering all our questions, arranging pickup from the airport, a warm welcome with a home cooked meal and excellent recommendations for places to eat and things to see.
The house is just a few steps from the waterfront and is truly beautiful with everything you could possibly need provided with generosity and style. Thank you for everything - we cannot wait to go back!

The house is lovely. Maria left all kinds of treats for us including wine, fruit and a delicious meal. The location is excellent in the central part of the old city but off the beaten path. We could not ask for a better place to stay.

We were greeted personally when we arrived and Maria had some special food and treats from Chania. After a long day of travel- we came home to a delicious home cooked meal! Maria’s home is even more charming in person! It is decorated beautifully and every detail thought out. The location was perfect in old town. Easy to get to shops and the harbor. I can only hope that can return another day.

We had a wonderful stay in Chania and couldn’t be more thrilled with our accommodations. The craftsmanship of the property was top notch and and decor throughout was detailed and charming. The hosts were amazing and even made a special trip over to help with the wifi. Private parking spot was also a nice touch. It is a short walk to the harbor and old town, just the most perfect location! Stay here if in Chania!

I traveled to Chania with my partner, my adult daughter and her friend. From the minute I booked the property, Maria was in contact with me, giving a detailed list of her recommendations for the area. We followed her suggestions and were not disappointed from restaurants to hikes to beaches.
Upon arrival we were greeted by Maria’s friend who showed us around the apartment. Maria’s mother had left a wonderful home cooked meal for us. What a treat!
I can’t tell you how many times we said how beautifully decorated the property was. So many unique and interesting details. I have to say it was the most beautifully designed property I have stayed at.
Thank you Maria for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back someday!

We loved Chania and this was the perfect home for us. Great location, safe and convenient. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, harbor. Beautiful home exquisitely decorated. The hosts were extremely attentive and helpful from the moment we arrived greeting us on the street so we made the correct turn, showing us the private parking spot (which is a huge benefit), opening the door and providing a home cooked meal, fruit, and wine. We are a family of 4 and it was plenty of space (assuming your kids can share a room). Highly recommend.

The Best VRBO Home We Have Ever Stayed In
The pictures of the Deziree Eclectic House do not do it justice. It is even more beautiful than we could have ever imagined. The only thing better was the way Maria and her team stayed in contact with us both before and during our stay. The list of restaurants and bakeries she provided was excellent! This wonderful home is within a 10 minute walk of anything you would want to do in the Old Town Chania area. We also love the secured, private parking space. Thank you so much, Maria!

Deziree is by far the most desirable accommodation in Chania
We were beyond impressed with our eight night stay at the charming Deziree. The villa has been wonderfully restored with upscale fixtures, comfortable beds, great showers with an ample supply of hot water and AC in all the rooms. In addition, it was very clean and we received a cleaning during our stay. We appreciated the villas nearby private parking spot as finding parking in the city is very difficult. The location is superb! In Old Town and near the waterfront with many restaurants, cafes, and mini markets. Close-by Funkys opens early for coffee and baked goods and delicious pizza for later in the day. Maria was amazing and beyond helpful. She gave us the information for a close clinic to schedule our Covid test and also set up a taxi for an early departure to the airport. Pick Deziree for your stay, you won’t regret it!

We loved staying at Maria’s Deziree apartment! We did not have an opportunity to meet, but her hospitality was evident throughout our 2 week stay. She checked in with me to make sure that we were happy and the apartment was beautifully cleaned with fresh linens 3 times over the 2 weeks. The location was very nice - along a tiny walkway that enters into a tiny square of neighbour only parking, and that enters into a tiny street - so you are in Old Town Chania, but off the beaten track. Do not be dismayed by the picture that google has as it is not accurate (which is true for a number of parts of Chania). The waterfront and the Venetian Harbour are minutes away.We appreciated the high quality toaster, coffee pots and other kitchen equipment, as well as the high quality towels, including beach towels. This is an apartment that is worthy of spending a bit extra.

We felt safe in the neighbourhood and walked everywhere. So many cafes, restaurants and shops near by. 10-15 min walk to bus station for the longer adventures. We absolutely loved staying there and hope to be back someday!

Highlight of the trip!
Upon arrival, Maria’s mother made us the best chicken and potatoes dinner and left it in our fridge, which was so welcome after a heavily delayed flight. Maria’s home is absolutely gorgeous and perfect walking distance to everywhere you would want to go! The home itself is clean, beautifully decorated, and has all the amenities you could want. Maria is very responsive and left a hugely helpful guide to the whole area, including restaurants and important sites. Overall, Maria’s home and Chania were the highlight of our long trip!

Desirable Desiree
What a beautiful house! The decoration, furnishings and equipment are all first class and show exquisite taste.
It was perfect accommodation for a week for two couples. The owner, Maria, was so kind and helpful. She arranged the airport transfer for us and we arrived to find a huge bowl of fruit, wine, raki and a meal of chicken and potatoes for four. Wonderful! Later in the week, Maria helped us with car hire. The house has its own secure parking just 50 metres away which was a great asset.
The house is really well located and we could easily walk anywhere in Chania. The Venetian Harbour is just a minute away.
Maria’s recommendations for restaurants, bars and excursions were excellent. We ate and drank very well!
We can’t recommend this property highly enough and would love to return one day.
Thank you again, Maria.

Outstanding host and location!!
So I don't know where to start. First off Maria was an amazing host!! She kept in constant contact prior to the trip to ensure we had the information we needed in order top make our trip enjoyable. She sent us a 20 page pamphlet on all recommendations in Crete, to include restaurants, activities, beaches, outdoor stuff, etc. she emailed to ensure we had transportation to and from the airport. she offered to have her friend come pick us up or a rental car company to use (which we did rent a car for 100 euro for the week). When we arrived at the apartment she had her mom prepare a local Cretan dish (similar to lasagna) and it was waiting warm on the stove which was awesome because we were starving by the time we arrived and it was a sunday sp the big supermarkets weren't open. She stocked the apartment with:
- enough coffee/tea and sugar for the week
- a brand new unopened jar of Cretan honey (which was so good. we put it on everything)
- a bottle of local liquor (Raki)
- a bottle of wine
- a huge bowl of fresh fruits (oranges, pears, apples, strawberries)
- sesame seed candies
- local mountain tea (with directions on how to make it)
- salt and pepper
- olive oil
Pretty much everything you need (basics) to cook. The apartment was in a perfect location!!! Literally within 45 sec walk to Venetian Harbour. This was my 5th time in Crete because I love it and this was one of my favorite places to stay. Wifi worked 100% of the time. apartment was equipped with a washer/dryer. the place was immaculate and I don't know what she used to wash the blankets and sheets but they smelt amazing! Maris wasn't intrusive at all, which I was very thankful for because I have rented apartments before where the landlord stayed coming over consistently and it became too much. anyways I would definitely stay here again. Thank you Maria!

Deziree is as beautiful as Chania!
Our first trip to Greece went to Athens, Sailing the Aegean, Santorini, and then to Chania. The stay In this picturesque little port city was like a vacation from our vacation.
Our hostess, Maria, was warm and inviting from the moment we made our reservations. She emailed us a detailed list of all of the information that we would need during our visit. This made it possible to plan some outings prior to our arrival thus leaving lots of time to linger.
We took the high-speed ferry to Heraklion and stayed over there. The next day we had a leisurely breakfast, visited the palace of Knossos, had lunch in the Lovely town of Rethymnon and headed to Chania.
The heavy rains made finding the property a bit difficult but one phone call had Maria’s friend standing in the downpour to direct us down “the wide right” (which turned out to be a miniature street between two buildings). Cold, wet and hungry we entered our little five-day paradise to find an inviting, warm oasis with a hot pan of pasticio, fresh fruit, wine, Raki, a coffee maker AND coffee and candy!!! Thank you, Maria!! We did not have to “run out” for a single provision!
We put on our “fat clothes” and were in for the night.
If you read all the previous reviews and look at the pictures you will see the perfection of an interior-designer inspired space that was spotless!! Immaculate! We felt like we were using everything in the house for the first time.
Visiting in Maria’s home was like going to visit a favorite cousin.
The location of this beautiful, eclectic house was convenient to everything. We ran out in the morning to the bakery for pastries; we walked around downtown Chania; we stopped in at all the lovely convenient restaurants; we ran down at the last minute to see the most spectacular sunset we had viewed in Greece; and we lingered over cocktails overlooking the harbor. When we splashed our way home in the pouring rain an incredible five-star hotel shower awaited us and all of our clothes went immediately into the washer/dryer.
The house is airy and open and the beds are warm and inviting. It is located close to Crete’s best day trips.
We stay in houses when we travel so that we can feel a part of the neighborhood and the culture. This one speaks of dancing, drinking, loving and eating.
If we did not have Thanksgiving, Christmas and jobs in front of us we would be back this weekend.
Efkalisto, Maria, for making this idyllic vacation happen!

Beautiful renovated house in old town of Chania
Great location and practically brand new "old" house on quiet street 1 block from harbor. Parking near the house was easy. Our host Maria was fantastic with welcome wine and fruit. Easy communication and flexible check in and check out. Recommended.

Highly recommend this property!
This restored property is like new, but keeps much of the charm of old Chania. With modern amenites - washer/dryer, plenty of power, WiFi - it made a great home base for our family. The photos tell a good story; the property has an excellent design aesthetic. It is in an excellent location - walkable to everything! We arrived to a bowl of fresh fruit and other local treats, including homemade chicken/potatoes for our family of 4. Maria arranged our transport and was so helpful when we needed advice for traveling on Crete. We loved Crete and Maria’s property was amazing!

From the moment we booked Maria was amazing! From providing us with historic information about Chania and surrounding districts and recommendations for restaurants and tours her service was exemplary. Maria even provided us with detailed driving instructions from Heraklion, arranging late check in when our ferry was delayed and providing us with a beautiful home cooked meal to welcome us. Her property “Desiree” was impeccably decorated, presented and clean as well as being in a perfect location in the fabulous old town. Could not recommend highly enough

Luxurious Comfort in the Heart of Old Town
You have to experience Deziree house to believe it, but it truly is a luxurious, comfortable stay. I’ve never stayed in a more thoughtfully designed home – absolutely every detail has been considered to make living there completely functional and beautiful. (Honestly, even the blow dryer in our bedroom was amazing quality.) It’s the kind of house you want to come home to. Perfect for a family of four. Maria, the host, is so generous and considerate and just an absolute pleasure to deal with. I would love, love to go back to Chania to stay there again. Also, the location is absolutely perfect – just steps away from the Venetian harbour and great restaurants.

Beyond Fabulous Home away from Home
I don't have enough words to describe how welcomed we felt in this home. The first part of why we felt this way is because Maria is the consummate host. Even before arriving, Maria was a liaison for me and finding information that I didn't have access to in the US. When we arrived, Maria wasn't available but we were met by her friends and sitting on the kitchen counter were welcome gifts from Maria as well as a home-made dinner by her friend's mother (because they figured we had a really long, tiring flight and wanted to provide us with a meal before we passed out). I felt like I had a reliable anchor in this country with Maria. Blown away by the hospitality!!
Secondly, this home is beyond fabulous. I've been in the interior design business and the craftsmanship of this home is amazing. This is a restored historic home with hints paying homage to the original home. There are 3 levels to this home. The living space, dining, and kitchen are on the bottom floor. Bedroom 2 and 3 are on the upper levels. Don't forget to check out the balcony on the 3rd floor. We had many lovely breakfasts up there.
The home is furnished with just about anything you can think of. If I was thinking I needed a first aid kit, all I had to do is remember that Maria is a consummate host so it's got to be somewhere in the house. Lo and behold, I found it. Hairdryer, check in the drawer. Lock safe, check in the side table drawer. Something to occupy my kid?, check the side table drawer for a puzzle. Hot water maker?, look in the kitchen cabinet. I can go on and on. If you need something, look hard enough and I'm sure you'll find it in the home.
The location is prime. We didn't have a car and didn't need one. The home is about 7 minutes walking distance to the harbor. There's a bakery, pharmacy, farmer's market, municipal market all within walking distance.
If you're torn choosing between two places, choose Deziree. You won't be disappointed.
